Pretty Little Hate Machine

Man - you are really pulling away from me on these deads now. that 396 at the meet was pretty damn close to my absolute max and here you just hit a +15# PR at 425

great pullin’![/quote]

Thanks George but I think you got a bit more than 396 in ya.

We need a Race to 500 DL thread.

Something like 50. My deadlift is down a bit these days.

awesome deads and a 15lbs PR to boot! you deserve a snatch!

Best reward for a PR ever!

Finally, some fried chicken. It looks good and all, but there needs to be a LOT more of it on that plate. Oh, yeah, fierce pulling goin’ on.

Snatch talk. Everywhere I go tonight.

Joe, you ever do a meet?

nlmain, I’m surprised you don’t drop into a deep squat when you snatch that barbell. [This is a serious and not sarcastic statement.]

Good job Joe!

Chalk is your friend

Is it really a snatch if it’s done hanging off a wall?

Oh snatch can absolutely be done hanging off a wall…

I’d love to do a meet once I get strong enough but I have no knowledge what so ever about federations and I have a feeling I’d just look spastic at one.

Yup - it’s part of the fun. The crowd expects it, Joe.

The first one is a little intimidating, but its all good. I was pretty nervous at my first meet and had a few little miscues, and left some weight on the table, but I had a great time, and got a lot of help from other lifters who did not know me from Adam. I gained a lot of experience for the next meet I try. Also, look at George’s example. He missed a command or two in his first meet and looked a little nervous, but he made a fine showing nonetheless. In his second meet, he looked as composed as an experienced pro and exploded with PRs. You ought to give it a go. Meets are fun–you just need to get the first one under your belt.

Lifted very early because last night my father in law passed away after an extended battle with cancer. I’ve gone up to Huntsville and helped with the funeral plans and then I had to come back home. I’ll get up early again and squat before I head back to Huntsville again and I’ll stay there Thursday and Friday at the least.

I’m hoping keeping my training going will help me stay less stressed than the people around me. We knew it was coming and just Sunday were told it would be days but as prepared as she was for it she still wasn’t ready.

Some things you can’t fix and that sucks.

My condolences, Joe.

Been there too Joe - my condolences and you are right:

Sorry to hear that Joe. my condolences as well.

Well now I look a right asshole.

My hope for you and your wife is that the memories are good and that the grieving not be overly painful. It’s hard to say goodbye to a parent no matter how well-prepared you think you are for it.

Thanks guys, he and I were not really close though I did like the man.

From my perspective the whole thing is about hating to see my wife in pain and not being able do anything other than hold her and let her cry.

Sorry to hear Joe - My condolences as well.
Losing parents is one of the things that really sucks about getting older.
