I had a poster of him when I was a teenager. I didn’t lift then, but I read all the magazines I could get my hands on. I was just wondering what was going on with him, and now this… it makes me sad.
Today I trained legs with a retired pro bber from our gym and he told me that he was best buddies with Nasser back in the day. Nasser actually taught him the ropes with regard to AAS use.
Thought it was a nice anecdote. Sadly I cannot get all the juicy details because there is a language barrier.

have him write it down
RIP Nasser El Sonbaty.
Met him at the Arnold Classic in late 90’s, nice guy even signed my weightlifting belt.
He did get robbed in the loss to Dorian at the Olympia.
Full disclosure: Dorian signed my belt too, hence no bias.
Q: Who’s the next pro to die?
Q: Who will die first Arnold or Ronnie?
