Thanks BoneChiro, I’ve been makin sure I eat a lot to bring it all back. Made me pretty angry that night, just because of all the supplements I used (and thats $$ lol) and fuck hard work, makin sure I eat enough/sleep enough and get nothin in return. But yeah I’ll see how things go this Friday for squats. I’m pretty confident it’ll be much better!
Juggernaut haha oh there will be a day when you complain about it! As long as you keep at it. It’s just because I was expecting to hit around 410x10 on squat…and to BARELY make 365x10 is quite disappointing. Esecpailyl since I did 400x10 on the ramp when my low back and legs were in a state of fatigue.
Well I do have muay thai tonight…someone’s gonna get some! (lol jk) I’ll make sure I hurt the pads though.

By the way, what general nutritional strategy are you using? I am attempting carb cycling for the first time. It confuses the shit out of my family/friends/coworkers because one day I cannot even sniff a carb and the next day I am carrying rice around with me all day! If it doesn’t work at least I had fun fucking with everyone’s head. Good luck man.
My general nutritional strategy is:
-Eat a lot,
-Eat at least 1.25+ grams of protein per lb of bodyweight (preferably 1.5-2.0g per lb),
-Eat my veggies,
-Eat every 2-3 hours,
-Limit starchy carb intake besides my morning oatmeal,
-Have fruit (apples and bananas) and nuts (almonds, cashews) at will (preferably fruit earlier in the day and nuts later in the day).
I considered setting some macro goals, but in the past, trying to make things perfect has led to failure (too stressful). So now, I’m just keeping things as simple as possible, and if the results aren’t optimal, then I’ll start making changes (ie. add cardio, drop the milk and fruit, etc.).
I also allow myself to have some cheat meals throughout the week. I seldom go balls to the wall, but sometimes my food choices aren’t particularly healthy.
Jo3: Counting macro’s and cals is a bitch. Many authors here have said that it should not be neccessary for most of us unless we are dieting all out for a show. I like your fruit at will in the am and nuts at will latelr rule. I go through an incredible amount of almonds since it is difficult to find the recommended healthy fats in sufficient quantities elswhere. Thanks for the input, no one hesitates to talk training but nutrition is critical and seemingly not as fun to talk about.
STB: Are you saying you have gained 40lbs of relatively clean mass since starting BBB? Even for newb gains that is damn impressive. I am calling you out to post pics. Not because I do not believe you, but because I want to be shamed/inspired to bust my ass and eat more.
Rasturai: I am sure I will get there too!! Making faster strength gains on this program than any other I have tried. Do you wrap you’re knees or use anything besides a belt? Just wondering since I plan on being ridiculously strong (well stronger than I am now) soon.
How did you set up your diet juggernaut? sorry if I missed it? Are you following the anabolic diet or goin on your own thing?
For the squats I use no knee wraps and no belt. I don’t use anything, just 100% all out raw squats! lol
I’ve been lookin to buy a belt soon cause of a PL comp. I want to enter end of semptember and see what kinda max strength gains I’ve made from the program.
But yeah use no belt or anything…I got a squat vid on here you can check out in this thread…but it’s probably a few pages back if you want a look at how I squat and such.
I’m more of an oly squat…not too low bar placement, bit closer stance than most, oly shoes, and I go below parallel on each rep.
How are your squats coming…do you have trouble with anything in them? I’d invest in a good pair of oly shoes if you can afford them…they are pretty expensive…it’s actually the first pair of shoes I’ve ever spent some real money on haha the most expensive shoes I ever boght was 60 bucks and that was almost too much.
But the support and stability you feel in them is top notch. I wish I had got them earlier in my lifting…it really makes a WORLD of difference. If you get them you will absolutely never look back on squatting in anything else. and you will not accept anything else!
If you have time/camera post a vid of your squats man, maybe I can give you some pointers. Afterall, I am a squat fiend. lol

Hell i’m up just shy of 40lbs LOL i really doubt that’s all muscle but i couldn’t be assed reducing food my body would go on strike.
Yesterday i added in a whole can of Tuna just because i felt like it (lol)
dude, isn’t this your fifth week of training ever? 40 lbs wtf that’s a huge gain in that amount of time you might want to tone that down a lil bit lol
rasturai how old are you? Your squats would be damn impressive for a guy that only lifts weights but it sounds like you also do martial arts which makes it even more crazy
hey trav, i’m 19…yeah I do muay thai…lookin to get into judo/wrestling also just to be all round better. The muay thai conditioning is killer in classes, I like to restrict the amount of conditioning done so I can get stronger…it is hard to do both, but as long as I’m makin decent gains I’m happy…could never drop the muay thai though it is just too rewarding. Would like to work strictly on boxing more now though, because I find when my hands improve my all around game improves for muay thai…I have better feints and better set ups for kicks, knee’s…havin good hands is so important.
Shit you’re my age, though you’d be older. Guess I need to step it up a notch haha.
How did you get into fighting? I went to a boxing club for a few months when I was fifteen but I quit to make more time for hockey/football, wish I would have stuck with it.
Yeah I was the opposite. Everyone wanted me to play football but I didn’t I lifted weights and went to boxing, then later joined combat which was grappling, not for sport though…for combat. Real life. Then later switched to muay thai, still do some combat here n there…but mostly with muay thai.
I’ve always liked and been interested in fighting, that’s how I got into it. Few scraps here n there also you know how it is bein young lol.
Are you doin the 4x a week or 6x a week on this program?
I think my squat technique is good, but I will upload a vid when I have time. I never gave any thought to oly shoes. Where is a good place to get them? I will throw down some $ to improve my squat! I have been working a higher bar narrow stance squat and front squat on this program. previously I had been working a pl style squat but that seemed to do nothing for quads, hell of a posterior chain movement though.
I will say that I get now why squats are considered magical. The one thing I am absolutely positive I have seen improvement in is quad development.
Nutrition: I have been on a keto diet for the last year so I wanted to try and mix it up. First I tried the old school high carb low fat diett …Huge mistake, maybe it works for some people, but I have never went backwards so fast in my life.
I might be good for an all out bulker who isn’t to concerned abour fat gain and wants to get up to 300lbs, but not me. I have settled on carb cycling. I think it is slightly more advanced than the anabolic diet, although very similar.
Mon, Tues, Thur, Fri: Avoid all carbs whenever possible. Eat at or below maintenance calories.
Wed: Include fruit at every meal and as a snack (my version of medium carb day). Eat at or above maintenance.
Sat, Sun: Oatmeal and egg white breakfast, fruit with each meal, starch with either lunch or dinner. Aim for low fat and 500 cals above maintenance.

Hell no lol im just going to keep going i’m not missing out on some muscle being scared of fat
Summing up this way of doing things courtesy of “PaulieD” from the AD thread !

Sorry but this seems really wrong for BBB…
1000 cals above maintenance in the whole week?.. Your progress will stall very quick
You shouldnt have days where you eat “below maintenance” while trying to put on muscle…
Also… if I were you, I wouldnt be eating too many fruits as they contain a lot of sugar…
agreed. The volume of this program will take care of bodyfat. Eat enough to grow (not to be a fat pig, though. Use some common sense).
This is a growth program. Dont screw yourself and skew the results by mixing up your dietary practices. If you get more muscle you will burn more calories.
One goal at a time. Otherwise you lose in the end.

Today was just my fourth day on the 6-day split and even in the first ramp I find the volume impressive. The next two weeks are going to be a lot of fun! Think I might actually die next week with 90 seconds and an added set. Also, some of my problems could be related to the transition from a balanced diet to a diet devoid of any carbs besides green vegetables. 1st week of both. Big changes hopefully = big results.
yes, it will be rough. Just stick it out. I did and was rewarded well for it. Just keep showing up and plugging away. Keep your calories up too. Dont diet while you transition to the Anabolic Diet, and dont diet on this program either.
