Gus, like everybody else, I have more in common with your story and physique than anyone else. Okay, I’m a little heavier, taller, and no where near as wide!, but you’ve inspired me on this diet as I’m on Day 6 today. Keep knocking it out as I read your updates everyday to keep my mind off eating, and more on determination and commitment. You made me less scared of week 2 now!
Saw your latest pic and all I can say is…KICK ASS!!! You’re knocking it out of the park!! Awesome job so far. You, Nova, and Bart are the cases I’m following the closest, as your situations and goals most mimic my own. You guys are inspirational so put the hammer down and keep going!!

You are doing amazing, I just checked out the new pictures and I was astounded! Great job! I now for sure know what my yearly tax return is going towards… my velocity diet supplies! Again, keep up the good work, post are great and informative!
Thanks Samurai! Keep strict on the diet and you have no choice but to drop fat! Take it easy Bro!

Go, man, go! Dude - keep at it like this & when the dust settles you’re gonna be a friggin’ monster.
I am more stoked than ever, been recording weight & temp for the last few days, got my scale, started my food log, and went grocery shopping today. I am scared sh!tless about the “foods I’m gonna miss”, but you guys here in The Clinic are really driving home the potential results with the right efforts in diet and exercise.
I know I’ve got a few years on you, but the amount that you’ve “turned back the clock” in the last couple weeks is simply amazing. I hope I can accomplish that myself…
Don
Don, it is never too late to get that physique you want.
I knew this one member at Gold’s Gym who was an older gentleman about 57 yrs young at the time. Mind you this was in 1999.
He had the physique that I’m still chasing after for myself. He was ripped, dense, and veiny. Looked like a carved statue! When he told me his age I was stunned! He looked that impressive. He just loved training. That was his fountain of youth.
Put in the time, honest work, & effort and you will reach your goals. It’s never easy but always worth it! Take care.

Gus, your back is INSANE. If you manage to strip those love handles down to nothing it will be absolutely awe inspiring. What do you do for you back as far as training goes? Your chest is also impressive, what do you do for that?
I was working hard on Waterbury’s programs and loved doing deadlifts for 10x3 with 60 sec rest.
-Lots of sternum chins, bent-rows w/ different rep ranges
-incline db prone raise for warm-ups
-chest supported rows, hard contractions
-BB shrugs-very heavy w/straps.(straps used on this only)
-And rear delt raise w/ db, reverse pec-dek. A lot of rear delt work!
I like 10x3 w/ 60sec rest on incline bench, heavy dips, and flat db presses. And I throw in some cable and db flies in when I feel like it.
All these are done on different workout days ala HFT. 4 to 5 times a week depending on schedule.
I do like isolations exercises and use some from Coach CT’s arsenal sometimes.
I have to say that your clinic is most inspiring to me not only because of your attitude and dedication, but also because we could just about swap our starting measurements including age (difference is I’m an inch taller, and about an inch smaller at BB, Thigh, and Arms), and diet/workout patterns.
I spent my free time this weekend reading both of your PC threads (amongst others) and am serious pulling for ya bro!!
You’re doing great and tomorrow, I am definitely stepping up my workout intensity (already tightened up the diet this weekend).
I’ve been having pretty good success with my regimen so far and just starting to plateau, so I will definitely be jumping into a close approximation of your prescribed PC very soon.
Measurement question: I didn’t see the answer to your shoulder measurement (where to measure). Also, is ankle measurement at the bone, or just above (1" smaller above).
Thanks for the inspiration and thanks to your T-M PC team for the great expertise!

Thanks for kind words and support Steel!
My wife measures my shoulders straight across from the farthest part of each deltoid. I’m hoping that is the correct way of measuring because that is all I based it from the very beginning.
The ankle measurement is just above the bone. The 1" smaller part. That measurement hasn’t changed cause there is just nothing there except bone.( that was the only part of my body that wasn’t chunky in my before measurements ha ha!)
Train hard and take care.
Can you ask Shugart or Waterbury why you are only taking 3 BCAA at a time, when guys like USC are taking at least 5? Is 3 pills enough to turn the ‘anabolic switch’ on? It comes out to 3.6g of BCAA but I thought 5g + was ideal.
I’ve been reading your PC since the start, and seeing the pics just now I literally said “wow!” out loud to myself. You’re obviously THE perfect person for this diet - both physically and mentally.
You’ve been a big inspiration and I think I might be needing it.
My velocity diet supplies arrived in the mail today (a massive cardboard box sitting in the lobby of my work that got here a lot faster than I expected). It’s taken me 5 years to go from 350lbs to 240lbs, and it always seemd easy untl the past year or so. With another 40lbs to go I’m going to war with my body fat starting Jan. 14th, 8 days before my 30th birthday.
The most appealing aspects of the diet (which have been reinforced by the Physique Clinic) are that it will help reset my food priorities and cravings as well as the fact that it’s difficult. Not enough people commit and follow through with things that are difficult but rewarding (myself included).
Best of luck with those already ahead of me on the diet.

Devo
Thanks Devo and just remember your goals when you hit those daily speed bumps called cravings or food temptations. Just recognize them and get over them, they can’t stop you only if you let them.
I get tempted everyday! I go with my wife to get her food and sometimes the smells take me for a loop but I maintain and realize that I got the ball rolling in my direction. Every time I resist, I get a little bit stronger. You become a machine after a while. Food is just going to be fuel for you just like Coach CT and Chris say!

Thanks again for the kind words of support from Texmac, KellyB, Kalle, Mithious, Ponce, Okaz, and E-loo!
I’m overwhelmed by the support from everybody.
I’ve been training a long time with very little support from anyone except my wife, brother, and best friend. That’s it. No one else.
This is the first time in years that anyone has ever complimented me on any bodybuilding progress I have ever made and I am very grateful and thankful of all the hard working hardcore lifters here. Thanks guys!
