Phil Heath 7 Weeks Out Olympia 2011

I suggest finger sprints, followed by finger band plyometric drills, then backwards down hill walks with a sand-bag, for finger muscle development.
Hand-jobs will never be the same.

OK…Phil trained arms directly for years but now they are fucking huge and can overpower his physique.

Phil Hill also was one who competed who stated he never trained quads until right before a contest. his quads were huge. Anyone thinking he didn’t train legs directly for years prior to that is not aware of all of the details.
Yup.

To clarify, my original post where I asked if I was correct in saying he only trained arms 4 weeks before the competition, I should have put for the anti-direct-work people that it’s clear he trained them directly in years past.

Phil’s progress… 2003 to 2010…

Damn!!! Thats impressive… He got way blacker

His legs have exploded over the years.

He is seriously falling right in line with many of the greats from Levrone to Cormier.

holy…god…what…fml

seeing someone who’s 120 put on 70lbs is always impressive…

but seeing someone who’s 220 put on 70lbs in even more impressive

disclaimer: I have no idea how much he weighs in either picture

The forearms.

What the hell does he do for those forearms?

I’m willing to bet that those guys trained the hell out of their arms up to a certain size point. Once there, they found that they were genetically gifted in arms, so the need to destroy them directly year round wasn’t necessary.
^This. I guarantee you that if Phil weren’t worried about being in proportion with himself, he’d still be busting his ass on arm day. If his arms keep improving along with everything else, then people would still whine about how he needs to bring up his delts and chest more.

Never think that just because this or that pro trains a certain way NOW that it’s how they’ve always trained.

Great series of pics above,… I wonder if Jay regrets taking Phil under his wing -lol

His shoulders and back stand out as the biggest improvements

Hopefully with a Sandow though.

I was thinking this exact thing this morning.

Honestly, I haven’t been this pumped for a specific Olympia competitor since Flex Wheeler. I only hope it goes right this time.

Heavy ones…something I usually don’t do.

Added back in now though.
