Gus I am so impressed with your transformation!!! I am going to start the V-diet on monday, are there links for the exercises you used in your blog? I thought I saw some, but can’t remember. Some of those exercises i’ve never done. Man keep up the excellent ass work man. I know it has to feel good!!!
Hey great job Gus. I been keeping up with your progress to kill time at work and you have done a killer job getting your body into bodybuilding shape. what an accomplishment man, keep up the good work and keep posting so i can keep killing the down time at work.
Great progress Gus.
Amamzing self discipline and work ethic, i am sure that you have inspired quite a few T-Nation members myself included !
Gus, you’ve done fantastic work…and I want to echo CT’s sentiment from the thread that I think you should consider competing. With what you’ve learned and the development you already have, you are a shoe-in.

BCAAs and Greens type stuff is really expensive in Australia, especially Biotest stuff ![]()
I didn’t pick you at 20% BF. I’d be interested to see what Chris thinks of that estimate.
Taking the BCAA make a huge difference in training and in keeping that muscle mass.

20% can’t be right! Your photos look more like 10%. However, it would be good to know what the photos reflect in terms of an acccurate BF%. Keep up the great work!
Man, tell me about it! I will tell you that at the end of this PC, I will be about 10% at the very very least. No matter what!
Thanks for the support Rshea!

A couple days later, our coach decided to test us using a DEXA scan [the gold standard], and I came in at 8.5%. Meanwhile, my Tanita scale was telling me I was 20%! The only TRULY accurate measures are the 12 site test in the hands of a skilled professional or DEXA scan. Regardless, you are well on your way to your goal of true leaness whatever bodyweight that currently puts you at. Keep up the great work!
I’m going to check out some facilities that provide the DEXA scan test. Great idea JSB! Thank you!

no one can see abs at 20%, unless you’ve turned your abs into cinder blocks or on the stuff that made the pro bodybuilders look pregnant a few years ago.
Ha ha, very true my friend. And BTW, you are not that far behind me. You keep up the good work on CW’s program!

All I can say man is that your shoulder to waist ratio is looking fantastic; you must have done some chins in your time.

Thanks Northaway, yup I did a lot of chins. I liked full range with a deep stretch at the bottom and full contractions. None of that 1/4 chin garbage. Plus, I added weight as soon as I could.

I posted this on Greg’s thread but I’ll post it here, too. It’s a link to the Army body fat calculator. You have to mess with it a little to get it to work right but if you know something about Excel you’ll figure it out. Basically, cells F10 and F11 are “protected,” but these are the cells that are used for the calculation.
When you download this file, save a copy to your hard drive. Then unprotect the sheet, and in cells F10 and F11 enter the formulas =E10 and =E11 respectively. This will then get the formula to work. Or, send me a PM with your email and I’ll send you my copy, which I’ve already fixed.
Right on Mike, thanks for your help also. T-Nation members Rock!

Hi!
I just wanted to chime in and say great job! You’re looking really great!
Thanks Jenn!
When I read that I had just gone out for someone’s b-day the night before and was literally the only one not drinking, not eating cake, and not pounding shots at the club… the dirty looks when you ask for water… yikes!
I know the feeling, good job with the discipline. That is what makes or breaks your goals!
It’s really tough, not because I want to drink just because I started to feel excluded! I guess at the end of the night when I crammed 6 drunkies in my car to drive them home, they kinda appreciated the not drinking… so, then when I read what you said, I thought F*ck it… I’m just gonna do what I set out to do! :O)
Later on, your friends might want to be included in the kind of physique and condition that you’ll be in! That always happens when you get in superb shape! Take care Jenn!

I just want to say great job Gus! I’ve been following your PC since day 1 and you have been making some amazing changes in your physique. Being able to follow your thread has actually motivated me to start my own log over in the beginers section. You’ve been an inspiration keep up the hard work.
PS-Your arms in the latest pic are looking real strong, still think they are trying to catch up to your MONSTER back tho.
Thanks for stopping by JDR! Keep consistent to your plan no matter what and you’ll be surprised at what you can do. It’s all about being consistent!

Hey Gus - you’re progress has been nothing short of incredible so far. Very inspiring!
I apologize if you’ve answered this already, but I was curious about your previous training. Like others have said, your lat spread is ridiculous. Has your back been a point of emphasis in your past training?
Traps were actually a priority for me before. My buddies used to kid me about looking like a coat hanger because I had wide clavicles but no traps. Well that motivated me to hit up traps first day of the week and of course that was always hit with back.
So I focused on a ton of shrugs with BB, DB and the standing calf raise machine. Then I trained the rest of my back and just wanted to put up as much weight as I can in my early days.

I say this in the manliest way possible - When can I do pullups on you arm? In all seriousness though, great progress as usual and I have to agree with Shugs on this one: clothed picture = madness.
And I quote:
Messenger: This is madness!
Gustavo: Madness…? THIS…IS…GUSTAVO!
This quote was seriously in the movie. I couldn’t make this up.
Ha ha ha, Right on Sayjin! My wife loved that 300 movie. I felt fat watching that movie.

I think I posted a few links on this thread here. I also checked the search feature here in T-Nation and if I didn’t find it here then I searched YouTube.
Much success to your V-Diet journey PD!

After seeing my last pics, I’m seriously considering it too. I’m very appreciative of the fact that even Coach CT mentioned that.
I always thought I had too many weak points to compete before and never thought I had the discipline to stay on a rigorous diet for more than a few weeks without falling off!
I want to put in a ton more work before that but I know that training for a contest would bring up the pressure and intensity to incredible levels. Everyone who competed before told me that when they have an upcoming contest, they get kick it up to a level that only a contest can bring!
Competing, even just once in the best shape of my life, is one of ultimate goals in bodybuilding.
Thanks for the kind words and take care SH!
