Congrats!
Yesterday I did a bunch of snatches that felt really good and fast and did triples up to 52kg. I’ve been missing a lot of lifts at 45kg so I’m pleased with that. Last night I had a bunch of painful hamstring muscle spasms and I was worried I injured myself but it seems I was fine today.
Tonight my snatches were decent again but I’m still jumping back on one side and it’s screwing me up. I can sometimes get me feet to land straight if I think about it but it’s really inconsistent.
Attempted 58kg 4 times but no go though I hit 55kg twice so I’m happy with that because I’ve been struggling with snatches so much lately. I really need to keep the bar close AND land with my feet straight!
clean & jerk
35x2
45x2
50x2
55x2
60x1 nice jerk
65x0 lousy clean & missed jerk
65x1
68x0 overpulled on clean (ouch), missed jerk
68x0 no jerk
68x0 clean sucked again, hit my chin on jerk attempt I have a nice bruise now
68x0 no jerk
back squats(lbs) - hip was okay but I didn’t go too heavy
135x5
145x5
155x5
165x3
175x3
185x3,3,3
clean pulls - still not too good at these and learning how to use straps.
35x3
45x3
55x3
68x3
74x3
my coach puts together these workouts that have all of these pulls and presses and overhead squats and stuff and i don’t like them. i feel like the only lifts that should be prescribed in the training are front and back squats and snatch and clean and jerks (including some power stuff). I’ve been starting to pick and choose what i see beneficial and do those lifts. does anyone else feel like a simple (but heavy) training can yield some kick ass results?

Your bro is awesome, Koing. He also looks like you, lol.[/quote]
You reckon? I don’t think he does really.
Yeah he has a lot of skills and works very hard in the gym. It has been interesting seeing him grow up from the point of view that I have seen him over the past 5yrs with a more experienced eye. I saw my other bro lift from 15 to 26 as well but I was a beginner for at least 3yrs, so I didn’t pick up on things.

You do pretty much what I do now.
FS to max, 2 drop downs
Sn to max
CJ time permitting
PJ if time permitting

Caught a 175kg clean and jerk on film today. The recovery on the jerk was a fair bit more work than the only other time I’ve hit this weight, but still good. As a bonus the film includes me flubbing a 180kg clean twice.
Anyone have any opinions on ART for thigh/hip pain? And reasons not to? I think I have knots in my quads that are bothering my PSOAS. Not sure though but rolling on a tennis ball gets rid of it temporarily.

I had Graston technique done on my iliopsoas complex and sartorius. Hurt like a bitch but my pain was gone immediately.

I have no personal experience as it pertains to ART and pain and olympic lifting, but I can’t see how it would be a bad thing. Definitely worth a shot I’d say. Also, is psoas supposed to be in all capitals?
EDIT: Reasons not to → could induce tears
or maybe that’s just me

That’s awesome man!
I am just starting again after knee surgery, shoulder dislocation and all that jazz. In the same weight class so I’ve got quite some catching up to do!

No the all caps was me, not sure why I did that
I just got back from being all stretched out and mangled and poked at and it felt pretty good actually. She said it would be uncomfortable but it wasn’t.
I’ve never been a to a chiropractor before and I am generally unreasonably skeptical of everything We’ll see how that goes. I didn’t tell her what I thought was wrong but she came to the same conclusion.

Chiropractors are awesome. Just get one who is ART qualified, and who didn’t get his DC like 30 years ago, lol. My guy graduated in 2007 but he’s awesome. Going him tomorrow actually to get some work on my right QL.
