Hi all just wondering what your paused squat RM is compared to your unpaused squat RM. Gonna start Candito’s linear cycle and I’ve never done paused low bar squats before so I don’t quite know what weight to choose (did paused high bar as accessory previously tho). thank you!
if you had asked this like 2 months from now id give ya a solid answer…squat was 545 with a 425 paused but i just nailed a 495 pause and im not sure what the carryover is…honestly best thing to do is to pause squat to find out…everyone is so different and since you’ve never done them the correlation will probaly be much different compared to those of us who do them consistently
Take a day and do nothin but pause squats workin up to a 1rm. Then hit a couple lesser sets after for reps. This should give you a good feel on what your capable of.
Example: after warmup: ill use easy numbers…

I think mine is somewhere around 80-90%, but as people have said it will depend upon your normal squatting style, if you’re the type that divebombs into the hole to get a stretch reflex out then it will probably be a fair bit lower

I was doing pause squats last cycle after heavy sets.
My 1 rep max pause squat was about 90% of my estimated 1 rep max squat.
Mine is about 80% of my backsquat 1rm. But I also kind of dont see the point in working to a 1rm on an accessory lift even if still is a squat.
