I just read your latest post, talk about being in another mans shoes. I am right there with you on the fat muscle guy thing. I’ve been the resident strong man in my entourage for years but never the ripped guy. Always lifting but never looking like it. Until the physique clinic and then you…now following your lead and Chris’s advice and the workouts in T-Nation , it’s all a very real fact that I will achieve the goals I’ve set out for my physique. Thanks for the inspiration, SPARTAN STYLE!!!

You’re so right. Over the last couple of years some of my boys have gone to the gym with me. On more occasions than I wanted, I heard, “Dev man, your arms/whatever would be pretty nice if they were just more cut.” Two guys (both were in worse shape than I was) said I needed to do more reps and cardio and that’s when I had to let the bar just fall on their chest…enough of that nonsense. However, after losing quite a bit on the diet I’m trying not to be a jerk and send them before and after pics! Those punks…

You’re a real inspiration, Gus! I’ve been following along with all of the clinics and after showing your before and after pics to my husband (and after deep contemplation), he has decided to try the V-Diet at the beginning of March (we need to wean him off his caffeine addiction first because he’s prone to migraines so we were worried that the combination of no caffeine and low carbs would be too much for him at once).
Right on Krispy! I think the HRX should help your hubby with the caffine fix and you are still allowed a cup of coffee on the V-Diet just no creme or sugar. He can use Splenda or a smiilar substitute.
Were you a reluctant healthy eater prior to the diet or did you avoid fruits and vegetables as much as possible?
Yes, I was a reluctant healthy eater prior to the V-Diet. Vegetables tasted bland and boring before and fruits were just ok. These were neutral tasting foods to me. My preferred carbs were any bread product, any italian food preferably pasta, and I liked fat Jamba Juice drinks instead of fruits(Peanut butter moo’d).
Now, I can get enough of the taste and texture of vegetables(especially spinach) and ALL fruits(especially blueberries and apples)! My taste buds were re-awakened after a month of my “junk food intervention.”
I’d wish you good luck in your continued journey but who needs luck when you’ve got an iron will and determination![/quote]
Thank you Krispy and much success to you and also to your husband’s V-Diet journey. Stay the course and reap the benefits you two deserve!

I don’t want to be the “big guy, gentle giant” anymore. I want to be the “walking statue of muscle that takes your damn breath away” physique guy. Polished, shredded and just impressive looking is what I’m gunning for!
We are getting close to that goal Qaash! Keep strong and you will not just reach your goals, you’ll exceed them. Train hard Spartan, show no mercy to your old bad nutrition habits!

Ha ha ha! Good post Dev! I also have a problem taking advice from people who are out of shape. Nothing personal to them, to me I look for people who “walk the talk.”
That’s why I could never give advice on developing abs because I never had them. I usually referred people to good advice or articles from here.
Gus, congrats on the 3lb loss! By the way man, are you sure you’re 36? Because you’re looking damn near 22 these days, or maybe you’ve found the mythical fountain of youth just like Stacy Dash, lol. I’m gonna try to get a camera for my pics so I can post my weight tomorrow.

I’m not 36 anymore, I actually turned 37 in january. Thanks for the compliment Sayjin, old men like me could use that little boost in the ego ha ha!
I’ve been training most of my life and it does make a difference in how you age. I always kept it up and I think regular exercise is the only real fountain of youth if there ever was one.
I didn’t make 181 lbs like I wanted to so I hope you do make your goal. Looking forward to seeing your progress Sayjin! Take care Brother!
Gus, I always said we had similar body types…then you post photos of those wheels! Man, your legs are looking solid and you can really see your lower back coming in as well. You trying to bust out that Samir Bannout Christmas tree! I’m sure that’s better than that “busted can of biscuits” us FFB’s used to try and cover with big shirts. Stay strong and motivated man.
Man, I just wanted to take a minute and congratulate you on these kick ass results. I know you’re not where you want to be yet, but seeing your progress has been pretty entertaining. In my opinion, you and Bartl have made the most tremendous gains and made the most of the opportunity. Keep focused.
