I was wondering would this program be suitable for an in-season program?
I play football (american) but i live in england, i must quickly add that it is not taken as seriously as in the US and we only train twice a week and the standard is not as high.
As a result would i be able to handle this program during a season?
I have been doing Westside for skinny bastards and other types of compound movement programs for a long time and reached a plateau, I feel like i need a different type of program just for a change. So I guess Im asking would this program be suitable?
in case it matters my weight and lifts are:
weight:171lb
squat:286lb
bench:275lb
deadlift:330lb
many thanks

Your squat is low and/or your bench is high.
Maybe you need a real Westside split - two lower body days rather than one.
Especially as a footballer, you need more lower body strength.
I’ve done ABBH and QD as change-ups to Westside. Both were effective and broke up the routine. but Westside is the core program.

I don’t agree with the above statement, a traditional westside split would be too brutal in season, the best thing to do is lookup westside training and football on elitefts.com, the program designed there is a modified version made specifically for high school and college level football players. When we pick up in-season conditioning this fall, i’ll try and post what it is that we do, and wether or not i plan on following it or doing my own modified westside program.
Thanks for the input guys ill certainly have a look on elitefts again (not sure how i missed that in the past!)
hoosierdaddy if you could let me know when you start the program and how it goes id be very appreciative.
p.s. i hate telling people how much i squat i tend to sort of mumble cough 285 ish
im working on it though
thanks again to both of you
