You read about ‘only an hour at the gym’ or ‘I was done in under an hour’ or whatever. How long are you really in the gym. After my hampster wheel, stretching and warmups, I’m already 25 to 35 minutes in. Then at least another hour of heavy training. Anyone else?
So. Total time in gym is…
A) 1 hour or less
B) 1 to 2 hours
C) 2 or more hours
B I work out in my garage, Hell getting up at 4:30 it takes 25-30 min to warm-up and wake-up. So start working at 5 and normally done at 6. I think most of the trainers/strength guys are not talking about warm-up in relation to an hour workout.
If “time at the gym” includes stretching, warmups, foam rolling, etc., I would think it would be hard to do in less than an hour. Especially if lifting heavy because of the mandated rests between sets. That can eat up some serious time.
Normally B but when I’m approaching a meet and am using full gear, it can stretch pretty long. Just wrapping your knees for every single eats it up. Also, like Snap mentioned above, add recovery and I’ve been there for as long as 4 hours. That’s unusual but it’s happened particularly when you’ve got a few people working in together.
A - mostly, only because I generally train at lunch time.
B - on weekends or the rare after work session
and definitely
B - when I get my power rack set up at home and can control my gym time. Not sure if I’ll keep my gym membership or not.
B but not by much. Most of my sessions last about 75 minutes. I stretch for the most part in my office before I lift and I walk to the gym so my warm upss are pretty quick.
