Old School Training Methods

Hey, I’m currently in a situation where I can’t rely on proper training equipment. I’m on a small island in Thailand, and I have little but coconuts to train with.

Has anyone been in a situation where they had to get really creative to train? What were your solutions to training without typical gym equipment? I’ll start with what I’ve got so far:

Ropes hanging from a rafter for pullups and dips (gymnast style)
Sandbag curls & swings (kettleball substitute)
Pick a log up off the ground, front squat it for a set, and slam it down (like a Tauren would do)
Carry a log walking across sand.

What other functional strength-training methods can you guys add?

afind the biggest log you can find, tilt up one end and squat it like that… attack rope to heavy logs and tie it around your waist.stone carries. If you have the net can’t you order a 300 pound olympic set? could go MUCH farther OLY lifting then with what nature provides.

Plyometrics and bag o’sand. And run while carrying objects through the water.

Tie rope around your waist and the log, then get running. Push a car, flip a tire (not car or bicycle).

Zercher squats/carries with the log maybe.

Sounds like you’ve got it figured out already. All of your ideas will make an ass-kicker of a routine.

You can use the sandbag or log for floor presses, push/military presses, and rows too. The rope from the rafters, if its a big enough diameter can be used for rope climbs or tie it to something for sled drags or pulling heavy objects.

I think there was a Gilligan’s Island episode where the Professor made an entire multi-station Nautilus machine out of coconuts, bamboo and vines.

8^)

and cheaper than the original

If there are rocks then you could lift them and maybe throw them if they arent too heavy.
