That decision really was stupid. If you are going to take it away from Ronnie, at least pick the guy that actually fits the new criteria they supposedly are pushing and doesn’t have a gh gut with matching gh enduced bullet proof forehead.
No offense, but are you saying Jay has a gh gut?
when i do the comparison of 05’ & 06’ Jay’s photo. his abs is not as bloated as last year.
Yes, I am. I could care less about comparing Jay from 2005 to Jay of 2006. Comparing MOST of these guys to bodybuilders just 15 years ago shows a huge difference in stomach distention. Mind you, they are dieted down and depleted. That is why bodybuilders from years past could do a vaccuum. Their stomachs are EMPTY and that is the best they can do at pulling them in. You get to see how big their distention really is when they are relaxed.
If you see any of those guys in regular clothes, if it weren’t for the veins you see in their arms or their facial features, most of them would look fat. If you didn’t know this, go back to some of those pictures posted in the bodybuilder picture thread and compare physiques from the 80’s and early 90’s. It should be blatantly obvious to you. The fact that it isn’t is strange.

Who fooled you into believing that getting into contest condition is about health?
I assumed.
I can understand why you might believe that, but the condition these guys are in on stage is NOT healthy. They won’t even look like that for very long which is one thing I don’t think many newbies even understand. They are playing with their body water which is why they might look very different between the prejudging and the final contest. The condition these guys are in is also what many kidney failures and other issues is blamed on.
It might look really cool to walk around at 5% body fat with all water drained from your body, but health isn’t a part of it.
I’ve already posted this in the other thread, but if anyone watched the press conference at the bottom of page 2, Ronnie replies to the “stupid question” of whether or not,win or lose, he will be back next year. He believes God put him on the Earth to be the Olympia and thats exactly what he’s gonna do. He will be back next year. Should be interesting to see if he ups the ante some how.

Ronnie has already sent the above card to the IFBB.
My question is how does someone at Culter’s level significantly improve at a rate that would surpass Coleman? More drugs? Better training? Or this whole thing a farce and they just decided to give to Jay for once?

Not to discredit Jay, the man has put in the work and is incredibly developed, but I just don’t see how he beat Ronnie (especially by the margin he did, like 16 points I think). Seeing as how they have given the title to Ronnie 8 times already, I don’t really see why they would be adverse to giving it to him again, maybe when you are there in person its a different story.

I agree. From the pics, Ronnie still looked bigger and better than Jay, albeit by a slight margin. The strong/weak points were still much the same as in previous years. Ronnie’s chest far surpassed Jay’s and his back retained more detail; legs were close but methinks Ronnie still had the edge, and his bi’s are still awesome. Jay obviously still had the great delts and was about equal in lat width; has slightly better abs but not enough to matter. Granted, over all size was very similar, but I don’t see how he beat him. I guess I am a little biased in that I would have preferred to see him break the record and retire next year, let the new blood take over.
Other of the top players came in a little off this year. I felt Gustavo’s placing was a gift and Melvin and Dexter’s 5th and 4th stould out like dog’s balls amongst the bigger guys, and I’m still not a Dexter fan. Considering the top placings being given to the big guys, I was surprised Ruhl didn’t place higher; and I thought Paco was a bit overlooked considering that GH bellies didn’t seem to matter so much. Congrats to “X-Man” Toney Freeman for coming 7th in his 1st Olympia, a gret achievement particularly considering the lineup he was up against.

That guy has made the best improvement out of anyone I’ve seen in a long time…which is saying a lot considering how tall he is (6’2" I believe).
Coleman will win his 9th straight. But i agree with someone who wrote earlier about enjoying it more without the growth gut. You don’t see many freaks like Arnold now that had a small waist and had lats that spread like wings

The reason coleman lost was that his once mighty back had a major flaw in it this year. His left lat looked like it had been torn and his left tricep is also screwed.
In myopinion coleman was lucky to get 2nd as martinez also had the better of him. Also Ruhl bein 8th is rediculous when coleman and jay get rewarded for their physiques and he does the freaky mass better than anyone.

Yeesh, how did I miss that? (maybe I am just full of shit in the first place). Now I see it. OK, I guess Jay deserves it anyway after pushing Ronnie to his limits all these years. It will be interesting to see if Ronnie contests next year. Much as I am a fan, I hope he doesn’t - the Jay vs Ronnie thing was already getting old.
I just want to take time to say that Ronnie was a great and inspirational champion, known for his strength and work ethic as much has his physique. He was the guy bustin ass under the big iron while others were trying to stay light and ‘feel’ the muscle. Not only that, but he was even flexible enough to do a full split even in his heavier years. A guy who got respect from the strength athletes as well as the BB fans. Nothing ‘unfunctional’ about him.
Honestly I personally don’t think it is possible for Joe Weider to let anyone eclipse the 9 win mark. I just don’t think Ronnie was going to win regardless of what condition he came in. The margin comes in at 16 or so points, and in past years it’s been much closer?
I don’t know I think Ronnie looked like you’d expect, maybe his back has fallen a bit, but overall he’s still Ronnie Coleman and he more than likely should have won.
I also think that Gunter got hosed placing 10th. For a big guy he has symmetry and he carries his size very well. Maybe he’s a bad poser, or not “dry” enough but I found him to be extremely impressive this year, almost to his conditioning when he beat Coleman back in '02.
