Phil Heath 7 Weeks Out Olympia 2011

I think the ground would simply sink if he tried to jump.

Does anybody know if/where they’re streaming the Mr. O this year? Being able to watch it online last year was epic. Any advice there would be much appreciated.

The sceptic and cynic in me is saying the hoop may not be 10ft and the actual picture may just be photoshopped.

I demand video proof before making conclusions that he can dunk!!!

I don’t see what’s so unbelievable, his legs are symmetrical to his upper body…look at those fucking calves. Lol

What I meant by my first statement is that he’s still the “same” just A LOT bigger all over. Assuming he still played basketball for fun during his BBing career so far…it probably didn’t affect his dunk game drastically.

A thread engineer.

My mind? Blown.

Phil was just getting some new vids done last night in the gym. No idea if they’ll go out before or after the O though.

He looks pretty ridiculous and if you see his arms in person they are even more unbelievable.

We try to talk him into doing strongman lifts but he usually decides that we’re crazy.

I have to admit it’s kind of weird walking into your gym to train and seeing one of the top bodybuilders in there all the time.
I’d always see him in the morning (5 AM) doing his cardio. Just moved away and man i miss that gym.

It isn’t my site. this is the bodybuilding forum. I am a MOD here and was asking WHY powerlifting gets brought into this forum so much and not the other way around.

Who died and made you the guy who acts like this is wrong?

If we started jumping into every other thread in the powerlifting forum, I am sure some would object.

Further, why are you so upset right now?

Wait…so now I can’t try to keep the forum on topic?

Could you list what my role is then?

Your Bias and hate of all things powerlifting clouds you judgment. I realize this is a bodybuilding forum however, the thread took a turn toward people who were genetic freaks. In the context of that discussion and the fact and that he was talking about their physical appearance speaks to that subject.

Telling people they should STFU if they happen to mention someone affiliated with PL’ing while providing examples to substantiate thier point is not moderation, It’s just being an asshole.

Back to the topic, Phil is a freak on that we can agree…

^Uh, dude, I used to follow powerlifting and trained at the same gym that some well known guys trained at in Houston when they were in town. Why do you think I hate it?

You don’t know me…at all it seems…but that isn’t stopping you from judging, is it?

A discussion about whether Phil directly trained his arms is ridiculous. Anyone here who really thinks you look like that by ignoring them probably needs to read way more than they participate.

i was backing phil to win this year, but after seein jay training in an 11 day b4 olympia video, im not too sure anymore!

Cutler looks out of control. His overall shape is superior to last year.

who said Phil “ignored” arm training? quote the person who said he never trained arms.

I made the observation that from his own words, he does not train arms directly at this point of his career until a few weeks out from a contest.

you assume to much. nobody including myself said that he “ignored” training his arms, or “never” trained them, that is something you just made up.

some other posters pointed out that Phil, like Ronnie, were freaks who did not have to train arms that much, if they did their “arms would overpower the rest of his physique”

I AGREED with that line of thinking, and posted some pics of accomplished PLers who had very good physiques, who did very little real bodybuilding training, and I got attacked on a personal level for it.

typical.

when somebody else has a different opinion than you get bent out of shape.

I know you always try to have the last word, so go ahead, I wont respond back to you on this thread,

this is a thread about Phil Heath, who happens to be a freak who can get away without training his arms as much as the average mortal…

after that, if you want to debate anything else off topic you can PM me.

you sir must have a VERY large head then.

Dude, look.

A) no one needed your comments in here, days later, further fucking up this thread. This is in part, while serious BB’ing boards laugh at this place.

B) The person you are defending as been doing the same shit in every bodybuilding thread he posted in recently, and it is getting annoying. He is basically saying “my style is superior, all these pro’s do it wrong.” Again, shit that doesn’t happen on other boards, because people aren’t harboring e-grudges.

C) I have nothing but respect for what HT has accomplished in his life, and he is a large strong fucker, that saves people’s lives for a living. I’d buy him a beer anytime. But, with that said, the only reason he is posting in this forum lately in the first place is to justify his coming over here to join in on the latest “I Hate X” thread.

Now since then he has continuously posted about throwers, OLifters and Powerlifters, and how awesome they are without arm work. Nothing wrong with those people or what they do, but in a thread about contest ready pro’s, the people he is posting about have no place, it is inflammatory and getting old fast.

Now, my prediction is you are going to get all defensive, not actually read what I wrote and continue to not contribute on the actual substance of the thread, or what this forum SHOULD be about. And no, this forum shouldn’t be littered with pictures and examples of fucking 20%+ OLifters and PL’ers. Please note that I’m not in the “So-an-So posted a 6,000lbs total” thread posting pictures of Jay 7 days out, talking about how much better he is than So-an-so.

You know, in the real world, none of this shit happens. The Competitive BB’er at my (now old) gym, calls me a powerlifter constantly, I’m not at all. But it hasn’t stopped him from helping me, or talking to me. Shit I’ve had great discussions with a crossfitter about lifting and the nuances of the back squat.

Whatever happened to us all being in this together? Part of being in this together is NOT putting down someone else’s style of training by pointing out endless examples of people that train your way that you think stack up. And, that is the way some of HT posts recently have come across. Whether he means it or not, that is what it is.

One thread recently got fucked up because people called the routine gay… BB’ing gets treated like the red headed step child on this site, and it is fucking annoying. SO when a MOD snaps and trys to keep a thread about Phil, about Phil, maybe we should talk about Phil and not start the “I hate X” bullshit.

Agreed, hence why some people take exception to the condescending tone of your below, irrelevant posting, circa page 3 or 4
heavythrower wrote:

this is very interesting, especially considering all the “bodybuilders” on this site who made a big deal about needing to do direct arm work at least weekly in the other “no direct arm work routines”

seems like one of the biggest baddest bodybuilders out there right now relies on heavy pressing and pulling for his upper body size.
heavythrower wrote:
but maybe your wrong, they focused mostly on big heavy compound movements to get there size and strength base, and once they took it to the top level, they added in some direct arm work to put the finishing touches on their physiques.
Stop trying to act like you weren’t fanning the flames. I’ve quoted you doing it.

I cannot defend how others “perceive” my posts, other than to say It was NOT meant to be condescending.

I do not know that you really have any idea who I am or what I am about.

i can pull up and link many many posts where I have said “if you want to look like a competitive Bodybuilder, you need to train like one”

“if you want to look like the guys on the covers of the bb mags, do body part splits and get your diet dialed in”

again, we are hijacking this thread.

I think the majority of powerlifters (geared multiply ones especially) could benefit a lot from doing some bodybuilding every now and then, and I KNOW lots of the younger guys who do NOT have phil, ronnie, cutler, or hell, even X’s size could still benefit from lots of heavy barbell pressing pulling and squatting.

I have been around a long time in the Iron game, and on this site. not just as a fan but as an actual competitor,

I have some thing to contribute to this site and even this board even if a few peoples cant stand for their conventional wisdom to be challenged.

again, this is hijacking a thread with arguements. pm me if you REALLY are interested in discussing this issue with me.

you are right, we all need to tone it down, stop with the personal attacks, and have civil back and fourths with each other.

I do not know how old you are, but I am in my mid 40’s, so the internet is pretty new to me.

I GUARANTEE you that a lot of the very rude and personal attacks and insults that are commonplace in so many threads on this site would NOT happen if we were all face to face and not safe and anonymous behind a keyboard.

shit is just really out of hand.

I got into a gear vs raw debate on another board and had some young guy insulting my kids and wife and saying he was going to come find me and kick my ass.

I sent him my address(stupid I know) and guess what, he NEVER showed up. Imagine that.

“cant we all just get along”?

edit:

by the way, one of the quotes you selected was directed at mini-thor, who if you had not SELECTIVELY quoted me, I conceded that maybe he was RIGHT as well, and that I really did not know for sure.

if you want to quote me, do so in a manor that shows the entire context of the point I was trying to make.
again, no need to get personal and ugly, we are just talking and “shooting the shit” as we used to say in the south, it is ok to disagree with somebody, no need to take it personally and get all bent about it.
