Hey guys i’m i newbie !
I weigh 315 lbs and 6’5" tall
Trying to cut up and lose some weight, should i be drinking protein shakes before and after workouts???
Also should i be replacing meals with shakes as well? I am mixing low fat or 2% milk with it.
And also how about glutamine ??
Now what i will tell you is what i know. You shouldn’t be replacing your meals with shakes. A good solid meals with a good ratio of fats, protein and carbs are better then a shake.
A good whey shake an hour before and right after a workout will help in the growth and devolment of your muscles, no idea on the glutamine.
You can cut just by modifying your caloric intake and eating the right foods, im sure this is already know but is just being said. the shakes will help with your all around body profomence, and i doubt would infulence in a negative way, any goals you may or may not have.
Without being an expert, if you want to drop weight you can do the following;
clean up your diet (pretty much obvious)
eat evry 3 hours to speed up metabolism (at least 20-30gr of lean protein in each meal)
eat breakfast
keep the meals light, dont binge on carbs
drink water!!!
drink green tea!!!
you can use a protein shake p/w
get most of your nutrition from solid meals
eat your heaviest meal (after breakfast) 1h-1h1/2 p/w
Training should be geared towards fat loss too. Check edt for fat loss or other circuit training regimes in this site (there are lots by vgood trainers).

should also check velocity diet if i am not mistaken…it looks v hardcore (1 solid meal per week?) but i am sure it will take inches off ur waste…
What is your current diet like? Good/Bad/A Mix?
How much weight are you looking to loose?
x2 for gearing your workout towards loosing weight. Short rests, high reps, supersetting. Buy a timer if you can to time your rests. (keep it less then 60s)
clean up the diet, read about the vdiet (to see if it interests you), HRX is amazing, DO CARDIO. The best time to do cardio is AM before you eat; if not, toss some (12-20min) in after you lift and do intervals. (1min fast, 30sec slow, repeat)
