You’ve been a big inspiration and I think I might be needing it.
My velocity diet supplies arrived in the mail today (a massive cardboard box sitting in the lobby of my work that got here a lot faster than I expected). It’s taken me 5 years to go from 350lbs to 240lbs, and it always seemd easy untl the past year or so. With another 40lbs to go I’m going to war with my body fat starting Jan. 14th, 8 days before my 30th birthday.
The most appealing aspects of the diet (which have been reinforced by the Physique Clinic) are that it will help reset my food priorities and cravings as well as the fact that it’s difficult. Not enough people commit and follow through with things that are difficult but rewarding (myself included).
Best of luck with those already ahead of me on the diet.[/quote]
Good job on the 110 lb drop Brick Wall! You can definitely drop the majority of the fat on the V-Diet. Just follow it to a “T” and I expect your progress to be better than mine.
Gus, you are just kicking @$$!! You did better in two weeks than I did in a month! It does get tougher as I get older (I’m 48), but that’s no excuse. Just gotta kick it higher and push on.

Thanks again for the kind words of support from Texmac, KellyB, Kalle, Mithious, Ponce, Okaz, and E-loo!
I’m overwhelmed by the support from everybody.
I’ve been training a long time with very little support from anyone except my wife, brother, and best friend. That’s it. No one else.
This is the first time in years that anyone has ever complimented me on any bodybuilding progress I have ever made and I am very grateful and thankful of all the hard working hardcore lifters here. Thanks guys!

Thats what makes this site so great, there is some dummies and tough love but for the most part everyone gives you props for real accomplishments and hard work. Its also nice to have a sort of extended family with common goals which as we all know is not the norm so it can be hard sometimes when you work your ass off and people just look at you like your an idiot for not eating some ice cream or going to the gym instead of watching reality TV.
It takes hard work and sacrifice to accomplish something and not be mediocre.
Very impressive progress bro. You continue to be an inspiration. I’m gearing up and getting my supplement arsenal put together to give this thing a go in the next few months myself. My plan is to drop 10 to 15 lbs. on my own (which I know I can do) and when the weight loss starts to slow a little which it normally does at a certain point I’m going to jump start it again with the V-Diet and get down to my lowest weight in probably 15 years.
My goal is to get down into the 160s, which for so long I’ve thought was impossible. You PC is showing a lot of us that are paying attention that it’s not impossible.
Great work Gus! I am on Day 7 of the V-Diet myself and your Clinic was the catalyst in me finally trying out this diet.
It is hard, but not nearly as bad as I thought. I am doing everything spot on except skipping some of the NEPA walks. Just another rationalization on my part that those walks would not be too important to succeed on the diet. Of course what happens; I don’t do nearly as well as you did on your first week. Getting those walks in starting now!
My first meal was baked chicken, green beans, cucumber and tomato salad, and some brown rice. Everything tasted absolutely delicious. Considering the fact that you would have had to pay me money to even consider eating those veggies a short while ago, I feel this diet will be worth it even if I didn’t lose a ton of weight.
Cutting out the bad eating and the massive amount of alcohol has also completely got rid of all my heart burn/stomach problems I have been having.

Bro, I thought I would never get under 200 lbs! You can definitely hit that 160! I’ve been noticing how much better I look at a lighter weight and I’m just gunning for being bodybuilder lean no matter what that weight will be.
I told myself before starting this that I’m just gonna shut-up, follow directions and get the results! I rationalized too much before this and never got any leaner.
Post some pics once you hit that 160 lbs. I want to appreciate all your hard work and efforts too!

Thanks Dogg! Just stick to the V-Diet program no matter what happens in those 28 days and you will be really surprised at what you can achieve. I’m still surprised by all this!

Make sure you do those walks! They really do help with the fat burning. I didn’t think too much of them before and now I can’t do this program without them. The walks are really important to do!
Man, that meal you ate sounds good! My stomach is grumbling just reading about good food. I have to stop reading the other PC diets. They make me hungry ha ha!
You are on a great start. The V-Diet is not easy but it is extremely rewarding. Stay strong and make the V-Diet pay off for you!
Have a couple questions for those who have finished or nearly finished the diet. What training style do you suggest? Is the general type of work out prescribed under the Clinic for gus the best type (higher intensity supersets, short rest periods, full body/complexes)?
I’d like to maximise the fat loss obviously. What type of program did many of you follow or are you following? I dont need your exact work out, though feel free to post it I guess.
5 Days till V-Day for me.

I’m on the diet right now (day 9) and was doing what Gus is doing at first, however due to the fact that I go to a university gym that is packed to the max no matter what time of day it seems, I am having to forego complexes as people keep stealing my area or dumbells or whatever while I’m doing the next thing and my rest times because longer then 30 seconds and it’s not being as effective (I’ve only lost 3 lbs in 9 days). That being said I’m moving to 5x5 most likely to lift heavy and preserve muscle as I can. And maybe increase my NEPA a tad.

Don’t be discouraged by your 3 lbs. in 9 days progress. You’ve apparently got less bodyfat to lose so your progress will be slower. Make sure however to adhere to the V-Diet “rules” and “guidelines” to the T.
I noticed the women have a V-Diet Special starter package deal… Any chance this will hit the regular T-Nation store with maybe TRIBEX instead of Se7en?
Could you describe (or point to vid/pics) how you’re doing the dummbell hang cleans and raises (W and F, workouts, respectively).
Great progress, bro… ROCK ON!
thx

I had to look around for the db hang clean and found a way to do it from this youtube clip. I just perform the hang clean portion on the clip and not the press.
It’s day 9 for me and reading that you are beginning to see your abs just put me in a different gear again! Congrats as I know that’s a huge accomplishment. Heck, I’d be happy to see the vein on my right bicep at this point let alone abs.
I hear you on the stomach growling (no pun intended)…it can get loud sometimes especially in class or work and the room’s quiet.
On the 70% of the time eating clean…I did the same thing as I thought, “Why can everybody else eat this stuff and look okay but I can’t?” One, most of those I was referring to were 10-15 years younger. Two, as a FFB, I just can’t.
I like what was said in the recent Fat Loss interview (I think Chris said it) that a “cheat meal” makes me feel like I’m actually rewarding myself…with the very thing that’s causing me to diet and feel bad! Truly backward’s thinking.
Keep watching and flexing those abs as they etch in!

I read the Dan John experiment and I followed his lead and started doing barbell complexes along with walking for my NEPA over the last two weeks and I’ve been happy with the results. I’ve made sure to mix-up the set/rep/weight scheme while doing the complexes so it doesn’t seem like a constant grind.
You might want to check out the earlier pages of Gus’s Physique Clinic to see the workout that he’s been doing.
Best of luck with the diet, work hard at this and you will reap the rewards.
