Why seated dumbell press?[/quote]
Hypertrophy of the supporting muscle groups, TUT, unilateral work, points out noticeable weaknesses, conditioning, blood flow.
take ur pick.
Alternatively I think doing shoulder horn or seated dbell cleans would be interesting replacements. depends what you need.
dbell press works for me

It wouldnt be sports specific for O lifting.
I had the chance to train /watch some o lifters .One lifter was a 2 time silver medalist at the world games. At the time they were trining for the Asia games.
From what I ve seen ,they stay away from dumbells. And everthing ; except abs and bp ,everything is done standing.
Like I said , Im no expert.
When I did train with them. I did standing push press, squats and deadlifts .This was done three times a week for 6 weeks.I was doing anywhere from 24 -30 total sets per workout.THe weight wasnt that heavy , however my form was really tight. The second I screwd up they d let me know.O lifting is really about form and knowing when to accelarate.
If you sat seated dumbell shoulder press works for you , then who am I to say. But Im just telling u whatI saw
I have Jim Schmitz book and tape.I dont think they are that great. However , I ve read many articles from him ,and he really knows his stuff.
I ve seen his book and tape on Ebay several times
