Nice!!!
Its crazy to see not only how much bigger his legs are, but how much of a different shape they are if that makes sense. When comapred to the arms, which are clearly bigger, but you can see how similar they are… but those legs, they’re totally and absolutely different.

It is because he stopped doing all that silly “direct” training for his legs. Instead he did a 5x5 and trained for strongman competitons, NOW look at him.
God this forum is starting to suck again. An arm work debate in a Phil thread? Are we fucking serious with this shit?
I’m gonna go ramble on about getting a MMC on my raises in the strongman forum, brb.

You have to admit that the very act of people jumping in a thread to act as if maybe he didn’t train arms directly is hilarious.
Does that mean there are really people out there who think you look like that by NOT training arms?
LOL
Yeah, I am sure he screwed up as well by not doing total body training twice a week.
Holy shit his forearms are huge!
Obviously he looks incredible but damn I can’t get over his forearms…ahaha

Wasn’t a video of him training arms just posted?
I guess the comments CB is referring to just make you realize that for all the really really smart people out there, there are just as many opposites to balance them out…

He obviously has un-human arm genetics, but yeah, I’m sure he has done arm work.
Thing is, an advanced guy drops arm work, fine, and advanced guy tinkers and toys with or without arm work, fine. He will normally have a good grasp of wtf he is doing. And who knows, after a decade of curling, maybe a couple weeks off will make them grow, idk, stranger shit has happened.
Anything short of advanced, would probably be better trying everything else BEFORE dropping arm work. Which, because some people fail to understand they aren’t mutually exclusive, includes getting bigger all over and brutally strong on ALL your lifts, including curls etc.

Sort of relevant: There was a thread on IM recently where Dante and Skip talk about gear, genetics and how dumb the general internet population really is.
These guys on stage are freaks in every sense. There are some on a ton of shit with no sides, some on not so much who are super responders, etc etc etc.
Common sense really. Well, that and people need to feed their insecurity. The internet is silly. Breading ground for excuses oh why people didn’t.
I mean shit, you don’t have to be on the O stage to be a success, you just have to bust your fucking ass and be better than you were yesterday. That alone makes you better than 80% of America. For those few freaks of the world, they end up on the O stage. You can’t give the first person I talked about enough drugs to every get there. These guys are special in every way, and hell maybe they are special in their responce to gear, still special, lol.
I got 4 hours of sleep last night and am still at work… I have no idea where I’m going with this…
Phil has giant arms, they over shadow the rest of him, he needs to not train them at this point, but they didn’t get there from eating potato chips and doing TBT with no curls.

or maybe…
I gotta say it, but I think that arms and side delts can’t be too big (assuming everything else is well developed to begin with).
Maybe he trains his arms constantly, but knows that a simple sentence in a video about not training arms will cause a shitstorm of interest in him. He has learned from Jay, the man knows how to promote himself.

?
What is so hard to believe about him not training arms right now? They are already huge.
I mean, honestly, if this does create a “shitstorm” there are some naive people out there in internet land.
This thread has turned into a 5page and growing debate over his absence of arm work. Him saying he doesn’t train his arms much has created an interest on this website and im assuming other similar sites.
At the end of the day the man is a brand and he needs to promote himself. He really couldn’t give a fuck what you think because its the “naive people out there in internet land” who buy the mags, the supps, subcribe to websites etc, to a professional boudybuilder at the top of his game these are the most important people.
Personaly I think he does very little arm work. For the average-advanced gym rat getting too big will never be a problem, but for top level pros they have to build a huge yet balanced physique. His arms are big enough, so why waste time/energy on them.

I will have to agree with you about the “genetic freak” aspects of your argument Beans.
Some guys just do not have to blast individual body parts very often to get jacked as hell, there are examples of this in the powerlifting and olympic lifting world, guys who could pass as bodybuilders who do not train very much like one.
the ones that come to mind for me are Roger Estep, and Konstantine Konstanovs, both powerlifters:
[photo]34260[/photo]
[photo]34259[/photo]
I cannot speak with 100% confidence about Konstantine’s training, but as a kid I read dozens of routines and articles published by or about Estep, and the VAST majority of his training revolved around variations and different loading schemes of the barbell bench press, squat and deadlift. hell, he even did very little direct upper back work.
in olympic lifting the first guy who comes to mind is Pisarenko:
[photo]34262[/photo]
I chose him because he was one of the best built superheavyweights, there are leaner more “cut” and vascular lighter weight class OL out there, but he was a very well built BIG guy, over 265lbs and 6 feet tall.
Point is, that I agree with you beans, the vast majority of powerlifters probably could not attain these physiques training just like a powerlifter, and the vast majority of the average guys trying to be “bodybuilders” could not train like Ronnie or Heath and acheive their level. these guys were and are freaks, and sadly, all men are not created equal.
edit:
[photo]34263[/photo]
damn, he (Pisarenko) was very lean and muscular for a superheavy OLer.
Facepalm Roger Estep was a bodybuilder, KK used to be a bodybuilder before he focused his time on powerlifting.

how old are you?
like I said, I read dozens of routines he put out in {Powerlifting USA magazine back in the day.
was ronnie coleman or johny jackson Powerlifters or body-builders? I have read in various places that those two guys are noted for doing quite a bit of powerlifting before they reached the top of their game in bodybuilding.
but they are considered BBers, to “facepalm” me because Estep did some bodybuilding early in his career, is like me “facepalming” somebody for talking about what a great BB johny jackson or Ronnie is, by me saying something like "dumbasses! those two guys were POWERLIFTERS!!!)
Why the FUCK are we discussing powerlifting in this forum like this?
Is anyone here starting bodybuilding threads in the powerlifting forum?
Open a thread named Phil Heath 7 weeks out.
Find pictures of Konstantine Konstanovs.
Yeah.

jesus, would you just relax? it is obvious why this thread took this turn, i was just trying to make a point, you act like I just walked into the lobby of your practice and took a dump on the floor.
It is just an internet discussion, as far as posting in the PL forum, please do, you might contribute something of worth and some people might learn something from you,
and (gasp) YOU might learn something too, oh, I forgot, you already know everything about anything that is important to you, and if it is not important to you, it is worthless.
