Thanks dude

Coach’s order actually. Says its more biomechanically efficient, but harder to master. Our club only power jerks now, with the exception of members before 1998, when he still taught spliting.

Well get that jerk up, since you could probably power clean those weights!
Good luck in your training.

Yeah i suppose it is a bit more efficient of a movement but so hard to balance. I find that there is more room for error with the split even if i have to put more stank on it to get room to split. I like the idea tho. The concept of only training push jerk is ballzy. I love balls.

What is your full clean max at? its gotta be at 120 or more cause Kroll is right, you pulled those cleans high as fuck. That’s what i do in competition, power clean the shit out of the bar. I dont mean to but i just catch it high and then go “oh cool, Ill save myself the effort of squatting i suppose.”

Yeah, biomechanically its more efficient. But it’s hella scary getting under it, thats why I still have problems locking out. I’m essentially push pressing like 117kg

My full clean is like 117.5kg. I have a really high pull, but have problems wrapping my elbows around and locking tight. It’s more of a mental thing. I just gotta really work on the cleans.

On a bonus note. Did two rep PRs today. 80kg x 3 and 90kg x 2. My coach must like watching us suffer since these percentages were actually prescribed on the work out. FUUUUUU.

I think its only more efficient if you do a full squat since the drive on a split or power/squat jerk ought to be the same. Consequently, I think that it doesn’t really matter which style you use if you have a lot of drive.

great, I had a huge long thing written up and i hit the back button. grr

anyhow, been sporadic last two weeks of training b/c of working 40hrs + of retail at my apple store, and no where to train but my coaches house, which I was at last tuesday.

clean and jerked 90kg 4 times, meant to be five but 4th set was a failed clean, 10 second rest, rough clean and failed jerk. then I failed at squats, which I haven’t since i quit powerlifting, had 122 for 2 sets of 5, and I hit 3 reps, then 2, then I tried to do singles to make up the reps, and got crushed and gave up. Quite humbling.

today went in and did some powersnatchs and overhead squats up to 57 and some clean and jerks up to 70.

kinda tapering down into the FDU Open, and trying to make weight as a 94 so I can have a chance @ a medal of some sort. I’m just hoping for 73 and 100 instead of the 80/105 I wanted because I’m in the middle of a prep cycle not the comp cycle I wanted to be in.

Yeah the jerk no matter how you slice it is some hard shit.

With the clean i hear you on elbow speed. only after my first collective year of OLing have I developed enough timing to truely wrap the bar with any speed.

Hi everyone,

I came across this forum the other day and was impressed.

I’m a very mediocre lifter, currently a Masters lifter, and will be competing next at the FDU (Madison, NJ) meet next Saturday in the 69kg class.

My best lifts are 86/108, though I never reached those in my old weight class (62kg).

Anyhow, hope you don’t mind someone new hanging out here on occasion.

Can someone tell me how to embed vids? Thanks!

I’m pretty sure all you gotta do is type out a link to youtube and the forum automatically embeds it for you.

500m fixed gear bike on turbo trainer
37.75s! PB by 3seconds! CNS must be well recovered! I was hitting 40.5 pre holiday

39.87! Sweet! Still under 40s on my 2nd set!

felt very rough after this…had to lie down for 30mins squirming on the floor, stood up, rushed to the sync and promptly threw up all of my dinner that SquatHouse had cooked! Doh! Not nice at all, just felt terrible, the lactic was insane…felt A LOT better after throwing up though…
