Physique Clinic discussion for USCTrojan619

Don’t be put off by the haters.

Shugs said something in the womens physique clinic on MWA that is relevant to you too.

Something like - “everybody has bumps in the road, but it’s how you deal with them that matters.”

IMO, you haven’t undermined your credibility or anything else at all. So what you forgot a laptop adaptor, or a camera or ran out of a certain food etc! Everybody has those problems. You did the best you could under the circumstances.

The video game thing was blown totally out of proportion too.

Bizarre on the other hand simply stopped posting and never came back… that is a COMPLETELY different situation.

USC,

Most supermarkets should carry natural almond butter in the health food/organic food aisle. This is a healthy source of fat so don’t sweat the oil. You are going to love this stuff. It is delicious. You can put it into shakes or dollop it over your scrambled eggs. That’s what I do each morning.

A great seasoning for meats and eggs is lemon pepper. Make sure you find the kind that has no extra ingredients other than lemon & pepper. My other staples are freshly ground black pepper, chili pepper flakes, fine herbs, and chopped garlic.

Keep your healthy oils in a cool dark place. That includes olive oil, macadamia nut oil, omega-3 caps, natural peanut butter, almond butter, etc. They provide peak nutrients when kept fresh and can easily go rancid in the heat/sun.

As an alternative to the power rack when benching with no spotter you may be able to go to failure and rack the bar on the lower supports of a regular bench station. Then simply get up and lift the bar back to the upper rack position and continue. I do this since I am still small enough to fit under the bar racked on the lower support.

This way on your last rep, you can lower the bar super slowly for max effort. You will certainly get looks from people in the gym who think you are suicidal. Remember even if you rest the bar on your chest, you will be able to roll it off at the weight you are using. Just watch your neck!!

Keep up the great work and blow off the naysayers!!

Blackcat,

Thanks for those food tips. Good shit.

I just bought my almond butter tonight. Its good stuff. My other thoughts are on my PC.

IBMS,

Thanks for those words. They ring a bell loud and clear. Being prior military, all I remember hearing was “adapt and overcome”. It has become a staple during this PC.

That’s what I’m talking about! I dish you some criticism, and you handle it like a true gentleman. No sissy whining, no bullshit excuses, just back to the blood and the grit, same as always. I admit I was wrong in my judgment, now I know you are a worthy leader. I’m glad they picked you, man. You motivate me to do my very best. Stay strong.

Sab,

No problem, bro. I’m still getting used to a new gym, and get in another groove w/ meal prep and eating with an even more full schedule, but I’m doin’ the dayam thang.

Stay strong yourself.

You’ve done a great job USC. I can’t believe how dedicated you’ve been to sticking with your diet and posting updates and all that.

Hey USC,
I didn’t see where you are taking creatine. Are you taking creatine? I couldn’t imagine a bulk without it.

USCTrojan,
good work on gaining some weight and muscle, keep up the good work! I see CT has you eating a lot of omega 3 eggs, how much did they cost you since you are almost eating a dozen a day? those things are expensive, the cheapest I’ve found then is at 2 50 a dozen.

They are holding off on taking creatine until progress stalls.

USC,

How much of an impact do you remark from the peri-workout supplements? I am using the poor man’s alternative (1 scoop of whey protein with 1 tsp of creatine & 10 oz water pre-workout and the same again after). The pre-workout shake energizes me to a decent degree. Do you notice an energy boost from your pre-workout 1 scoop Surge Recovery & 1 scoop Surge Workout Fuel & 5 BCAA caps? How about the 1 scoop Surge Workout Fuel and 10 BCAA during training? Any observations on your peri-workout supplementation would be appreciated.

pat, Jhauser3 answered you’re question. Coach Thibs was already giving me a bunch of supps to take (especially that first diet) that he didn’t want to give me everything under the sun.

I noticed that this current diet isn’t loaded with as much as last time (or it just seems that way). I do remember Coach Thibs saying earlier in the PC that if progress stalls, we’d add it in.

And don’t say “bulk” to Coach Thibs. He hates it. He likes “mass”.

Damn teebone, where did you guy those eggs at? The brand I’m buying is Egg Land’s Best. I want to say that they were more than $2.50. They were hella more expensive. I think they were $3.59. But I also bought them at a grocery store called Safeway, and they tend to be on the expensive side of things. I have access to the base commissary, and I believe they have them there.

I was just in a rush to get my food items to start the new diet ASAP.

You know what? Its weird, but I never thought of my peri-workout supplementation as a means of giving me energy; more so of keeping, building, and maintaining whatever little muscle I was gaining.

But I have to say, my energy levels and just my body in general always feels ready to work out with my current stack (and also the stack from last month). The last time I seriously started lifting was this time last year, and then never went to a gym again until this PC. But when I was going back then, I literally remember those days when I just didn’t want to go to the gym, and felt like shit both mentally and physically, and it showed in my performance. I’d still go and workout, but you can just feel it, that the workout sucks even while you’re doing it.

Now, even on my bad days (like the one where I threw up earlier this week on leg day and didn’t do the Romanians), I felt like I was killing it up to that point. And that was on like 4 hours of sleep in 2 days or something retarded like that.

Hell, I even had a BAD cold when I FIRST started this thing. I thought it was the flu the first couple of days. And I kept going without missing a meal or workout. And we know how hard these workouts are: no matter how heavy of a weight you’re using, you’re always going to failure.

So, I’d say that it keeps my energy level very high and allows me to give my best on every set, even when other factors aren’t at their peak (like rest, stress levels, etc). I haven’t left the gym since I started this thing and felt like I wasted my time. . .or that I didn’t give it my all. . .or that the workout was bad overall.

BTW, I like this current workout stack even more so than the last one. Its a lot kinder to my stomach. And during the workout, I’m just taking the Workout Fuel, which I like A LOT better all by itself. Its more like drinking a Gatorade type drink, which I’m used to, and prefer. The post-workout is nice as well, just being the Recovery. Before, I just felt full for hours after drinking it, and it was hard to eat the next couple of meals afterward. Now, its not like that at all.

But my workload overall is about to increase, both mentally, physically, and emotionally, so we’ll see how things go.

We’ll split the difference and call it “girth”. So get your girth on playboy.

Why Almond butter and not just almonds? Or did you have a choice?

Ever try to mix almonds in a shake? Usually, the nuts are not broken down all the way leaving you with nothing but ground up nuts in the bottom of your shake.

Usc, if you are having trouble eating eggs in the morning, just throw them in the blender and eat them raw. If you get the organic/omega eggs you should have no problems. If you mix in the fruit with it, it won’t taste bad, believe me. I have been doing this for years, and I have never had a problem. As Shugs said, the more you cook your eggs the harder it will be for you to consume them. It is always easier to drink calories than it is to eat calories. Remember that…

I got some Omega-3 eggs for $3.19 from Fresh Direct.

Question about the Almond Butter. Is what you purchased Raw and without preservatives?

I have not been able to find a commercial brand of Raw Almond Butter. The last time I spent $26.39 on a small jar from some “organic” company. Whole foods used to have raw almonds in a device you could make butter yourself, but now they just offer roasted. Even the roasted stuff is like $12. What are you buying?

If you throw your nuts in a coffee grinder, you can make any kind of nut butter (just be sure to deshell). It is cheapest to find some online company and buy in bulk. Raw nuts are better from a nutritional standpoint than roasted or smoked nuts.

Except he runs the risk of salmonella. And I believe I have read that the protein is not as redily available in raw eggs. It takes cooking to get the goodness out of them.

Any raw food has higher protein than cooked food. Salmonella poisoning is exceptionally rare when it comes to organic eggs. Do what you want… I am only trying to help. Might want to ask coach Thibs to see his viewpoint.
