post your video
I’m supposed to do it today but I hurt my lower back last Wednesday and I don’t want to risk injuring myself my maxing out today.
Have you noticed you pretty much have excuse for ever thing and absolutely zero progress due to those excuses.

Ok man. How about you make a youtube video detailing your realistic goals for the next year, and describing your injury (what can you do, what cant you do, how you got hurt, etc).

I will review it on Friday after my exams.

We will negotiate appropriate programming, and adjust your goals accordingly after that time.

Deal?

Yeah I’m really sorry about this but yesterday when I tried to squat I only went up to 270 lbs and I re injured my lower back again and I had to go straight to the hospital. It’s most likely an over strained muscle and they gave me pain killers for it. I’ll probably be out of squatting and deadlifting for a month. But when I get back into it I’m definitely going to need some good coaching and advice so that I can get stronger without getting injured. I also have final exams this week so I won’t be able to train upper body until next week.

dead thread.

Grasshopper, one day you will look back at this moment as a regrettable decision not to take advantage of FREE coaching. FYI coaching from a guy who knows his shit, busted ass in the gym and has accomplished shit, not Eric from Planet Fitness that has every degree you can get and can’t pull a respectable number. Sad.

I hope you recover from your injury, if in fact you are injured and just not hurt.

cough cough bullshit! cough cough

This is so sad. I too hope that if there is an injury, he will recover from his injury if there is one.

I tried to gift a group of ladies with training and some nutrtional counseling, all struggling with different medical issues like diabetes, etc. All showed great results in the first month but they started coming up with excuses not to come to class and by the end of the second month they gave up. One girl was on the highest dose of insulin and by the end of the 1st month and a half was on the lowest dose but just couldn’t handle all the training.

Not sure why everyone looks for the magic pill and the easy way out. If you want something bad enough you work your ass of and push through injuries and learn how to work around them.

I got injured last year doing Sumo Deadlifts at competition. Did I stop? No I just learned how to train around it. I use the Dead-Squat bar and still work the motion and keep the pulling weights up there. You adapt, you overcome, you DON’T QUIT!

Were you at least videoing this squat session when you got hurt since it was time to throw up a squat video?

It’s not bullshit, now get the fuck off my thread. It seems that you don’t have anything else to do with your time besides harass a 15 year old kid who is trying there best. You could at least say something nice like “I hope you get better soon.”

One thing you could try instead of giving excuses is to just set a date. On that date, you’ll commit to giving it your all, even if you have to work around your back for now.

It doesn’t sound like this week is the right week, but you can start for sure next week right?

Most likely not. I’ll have to see what my doctor says. If I injure myself again it will be much worse.

You can start with the upper body work next week… right?

(Which is what I said, but I guess you didn’t put the pieces together.)

I’m sorry.

I’m sorry you came on TNation looking for a goddamn pity party.

I’m sorry you think I don’t know what it’s like to train around injuries.

I’m sorry you felt the need to go to a fucking hospital because your back hurts when you squat.

I’m sorry you don’t know a good opportunity when you see one.

I’m sorry you don’t know the difference between ‘their’ and ‘there’.

I’m sorry you don’t know that even ‘their’ would have been grammatically incorrect, and that you should have used ‘his’.

I’m sorry you think that anyone on here believes you have a legitimate injury, when the doctor simply prescribed rest and painkillers (real injuries require rehab or surgery or both).

I hope you can accept my apologies. Let’s be besties. forrealz.

Yes I will start my upper body training next week.

Just a thought here, do you think you got injured (hurt) because of bad form? A video was request prior to your hurtness, this could have easily correct flaws in you sqwaut and potential save you from getting hurt. If it’s no the form that got you hurt, how did it happen?

It got hurt about 2 weeks ago when I was doing farmers carries which is where you carry a heavy dumbbell in each hand and walk with it. It felt mostly better the next day however. Then last Wednesday I was doing a power clean and I hurt it again. I felt that it was mostly healed by yesterday and so I tried to squat and that was when I really hurt it badly.

What did the doctor say?

this is such nonsense. You’re showing more and more why you should have posted a video, ANY video, on here the day Trivium offered his services. Nobody hurts their back doing dumbbell farmers walks. I’ve never heard of such a thing, unless you managed to pick up 200 lb dumbbells somehow. If I had to guess, I’d bet you were using 60’s or so. Am I right? You need coaching, that’s very clear. Use your resources here, you won’t regret it. I’ve given you shit in this thread, but I didn’t realize how lost you truly are until now.

I was using 85’s and yes I do need coaching because 5/3/1 isn’t really getting me anywhere.

Do you even have the ability to record and post a video at all? Have you figured that part out?
BangkokHustle wrote:

… a couple things. I didn’t mean you need coaching for programming needs. You need coaching on your form. 5/3/1 isn’t ‘dangerous’ by any means. Wendler came up with the program as a means to come back from injury. Which means, if anything, it’s one of the more reliably safe programs in existence.

Beyond this though, what do farmers walks have to do with the basics of 5/3/1? If you were running 5/3/1, then the farmers walks would have been implemented as assistance work. Assistance work should NEVER result in injury. It should be done using weights that essentially can’t hurt you.

Have you read the actual 5/3/1 manual? If that’s indeed the program you are running, you need to learn what is and what isn’t essential to the program. Don’t rely on internet forums for this information. Get it straight from Wendler.
