Been on the site for a bout 2 weeks now posting all over the place but have not started a thread yet.
I am currently trying to loose weight for my wedding as well as get some muscle going on… I completely changed my food intake, diet and work out now 4-5 days a week. As a kid i was always fat and over weight probably in 35% body fat area. I did workout a lot and was taking greco roman and free style wrestling for 5 years. I def had some muscle on me and trained heavely for the sport 6 days a week.
When I was about 18 years of age and graduating high school i lost over 80lbs in about 6 months, while working out. That unfortunatly lasted for only about 1.5 years and I gained it all back in college because of the school work and bad eating habits.
Interestingly, I started going back to the gym 2 weeks ago to get ready for my wedding. I really dont think mircles will happen in 2 months, but I bet I can lose at least 20lbs and look “OK”.
I have noticed that my body remembers what muscles are and what working out is. It took about 1 week to get back on the cardio plan I was doing back in the day as well as being about my max right now is about 50% of what it was 7 years ago when I was in my top shape. which is about 200% greater then when I initially started working out.
2 weeks ago:
255lbs fat jelly bastard
Today
245lbs fat jelly bastard with more energy, look slimmer but still a long way to go. If I continue at this rate I am hoping to be around 230lbs at the day of my wedding.
Dont get be wrong, i still plan to workout and bulk up but at this point I really need to lose weight, i mean i need to lose my fat stomach and my jelly roles
also, i will be honest and admit im am not comfortable with posting a pic
230 is a reasonable goal for 40 days. That is 6 weeks, assuming you lose 2 lbs a week thats 12 lbs, give or take. Any more loss would be considered unhealthy in the eyes of most. It is nice to see someone with realistic goals related to time.
I would be more concerned about lowering your BF% than your overall weight. If you lift hard and do your cardio, you will lose less “weight” but more fat. I am certain you understand what I mean. In this way, you can still weigh 230 but appear much thinner due to increased muscle mass. Good luck.
Good call. Refer to my above post again. If you gain muscle mass, you will burn more calories automatically. If you burn calories, you’ll lose inches. A proper mix of weight training in with cardio as a staple would be great. Here is a simple suggestion.
NJRUSMC has the right idea and is defiantly guiding you down the right track. With two months as your target date, I would suggest using the Waterbury Summer Project Routine. You can adapt it slightly but you will really see results, especially in the BF%. The use of HIIT is key to losing BF. I used it myself and lost both BF and weight in general. Which ever routine you use, remember intensity is key not just the amount of iron you lift.
I also assume you know the essentials of a proper diet. There are a million articles here at T-Nation that describe it, so I will spare the lecture. Those 6 meals must be clean. Treat yourself to a cheat meal once a week if you must, but do not let it become a habit.

clean protein each meal, low carbs.
esentials im taking are blueberries every day. Lots of green veggies + some tommatos… im staying away from any other fruits outside of raspberries and blue berries.
im also thinking of getting that Superfoods mix by Biotest.
we also eat sushi once to twice a week which is consumed before workout ~30 min. I hated fish until now… all of a sudden its catfish fried in canola oil dipped in egg whites.
im pretty happy with my progress and will keep you guys posted.
well if it could yield better results it might be an option that he didnt consider i see that after his goals it might not be so necesary but if he can shed an extre 5-7 pounds and he is up for a challenge of will it could be beneficial ?
V-Diet could also interfere with wedding cake tasting and with the hard scheduele thats in planning a wedding ?
I find the V-Diet to difficult to maintain esp with a high metabolism woman at home who eats 6-8 times a day.
sigh…
2 HOT-ROX at 8am
9:30am - 3 egg white 1 slice turkey 1 slice swiss cheese whole wheat wrap. 4 cups of ice cold green tea + 2 fish oil caps.
I beleive that totals at around 500 cals.
200 cals for eggs
50 cals for turkey
80 cals for swiss cheese
170 cals for whole wheat wrap
next meal will be at ~ 11:30 most likely a myoplex protein bar for 300 cals.
I found that between pure protein bars which contain up to 15 grams of sugars and 40 grams of carbs and myoplex bars which have 32 grams of carbs and 28 grams of sugar alcohols + 2 grams fiber are much better… but i didnt really check the soy content of them.
Even if you are embarrassed for your size, you should post some pictures in your profile. It is sometimes hard to gauge your own progress by looking in the mirror 3x a day. We at T-Nation can give you more objective criticism. No one is going to flame you for swallowing your pride. Just a suggestion though.
You need to shoot for 7.5 hours becuase HGH and Testosterone arrive during the sleep cycle… each cycle is 90 mins long so you need to time this as close as possible to when you expect to fall asleep and wake up.
All of the diet and exercise and supplimentation in the world will not help you if you do not sleep and control your stress levels.
You need carbs for an effective workout. I would really look at the cross fit type workouts. Keep moving and keep lifting. If you workout 3x a week for an hour that is only 2% of the total time in a week you spend actively burning calories beyond your bmr. So you need to use the other 98% to the best of your ability. No alcohol until the wedding. No pizza or fast food.
Go there pay the money and get the results.
5,000,000 times better than than the V-Diet and a hell of a lot cheaper too
Alwyn is an unreal trainer when it comes to fat loss and mike knows his shit too.
Its a 30 day program, everyone who has done it says its unreal, i have bought it too for when i want to cut down.

unfotunatly i been getting about 6 hours of sleep… last night it was 5 because of the wifey… interestingly I cannot sleep longer then 6.5-7 hours … I get very nausious and dont feel well the whole day if I over sleep.
Alright try to keep it at around 6 hours of sleep then… you need to slow get into this (maybe after the wedding).
In the long run it will help you decompress the workday, workouts, and stuff that is going on. The down time allows the body to regrow, reenergize, and relearn everything from the day.
You might want to get a massage too. A good therapist will help correct any postural issues you have going on. What do you do for a living? If you are sitting down all day you will need to work in allot more rowing exercises… use the rower is your gym has one. This is great for developing the back as well as getting cardio in to train your heart.

I sit on my butt all day long. I did start going for very long walks during lunch time and coming back into the office to eat.
