I tried some snatch pulls tonight after snatching. Geeze they suck lol. I was able to go heavier than I expected though, doing triples up to 60kg and the 63kg for a double and a single 65kg (then my hands were raw). Here’s my 65kg. Is that what it should look like? I think the bar is getting away from me a bit. I totally felt like I could snatch 65kg after doing that though

Looks great imo.

My coach says when to pull to pull like you and after the push you end up going forwards a tad…

2 ways to pull:
Try and keep your arms straighter for longer and only bend at the elbows to stop you breaking your arms and to keep the bar close

Pull the bar as high as you can at the end, Chinese style, no experience with this personally as my coach never does this.

I don’t teach pulls to my lifters. I only get then to do pulls if they need to. I teach them with minimal arm bend at the end.

Go heavier, you look good for 75kg.

Was feeling good when I got there, then realised I wasn’t going to be lifting untill 7pm!!! Last time I competed in Mytholmroid I was home for 6. Had some food and had a 10min nap in my car.

Warming up snatches felt rather lackluster. Missed 100 in the warmup room so on the platform.

100 slow but solid, then I had a massive wait, so 103 in the warmup
105x behind
105x1

Clean and jerks
120 solid, said to my coach to choose my next weight but my 3rd was going to be 135 regardless
130, pinned and then BOOM. Best jerk I’ve done in my life
135x just too much on the day

235 total. 1kg Compatition snatch pb and a 13kg comp clean and jerk pb 14kg on my total since May. 5kg short of the English champs, I might get let in on that though. Overall I came 3rd (out of 9) in the 94’s behind two very good lifters. Happy with this, especially given conditions of the day. Here’s the vid.

Looked good mate, first 105 looked like a joke, you stuck it on your last attempt

Jerks looked good. Suprised you didn’t get out of the Cleans easier. Stuck the 130 really well after a fairly tough Clean, good job!

Focus on keeping our chest up and try and catch the bounce better for the Cleans. Helps immensely to make the Cleans easier to save more for the Jerks. But it looks like your better at making Jerks after a tough Clean than I am!

Congrats on your PB’s mate! 107/108 wasn’t out of question on the day mate!

Hopefully see you at the English!

WTF?!

I wasn’t allowed to lift due to a form error. I had known that at the English and British Champs you enter in for one weight class and that was the one you competed in. You have to qualify for it. But at regionals in the past 12yrs no one had ever cared whatever class I was in. BUT at this comp they did. I had my coach mark the 94 and 105 classes for me as I wasn’t sure which one I was going to be in. Comp organisers picked the first one so that f0cked me…I was over the 94 so they did not let me lift. They would not let me lift in the 105’s. It has been the first time this has been pulled up in my 12yrs of lifting at regional comps. They didn’t let about 5-7 other lifters lift also. It’s a bit of a p!ss take imo…it’s not a qualification comp or anything…but rules are rules so that was f0cking annoying to say the least.

I had lost about 2kg since my last comp, mainly in part to being ill on Tue/ Wed.

Got my next comp booked on the 17th December. Weightlifting and CROSSFIT competition! LOL

Weightlifting part consists of a regular Oly comp then a few hrs later we have the CrossFit section…

As many rounds of in 10minutes as possible
60kg Cleans x 6
12 pull ups
24x double unders

the first 2 are going to be easy, the double unders are going to be a nightmare…if I get more then 2 rounds I’ll be lucky imo. I can’t remember ever doing double unders let alone 24 of them…it’ll take about 5minutes to get 24 doubles done!

I’ll get to work on the skipping element…

Koing

PS one of my boys qualified for the British Masters! Booyah! f0cking booyah!

75/105 @ 82.xxkg or so

From nearly bombing on the Sn to a HUGE 97 to 105kg glory CJ to qualify  That is how we roll! Immense effort! Really happy and proud for you mate! First lifter I’ve coached to make a British Masters

105 was 4kg over his best in training and I don’t think he’s ever tried it.

I knew we had to start on at least 75 to give him a fighting chance for the CJ. Really didn’t think we’d only get 75 on the Sn but sometimes that how it goes. But 75 was high enough imo to give him a chance to make 180 with 105 and he stepped up when it mattered and qualified. Congrats mate!

That’s a shitty deal on not getting to lift and only being 0.4 away, that’s really one good bowel movement. One of my pet peeves is when organizers for smaller meets that maybe don’t mean as much in the grand scheme of things are dicks about stuff like that.

Also, what the hell’s a double under?

I think he’s talking about jumping rope lol. A double under is when the rope goes around you twice while you’re in the air. Stallone does them during the training montage in one of the Rocky movies haha.

Fuck yeah

[quote]alexus wrote:

I will but it will be crazy when you see my attempt at the kipping pull ups LOL, it’s like a salmon jumping out of water LOL. The skipping is going to be dodgy as well. Going to have to work on that but my main focus is the Oly stuff. I want to finish the year strong. I can’t have a bomb on the Sn and a Did Not Start!

lol @ Jonty! We want to beat that crazy Chinese girl…182kg odd CJ…

IT’s not as if I haven’t done this meet either. I’ve done this meat at least 7x over the past 12yrs in December! I compete there up to 3x a year!

It’s just a rule that no one has ever called on a regional meet as in general the regional meets have more people and more beginners then the Nationals meets where people need to qualify.

Double unders is where the rope goes around twice and I jump once. I feel that it’ll take about 50-70 skips to get 24 done as I never do double unders.

Gotcha. More volume leading up to a comp is not the way forwards. Do the minimum to stay fresh and to be able to lift. More volume would seem to tire you out more.

It’ll get better and you hit some PB’s

I was thinking that but I have the other comp booked and it’s closer for me. Your competing at the comp right?

Take it easy on the wrist. Is it a big injury? I had to pull out of a comp due to an injury this year. I couldn’t Sn 90kg in the warm up area…

Dont think so…hurts in cleans and when picking up weight plates (if I pinch grip them). Snatches it’ dapper. Going to see how it feels cleaning tomo, will back squat in the morning to give it some more rest.

I need to taper differently to my next comp (not the one on saturday) because I feel I lose too much strength with how I’ve done for the last few comps, and my lines were gash in the snatch and cleans.

The Central and SW open is just going to be for platform experiance and to lift somewhere different than Mytholmroid (you ever lifted there?). If I feel good on the day I’ll shoot for the 240+ total. If I’m feeling gash I’ll go for a 6 out of 6.

No chance I’ll be doing double unders or kipping pullups at my comp!
