5’11" and you’re thinking about the 165 class? That’s pretty lean. Can’t imagine it will help your strength to cut. But it’s that whole strength-to-weight ratio thingy. It will be interesting to see if you can [roughly] maintain your numbers if you decide to cut weight.
About 2 years ago I was 155lbs, though this was just before a surgery and I had mostly stopped eating.I might just eat at maintenance and see what happen. I don’t know whats going to happen with my back issues so I might not even get to compete at all at any weight.
I’m not sure what to say about the weight. I’m 5’10", pushing 240, and trying to tell myself I’m not toooo fat. Even still, 165 seems pretty light to me. I think you would have to lose some lean mass to get down that far.
Well you most likely have a lot more LBM than I do. I admit i was pretty light last time I was at 165.
Gunny Joe- Nice lifting! In terms of the 165 debate…no, no, no…I am the resident flyweight around these parts and I don’t want anybody hunting on my land!! Seriously, I’m 5’9" and 173 and have the legs of an adult chicken ( not pretty), no guns and my lat spread doesn’t! so I recommend, heading north of 2 bills and packing on some LBM.
Way to go negotiating that 45. I think a 35# plate might be the diameter limit that I could manage on a dip belt. Even the 25# I tried last week was kind of unwieldy.

glad you were in a vid mood Joe - those dips are totally inspiring! tres ummm… well you get my point :)
Glad you liked them, I’ll pretty much be limited to videoing weight dips, chins and maybe some rows for a bit but I plan on doing a lot of it. Mostly just to keep me interested.

I’ve done a few ugly dips at BW+90 and I’d like to get back to that with better form.

There’s a sweet spot for s2w ratio that start’s right about there. It’s the beginning of the Continuum of Awesomeness that starts at 3lbs of bodyweight per inch of height.
This idea is not mine, it comes from big guys who write about this stuff.
Guess I need to gain 82 lb. to be at my peak of awesomeness.
Joe: Those are sweet dips! I hope to someday be able to do a bodyweight dip again.

Keep the vids coming. How 'bout some posing vids?

I have a feeling you’ll be hammering out dips in a matter of weeks.
If I ever the muscle to pose I swear I’ll make a video of it.

I hit my peak of awesomeness and rolled right on by it. You can borrow some of my awesomeness if you want to. In other circles, they just refer to awesomeness as “fat.”
