i’m a little bit under 6’1 and usually walk around between 284-290. I would cut to 275 (and have in the past for my last meet), but since then ive started on a medication that can be very toxic when you’re dehydrated, so I cant do that anymore

APF Raw Power Challenge. Opening very conservative, my goal is total higher than my last meet, which was 1330 in the 242 class(missed 220 by 3 pounds), USPF meet

What the hell, I’ll do a lil whoring since it was a tough meet and I managed to post a total
QPF Provicials, Nov.29, competed with a wicked chest cold and heavily stoned on cold meds
Squat 105kg
Bench 60kg
DL 135kg

Still shaking my head over the fact that I got thru the day. I had to lower my expectations greatly for the squat and bench because I had no strength at all, but someone managed to deadlift a meet PR.

1st meet- 555kg (1221) raw in the 90’s (weighed 87.4 on the day)

Squat 160-165-170

Bench 130-140

Deadlift 220-240-245

Won the U23 and Open raw 90kg’s so pretty happy, squatting left a lot to be desired though!

Congrats on getting your first meet under your belt. A 245 pull? I think I am the weakest deadlifter on this forum.

I literally only just got it mate, got the vid working so you can see. Went bright fucking purple!

Nice pull! A PR makes the whole day worth while. Not to mention you showed your ability to perform in less than ideal circumstances.

I thought it was funny watching you pull conventional when in your avatar you’re pulling sumo.

Good work by everyone who has posted on here. I can’t wait until my next meet in January. I am about 7 weeks out and I plan on hitting the following:

500-550 Squat
425-450 Bench
550-600 DL

I compete raw at 275 weight class. I eventually want to put on some gear, but I want to see how much I can achieve raw before I explore that avenue.

Keep putting up the numbers. Gives me motivation!

Cheers guys. The U23 qualifying total for the nationals is like 490 and the Open is 540 so I got both of those despite some awful squatting. Those arent until Semptember of next year so aiming to go 200-150-260 there. (150 would be a British U23 record raw bench, pretty confident I ll have that soon).

What kind of food/drinks do y’all like to bring to meets?

Today I had the Colorado State Championships/USAPL American Open.

I weighed in just under 82.5. I thought I was okay three weeks out, then I had some weird period issues, and ended up higher on Friday than I would like. I did a little cutting, and was STILL a half lb high this morning. I had an 11 am weigh in (thank god) and after 30 minutes of sauna and biking, I checked my scale and was 1/2 lb under.

I got ready, then I checked my OTHER scale. I was over a pound over on it. I shit a brick - no idea if I was even near weight at this point, and it was a little late! I went to the venue about 30 before weighins and determined that my original ($10) scale was more accurate than my other ($40) scale. Fucking assholes, TANITA!

One of the other dudes had the same shoes as me (some Oly ones I use for benching) and he accidentally stole them, thinking they were his, during equipment check. I got them back with plenty of time, but believe you me, I was checking foot sizes to see who would wear a size 7.

I was in the second of two flights, mixed genders, a first for me. I figured I’d be first or second lifter every time, but was generally in the middle of the pack. Lifting with the guys was a lot of fun for me, I’d do it again.

1st squat - 363 - 3 white. 2nd and 3rd at 407 - red lights, borderline depth. Colorado is really anal about depth, and the refs themselves told me they were very close. I bet if they didn’t know me (and thus know that I know better), they’d have given it to me.

I put on my shirt to get ready to bench. I was thinking about not even wearing a shirt to bench as I’ve not spent any quality time in it since August. I did 205 as a warmup, and my left tricep lagged a little for an uneven extension - same issue I had at my last meet. 203 to open - 3 white, super light. 220 - 3 white. 232 - a 34 lb meet PR and 7 lb general PR - 3 white. I’ve never had such an awesome benching day. I had another 10 in me, easy. My new bench setup - a backbend to the bar - is a very good adjustment for me. It also amused the announcer, who apparently thinks I’m a gymnast/powerlifter.

Deadlift - my nemesis. I wear the same suit for squats and deads, and my thighs were ripped to hell from squats. Getting the suit up high enough to get to the bar was enough to bring tears to my eyes. 319 - muscled it up, I wasn’t really in position, 3 whites. 353 - red lights, minor hitching (left leg was jerking a bunch, really minor hitch but they were strict today). 353 - 2 whites, one red for rolling my shoulders back too much or something? I dunno. Like I said, they were strict.

Not my best total - close, but the missed squats ruined a truly awesome day. This was the first time in a long time I had a meet where I didn’t have to worry about anything (qualifying for something, a team, etc) and it was a total blast.

PMPM, that’s one heck of an adventure you had. Luckily, I have never had to poop to make weight, because I have to be totally relaxed for it to happen. Meets just make me a nervous wreck and I usually have minor panic attacks up until warmups.
