Physique Clinic discussion for gustavopacho

Gus, your Physique Clinic has been awesome to read through and reading your V-Diet experience (and seeing the VERY impressive results) prompted me to give it a run. I am on Day 22 and down 18 lbs. so far. Congrats on all your success so far and thanks for providing such a clear picture of life on the V-Diet. Really, your posts and thoughts going through family functions, etc. really helped me stay the course early on - when I was still tempted.

Your results have helped me stay focused in the gym and complete each training session with nothing held back. I typically spend 5-10 minutes lying on the gym floor in a puddle of sweat (especially after the Wednesday sessions). Strange coincidence - I’ve never trained so hard and been so strict on a diet and I’ve never seen anywhere near the results I’ve seen on the V-Diet. Funny how that works, huh?

Just wanted to chime in and echo the statements of others, great freakin’ job man! Seriously impressive stuff.

I’m glad my posts helped you out Jstines! Sounds like your are doing very well yourself on the V-Diet. 18 lbs is a nice drop! Good job man!

Ha ha, man those Wed workouts on the V-Diet were a butt-kicker if you put in the required effort. Looks like you know how I felt on that one. I hear you on the passed out ont the bench for 10 minutes…thats how long it took for me to snap out of it and get to the planks.

It’s pretty cool to see some great results when you just follow the program straight and put in your time, effort and consistency. Again great job bro! Take care Jstines!

Thanks for the kind words Dre! I’m almost near my goal and ready to step down and let the next victim, I mean participant step up to the Physique Clinic Challenge.

Take care Dre!

Just wanted to say congrats on your progress. Its been fun keeping up on the thread.

It will be interesting to see your DEXA scan results. When are you doing it?

Hey Gus, you are looking insane. You should definitely compete. I would even go and hold up a sign announcing membership to your fan club.

Is it just me, or did the x-mas tree in the low of your back shred into something resembling a pair of ferns? Lookin Fearsome, Gus, Grind it out!

Hey Gus, sorry I haven’t stopped by in a while, but nice job once again, looking awesome! I’ve noticed a lot of people have started V-Diet logs, and I feel that is mainly in part to your success. I think you’ve inspired ALOT of people to achieve their goals.

Good luck and keep rollin!!

Gus,
Been following your progress from the outset and to echo the comments of many others, you are an inspiration. Looking great, hermano, keep on kicking ass!

Thank you Brother and congratulations to you for your life changes. Man, that is just awesome to hear how you changed everything cold turkey! That takes a lot of heart and I give you tons of respect! Looking forward to reading your article and hearing your story. Take it easy Bartl!

This should be taped to everyone’s forehead who says, “I don’t have time to train.” BTW, what are you in school for, if you don’t mind my asking? Sorry if you’ve already answered it but I didn’t see it.

See above.

One other thing. I saw in your thread/blog that people have said that you look more like 27 than 37. I was going to say something similar. Watching your progress, it’s easy to forget that you’re over that “magic age” of 35. You know that age. Over 35 and that’s it; it’s all downhill and you’re just killing time until death. This may be true for those who don’t take care of themselves.

For those of us that do, 40 is the new 25. Okay, I say that because I turned 40 in January. And while I let myself get fat, overall I’ve taken decent care of myself, and 40 feels just fine. I started the V-Diet this week and I work full-time, have a family, and I take classes part-time.

One of my NEPA activities is to play Guitar Hero while riding my stationary bike. This keeps me from pedalling too fast so that I don’t turn it into a cycle sprint session, which I would do if I didn’t occupy my mind with the game. Yes, I’m 40 years old and I play Guitar Hero. That game rocks. When I turn 85, I’ll worry about being “too old” to do stuff.

I’m not sure if this has been answered as there are now 27 pages to read through here

I see your workout plans and was wondering how long it takes to knock these out it seems like a lot of work to fit into an hour.

Thanks

I hit up cardio twice today per CT’s program and I kinda liked it. I was able to study while doing my cardio since I have so many tests every week. This multi-tasking is a life saver in terms of getting all my work done for the PC and school.

One of my pet peeves is people telling me that they don’t have time to go to the gym… I hear it a lot from people in my University… funny thing is, I manage to go 6 days a week and we all have the same curriculum. You can always make time if it’s a priority.

This is gonna sound kinda cheesy but, whatever:

Gus… I really love your motivation… reading your thread I also noticed that you’re really hard on yourself but, at the same time you’re not critical of others… You really do things for yourself which is really great… you do your thing and keep focused on your goals. A lot of times, other people’s comments (like thinking you’re insane for doing the V-diet) can get in the way goals you set for yourself and you didn’t let that happen… you kick serious ass!

One of the most annoying things to hear when you’re dieting and exercising is “why do you work so hard… you look fine just the way you are”… well for some people “just fine” is not enough. You don’t have to be THE best… but, you should strive to be YOUR best (in every aspect, physically and mentally)! Another thing you hear a lot is “why are you so superficial?” Well, it’s not about being superficial it’s about self discipline and motivation… saying to yourself, “I want this for myself” and going out and getting it. It’s all about not settling. Your thread has been a real motivator/reality check for me.

You may have done this for yourself but, you also did it for the readers of MWA and T-Nation… when you guys (all the physique clinic participants) stay on track and motivated, that extends to the readers… I guess that was part of the point of the clinic… hehe!

Anyway… great job!

:O)

People also don’t understand that even if you are happy with the way you look, it takes work to maintain your physique. There’s a reason why such a high percentage of people who lose weight end up gaining it back.

Thanks beaul, I’ll be having it done next week.

Thanks Frank! This stage of the game is definitely a Grind!

No worries Money! I think the V-Diet threads starting up are great and there are a lot of them. It’s hard for me to keep up with everything going on in my life but I try to get a chance to read them when I have time.

I can’t take any credit for someone starting a V-Diet, all I want to do is wish them much success on their journey and always stay consistent. I know they’ll make the gains if they stay the course.

Thanks for stopping by and take care TMoney1!

Thank you Xeneize! I’m gonna push as hard as I can to end this Physique Clinic strong! This has been such a great experience for me and I learned so much, especially about what I’m really capable of when I’m focused and driven.

Take care Xeneize.

Hey Mike! Guitar Hero is one of my wife’s favorite games! I suck at it though and don’t know how you can even do cardio while playing that.

Ronnie Coleman, Skip LaCour, Chris Faildo and a bunch of others are of the mature age and look fantastic. 40 is like bodybuilding’s second prime age when the muscle maturity is more pronounced. So don’t let that number get you down instead get psyched up because if you look around most of the guys our age let themselves go and succumb to the challenges of life. There is no reason to let yourself go when you get older. That is just crap thinking and no part of the way I think.

Kick butt on that V-Diet and make those changes. Take care Mike and stay strict!

I can everything done in about 2 hours including long cardio and warm ups. Today was a bit longer since I was trying to regroup between circuits for my leg hypertrophy workout.

Yeah, an hour is not enough for all the stuff I do. Take care Ozzyaaron!
