Physique Clinic discussion for gustavopacho

Hey Gus
I’ve been following your Physique Clinic since you started and just have to congratulate you on your incredible results so far. I’m not doing your workout because I’m a tall skinny guy with absurdly long limbs, but I just read your Saturday workout and it reminds me of the “Meltdown” workout that I began today. It’s about half of what he’s got you planned for and I vomited after 2 sets of it.

Keep the good work up and the food down!

Yeah, I’m a little nervous about Saturday’s metabolic training. I like to follow exactly what the Coaches want me to do and then push it hard. This workout looks pretty tough and I must get it done. I’ll definitely keep the food down, I hate throwing up and would rather pass out instead.

Thanks for the kind words Guitarmanzero. Much success to your own training and take care!

could u ask Shugs or Thib, cause im kind of getting use to them

hey i was wondering, what happens when side planks get too easy, i know u can increase the time u do them, but how else can u make them harder[/quote]

You don’t do them! I only use these exercises with individuals with almost zero core strength and only so that they learn to activate these muscles.

Once they get too easy; they basically become worthless.

cool. thankss alot. i was only doing abs at home, but ill try to start getting in a habit of doing your staggered ab training so i could do more advanced oblique work

Question about NLT: Day 6 Training (Circuits)

What is your calorie guideline on this day? Is this a 1400kcal or 1700kcal day?

I’m loving your PC, Gus. I’m 2 weeks behind you and approaching 20# down. I’m using your PC “prescription” that Coaches CS, CT, and CW have prescribed as guidelines and getting results (obviously improvising for lack of ‘supplies’ and adjusting to what’s available at gym).

How are your energy levels pre and post workout? Getting better with the addition of some carbs?

I’m finding that my workouts have gotten more intense and focused and I’ve actually gone up in the weight that I’m moving (I think I’m just more focused and was just doggin’ it before). My days start at 4:15, NEPA walk at ~5am to ~5:30-40. Work @6am, then my workouts are usually at 1030 or 11am. I’m drained, yet focused, then hit the wall about 7pm

When I start to get tired during the workout, I ask myself: “WWGD”? (What Would Gus Do)

Rock on man-- you’re inspiring a bunch of us [soon to be] FFB’s!!

Wow man just read your NLT Day 6 training. You are defining intense for us here! You sound like you were gonna pass out. I don’t know how you managed 2 more of those C circuits.

My calories on training days are always 1700 and my two off days are just 1400 calories.

Great job SD, 20 pounds down and counting. You’ve got to be feeling and looking good at this point! Those abs more visible now?

My energy is actually pretty good. I think the Surge Workout Fuel is really good at giving me a serious stamina boost and even though most of my carbs are veggies, I do get a nice fill up from my favorite baked/microwaved yams I have on the off days. Plus I do have Surge Recovery on training days as well.

I actually have more energy to train in the morning than at night. Should be the other way around but the mornings training sessions are great!

Dieting and training to get single digit body fat is not easy but everyday gets easier and easier. Plus seeing just those little changes like more vascularity ( that cool vein that runs down the biceps), harder shape to the muscle when you flex it, and feeling the skin on my abs getting thinner is just incredibly motivating.

I can feel the hardness of my ab muscles and it is kinda freaky cause I’ve had a gut for longer than I can remember. Man, this just so new to me and I’m really excited to see how I’ll turn out looking when I get to that 8% or even lower BF.

It does feel like a grind sometimes but the pay off of a great physique is worth it. Keep pushing past those speed bumps on your way to a ripped, peaked physique SD! Just keep going cause this is the time where we make those physique changes happen.

Take care SteelyD, you can make it happen! This is your time too!

Yeah, I was close but I guess that Surge Workout Fuel had other plans for me instead of passing out! I’m just glad I didn’t throw up.

I get a big kick out of training and I really enjoy putting myself through painful, intense workouts. I like the fact that my legs and arms gave out, it let me know that I performed as much as my body allowed.

I was even a little nervous yesterday about this workout and when that happens then I know it is going to be an intense training session. I like getting to that point of legs burning and shaking, unable to catch my breath and body just screaming for me to stop. When I get to that point then I ask myself “how bad do I want this goal?”,

My answer to that is to just keep going with the next set, exercise, circuit. It’s my own gut check, my accountablitiy to myself. I train alone and don’t have anyone to push me so I must be my own training partner and keep pushing hard.

Take it easy Brick Klin

I have to second Brick Klin. Great effort on the Saturday training.

When I did the C circuit I defined failure as “pain I can no longer tolerate” and not “legs giving out”. Next Saturday I am gonna toughen up and set your rep counts as target. By the way, what would you do, if you had to throw up? Do you carry a puke bucket with you?

Do you have any tips for the swissball pushups? The only way I managed to perform them was more or less dropping with my chest on the ball and then getting back up.

As a general remark. The PC in general is such an incredible cool thing. You can see what others do, see their results and get motivation for your own training.

Haha that sounds ironic coming from you. But then again, these days your idea of taking it easy is probably pretty far out.

No bucket for me because I will not throw up ever…only pass out on the floor ha ha! Seriously, I hate vomiting and vowed never to go through that again. Last time I chucked was after drinking way too much (about 5 mixed drinks for me years and years ago) I puked outside in the parking lot, in my friend’s car(sorry Francisco), on my buddy’s floor of his apartment, when I got home and in my bed again later that afternoon…twice.

Oh man, those were tough too. I was shaking like crazy the whole time and just had to focus on keeping my torso straight and just using tris, chest and delts. I bounced off the ball when I hit failure on those ha ha! Just try to do the best reps you can without momentum or bouncing, even if its only a few reps.

Right on Chris, take it easy bro!

Hey Gus, great job!!

Your calorie and carb intake are pretty low considering the high amount of volume your training consists of. I’ve always been under the impression that when on a restricted calorie or carb diet, your volume shouldn’t be as high. Am I totally wrong?

Also, what was your energy level like on Monday through yesterday? This program is completely different then the one Chad put together. Have you noticed any changes as far as your body adapting to this volume? I would imagine towards the end of the training, you must be running out of steam.

Keep up the great work!

This is Coach CT’s training program for me and I’m just following his directions to the letter. I’ve always been a fairly low-volume trainer and this is out of my security box which is a good thing. This change is actually good for me since I’ve been used to doing the same thing for a long while.

My energy is actually very good with my nutrition and the supps…especially the Surge Workout Fuel. I felt the difference on tuesday’s workout. I just keep going and going, not afraid of hitting failure.

My body is actually shocked off the high volume and I’m still dropping weight. My muscles are harder with more veins appearing and I like it. I’m taking on that lean look now.

I get tired near the end but somehow I just keep going even if I can’t catch my breath like saturday’s session. I actually look forward to my post-workout cardio and enjoy it. The weekly changes in my physique really help in wanting to stay strict with my diet and push hard in my work outs.

Thanks Kana and take care bro!

I don’t mean to hijack the thread or try to take anything from Gus’s amazing transformation, but I’d like that fritata recipe! I posted my request here because I bet Shugs gets inundated with PMs and I’m probably not the only one who saw that and thought it looked really good.

Hey gus

Just wanted to let you know you’re my inspiration. Been doing the V-Diet 1 week now, just finished my first HSM. Down 8 lbs so far, doubt I’ll do anywhere near what you achieved but we’ll see. Have you stopped posting weekly pics? I was figuring we’d see a little abs by now.

If TC likes it, he may run it as a Recipe of the Week bonus article.

Okay, that’s just mean of you to put a picture of it right in this post so when I check back it’s the first thing I see. Maybe I’ll just stop reading. Yeah, that’s it - tell TC that I intend to boycott the site unless he runs the frittata as a recipe of the week article!

Alright Gus, you’re on! Although I honestly think you’ll drop to 180 by Monday, if not 179, so I’m setting 184 as my goal for the 18th. We’ll check in with each other on Monday to see where to go from there.

May the best man win!

Good job YoungGun. Bet that HSM was damn good too. 8 lbs is a huge difference in one week, very nice.

Man, you never know how much you can achieve. I hope every V-Dieter loses more weight than I did once they start, honestly. I want their success to be better than mine.

I never knew I would drop so much weight or change so much in 28 days! Heck, I was gunning for the 15 lb goal Chris set for me. I just wanted to complete everyday as planned and took everything strictly one shake at a time.

I was crazy on being very strict and disciplined. I ate no gum, limited diet drinks, crystal light, and even Splenda. I busted my ass in the work outs and I always made my daily walks no matter what. I knew that taking an extreme diet to a higher level would increase my chances of losing more weight than normal. I wanted to drop that belly fat badly!

Every week’s progress was a great surprise to me and each success built upon the previous week.

It is incredible what you can achieve if you REALLY want it bad enough! Take care Guns

You’re a real inspiration, Gus! I’ve been following along with all of the clinics and after showing your before and after pics to my husband (and after deep contemplation), he has decided to try the V-Diet at the beginning of March (we need to wean him off his caffeine addiction first because he’s prone to migraines so we were worried that the combination of no caffeine and low carbs would be too much for him at once).

Anyway, despite all the crazy and not-so-crazy diets I’ve tried in the last 5 years he was never interested in any of them, but was very impressed by how much progress you made in 28 days and the great jump-start it gave to your weight loss goals. We’re especially interested in the claims of how the diet changes your food tastes because he doesn’t like any fruits or vegetables and eats mostly refined carbs. Were you a reluctant healthy eater prior to the diet or did you avoid fruits and vegetables as much as possible?

I’d wish you good luck in your continued journey but who needs luck when you’ve got an iron will and determination!
