Olympia Predictions?

Any one want to post predictions for the Olympia?

Before I start this post, I want to note the following comments commonly brought up whenever stuff like the Olympia is brought up:
“Bodybuilding isn’t a sport”
“Bodybuilders are all weak, they’re not real athletes”
“Who cares about bodybuilding?”
etc etc etc…

With these comments noted, it would be nice if future posters refrained from giving them further attention.

IN any case, here are my predictions:

Ronnie vs Jay - I don’t think many doubt that Ronnie will break Lee Haney’s record this year. Chad Nicholls has said he is gonna bring him in similar to 2003 but slightly heavier. If he does this he will be unbeatable despite Jay’s efforts. The big question is, will he retire? Much as I am a fan, I certainly hope he steps aside and lets the new blood take over. He has nothing left to prove in the sport.

As for Jay, I think he knows this could very well be his last chance to take Ronnie down; and therefore will be freakier than ever. It’s funny, the Ronnie/Jay thing, they have clearly pushed one another to this next level.

Looking at the competitors this year, the top ten could be more competitive than has been seen in a long time.

OLD HANDS:
Dexter Jackson - I never got why this guy gets such big props. Yeah, he has packed substantial muscle on a smaller, more aesthetic bone structure and can get into freakish condition. But he is not completely without distention and has high lats; so how does he have such a great overall ‘package’, the thing that people seem to talk about most? In any case the judges seem to like him and third place is likely. He is also the only one (apart from Ronnie) to have beaten Jay in recent years.

Gustavo Badell - Similar in structure to Jay but has not offset it with unbelievabley wide delts the way Jay has. Was good last year and could get as high as third, but if the up-and-comers make a move he could get pushed out of the top five.

Gunther Schlienkampf - It will be interesting to see how Gunther comes in this year. Apparently he has really been working on his back and tris and he could be closely competitive with someone like Gustavo; but with his thick hips I still don’t think he is in contention for the big title; despite that infamous GNC win against Ronnie years ago.

Dennis James - KNown for looking fantastic a few weeks out and blowing it on the day. Has an awesome bone structure and is mountains of muscle, especially the chest and delts. Could easily make top five if all goes well.

Markus Ruhl - Was 5th in 2004 but came in softer and smaller after apparently trying to bring down his belly in 2005 and finished 15th. He has now the stated goal of going back to his freakish ways. His chest/trap/delt combo gives him an inhumanly powerful look from the front, but his back detail has always been a weak point. IN any case, his placing will depend heavily on whether the direction for less distension is applied.

Darrem Charles - Has a very aesthetic physique but hasn’t changed a lot over the years. It’s hard to see him placing higher than he has in the past; although the distention rule, if applied, will certainly work to his advantage.

DARK HORSES:
Victor Martinez - Presumably to Jay’s great frustration, this is the guy many are tipping as the heir apparent. This guy has the most mesomorphic structure since Sergio Oliva and could provide a unique combination of mass and aesthetics which would be tough to beat. My prediction is that he will wait till at least next year before making any big moves and playing his hand; and instead come in just a little better than last year to make top five.

Branch Warren - Has made leaps and bounds in his physique in the last couple years. While Victor, Jay and Dexter are the names most commonly brought up as the next Mr. O, this guy has a rugged, powerful look to his physique, reminiscent of Dorian Yates; and with some work could take it away from them all. I would say he is more likely to make a move sooner rather than later and a top 3 finish is not completely out of reach for this guy. Awesome, particularly in the chest and legs, the latter arguably the best in the sport at the moment.

Tony Freeman - Big and tall, another with a classic mesomorph’s physique. With a bit more muscle he could be a top contender.

What do you guys think?

I guess it’s whomever pays the judges off the best this year…but Coleman will probably win again.

I’ll respect bodybuilding more when they go back to the classic type of physique and not the GH bloated cows we have now.

Who cares? A bunch of ugly looking mofos with no aesthetics and a bunch of bloated muscle.

I’ll take Arnold Schwarzenegger, Frank Zane, Mike Mentzer, Serge Nubret, Bill Pearl, Steve Reeves, Larry Scott, and any other bodybuilder that actually had a nice BODY. The only recent bodybuilder that even looked sorta pleasing to the eye was Flex Wheeler… he should have won every competition he was in.

So much for whoever is judging these fools, they all look like shit! I hope they all win “steroid-pumper of the year award and still look like shit.”

Mr. Olympia contest is a disgrace. As soon as Ronnie maxes out on the most amount of steroid pumped muscle possible on a human being, maybe they will turn the tables and start looking for people that actually have nice BODYS.

  1. Jay
  2. Ronnie
  3. Branch
  4. Gustavo

Its gonna be hard for Jay, but i think ronnie is letting if off to be too easy and jay is gonna slide through. Jay has been one of my favorite bodybuilders so i have to go for him, but there my top 4 pic.

Sorry, I forgot about the ‘bodybuilders today are all too juiced up and ugly’ comment. Can we please just leave this thread for people who have something to say on the stated topic??

Ronnie all the way…

Chis Cormier’s prediction is ?

Ronnie!

this is sad to hear, as I would almost bet money he will when but I was hoping pro bodybuilding was trying to move beyond the mass monsters.

I honestly believe who ever is in charge thinks ronnie taking #1 again will be good for the sport. What they really need is some fresh faces and a new look.

If Ronnie comes in looking like he does every year, he will take it unless Jay has made great progression in his physique. If you watch the videos it is very obvious no one has near the body of Ronnie.

Ronnie will win, Jay will be 2nd, blah blah blah.

I can’t wait until Ronnie and Jay retire, maybe then the judges will start judging to my taste.

Yeah, fat chance!

Dark horse: Phil Heath!

Oups sorry he qualified but wont compete. But he is the next big thing, only 26, 5’9", 28inch waist. Sorry dont have his other stats, I saw my trainer today and he mentionned him… He also mentionned Martinez. Really curious who will win this year, Cutler or Ronnie. I have a feeling Cutler will be bigger than ever without a doubt.

Jay Cutler’s 2006 Mr. Olympia Nutritional Strategy:

Weight: 283 lbs. - 8 weeks out.

Cardio 45 minutes.

Meal 1 15 egg whites, 2 whole eggs & 1 cup of Ezekiel cereal.

Meal 2 11 ounces of ground chicken & 2 cups of rice.

Workout Training session #1.

Meal 3 12 ounces of fish & 3 cups of rice.

Meal 4 14 ounces of fish & 1 cup of rice.

Meal 5 12 ounces of ground chicken & 1 cup rice.

Workout Training session #2.

Meal 6 10 ounces of fish & 1 cup Ezekiel cereal.

Possibly coming in at around 270?

His training video (where that pic was taken from) isn’t bad at all either. he just doesn’t have much of a “tv personality”. Ronnie is funnier to watch, at least to me. Dexter trains hard though and his leg development in that video is ridiculous.

Bigjoey,

Are they showing this on TV in Aus? If so what channel?

Sorry Bro, I gotta disagree with ya on the Dexter Jackson thing, Dexter is a FREAK!!, and has what I believe to be the new type of physique that the judges are looking for, and Victor Martinez is coming on real strong as well.

I think it is possible that Jay Cutler could become the next Nasser El Sonbaty, being that everytime he gets his body just about perfect for what the judges want, they change the criteria just enough to set him back, and before ya know it, he has been competing for ever and never won .

Not as far as I know.

Speaking of Dexter…

And Flex.

I’m gonna have to go with Big Ron! I just don’t see Cutler beating him at his own game. Dexter, possibly, but the crowd favorite is Ronnie. He’s gonna come in looking phenomenal so he can break Lee’s record.

I heard something about Jay shaving his head for the Oylmpia? Either way I hope he pulls first , dont think it will happen but he is my fav to win.

I hope Branch gets top 5 as well.
