-[]------[]- Olympic Lift Numbers/Log 2 -[]------[]-

I went down to the North of England Open yesterday with one of our lifters Robin Fourman for his first comp.

He weighed in at 81.4 kg and is 17.

He went 65/70 in the snatch narrowly missing 71 for a PB.

In the Clean and Jerk he went 75/80/85 for a huge 7.5 kg PB.

He totaled 155 and came 3rd in the 85kg Class.

It was also my first BWLA comp (all be it down as a coach and not lifting) and I was pretty impressed with the officials and the set up every one was very friendly and it was a good day of lifting.

I was at provincials yesterday with Avocado, little less successful though. I bombed in the snatch at 115, lost the first one out front (think I looked down in the hole), think I swung the second one a bit and lost it behind me, and lost the 3rd one out front as well. Frustrating, but I managed to regroup and go 3/3 in the clean and jerk, hitting 140, 145, and 150 for a 7kg comp PR. Little arm wobble on the jerk at 145, but otherwise really solid.

I’m in the black, avocado’s in the yellow.

Man i totally should have had that 100kg the last time. dammit. my legs look small too. I gotta grow them shits.

you crazy 94s

Jonty’s a 105. And Im not really a 94. Just a lazy soft 85. speaking of which off i go to spin class right after this pure eggnog latte.

Didn’t do much today. Knee still hurts, did a lot of light squats/bodyweight squats, some push jerks. Just messing around with light weights doing just about anything. I’m thinking of simply resting till friday, I don’t know…

Hello Jonty

Nice video´s - i´m woundering about you´re starting position, is it the angel of the video? - It looks like, youre starting very low in a narrow stance…? love to see some more videos…

Best regards Tulle

Well, as far as the stance goes, I feel strong and fast in that stance, so I think it pretty much works for me. As for starting low, I assume you’re talking about the snatch and not the c+j, and I have had problems starting the pull sitting too far back, I can’t really tell from the video but that may have happened here.

TheJonty I could not really tell from the video but wtf was wrong with the snatches at the meet? 115kg was going pretty high.

damn avocado u power everything exept the last clean. Btw u totaly don’t look like an 85kg, I also though u were a 94kg.

I think it was a combination of being a little bit nervous (first comp in like 5 months, shouldn’t matter but sometimes I put too much pressure on myself), not pulling all the way through and leaving the bar a touch out front maybe, and looking down when I drop into the hole. Soon as I look down, the upper back rounds and the bar comes forward. And on the second one I think I tried to adjust and overcompensated and swung it behind me. Frustrating as all hell because it felt light and I was hoping to hit a 120 that day, but I guess that’ll just have to wait.

And yeah, avocado decided he was going to be lazy and didn’t want to squat anything. Fucker. And he’s actually not an 85 (competed at 94, weighed in at 92-93 or something), he likes to think he is, but until he actually drops the fat and weighs in at 85 I’m not buying it.

SquatHouse has inspired me to get on the fixed gear bike and turbo trainer for some velodrome action in the spring!

1kilometer: 1:31:xx smashed, got off the bike and my legs were nearly buckingly underneath me…had to lie down and rest for aobut 40mins…felt strong at 45kph till the 500m mark then my legs starting a savage bout of LACTIC and started slowing down, worked really hard to try and keep it at 40kph, the last 160m was MURDER, legs barely moving…savage!

Dry heaved twice…savage

500m: gunned it out, but towards the end my foot got off the cleat so that ruined my time. Peak speed 63.xxKph! Nearly threw up after this and the 500m was harder on me then the 1kilo as I was all out for as long as I could go!

Any of you guys have any experience with a fixed gear/ turbo trainer/ velodrome?

It was my first time using a fixed gear bike, turbo trainer and racing cleats!

Well coach was gone for some days so after a week I went again today. I was kinda frustrated cause I went twice for nothing and its a 1.5 hour trip there and back, but whatever, at least my knee got rest. Weird thing is now the knee or the tendon doesnt hurt but instead the middle of the shin hurts.

snatch 170, tried around 5 times 72.5 only got 2.
clean and jerk up to 95 3 times, got only the first, too tired/too slow after that
back squat 4
115, 2125, 1130 coach decided for some reason to max out. next time ill go for 4*117.5

Here are some of the snatches. the last one I missed partially due to not being tight enough at the end but nevermind that, I’d really like some comments on how to improve… not jumping forwards and not throwing the bar forward. My coach tells me to pull the bar in with my arms after it passes my knees so that it explodes up from my legs? I don’t get it cause still when I reach the top position I think the bar will hit my pelvis and be thrown forward… btw I never felt the bar hit the pelvis today, but it still seems to be going forward a lot.

Also yesterday ended the greek nationals. Since im around 110kgs and its going to take another year till the next ones, I have about a year to reach high enough numbers to compete. I’ll be either in 105 or 105+ Heres the results of the last ones (M are misses):

105
Snatches Clean and jerks Total
110,0 116,0M 116,0M 135,0 140,0M 142,0 252,0
110,0M 110,0 115,0M 130,0 135,0 140,0 250,0
105,0 115,0M 115,0M 130,0M 130,0 135,0M 235,0
100,0 105,0 110,0M 125,0 130,0 135,0M 235,0
100,0 120,0 220,0

105+
Snatches Clean and jerks Total
110,0M 110,0 115,0M 135,0 145,0M 145,0 255,0
105,0M 105,0 112,0 141,0M 141,0 146,0M 253,0
90,0 102,0 112,0M 116,0 128,0 135,0M 230,0
85,0 90,0 95,0M 110,0 120,0M 125,0M 200,0
60,0 110,0 170,0

I don’t really understand how come some are low because according to some papers you need around 250~ total to compete but whatever. I guess my goal should be around 230 by this time next year. For now I’ll just try to reach 200 in a couple months until the comp in january. Goal for Back squat is to be at least 140 by then, maybe more like 150.

lordstorm88, if you rock in with a reasonable total of about 220-230 or so they will probably let you lift. Get a total of thereabouts and then fill in the application form. They can only reject you mate.
