Dont think so…hurts in cleans and when picking up weight plates (if I pinch grip them). Snatches it’ dapper. Going to see how it feels cleaning tomo, will back squat in the morning to give it some more rest.
I need to taper differently to my next comp (not the one on saturday) because I feel I lose too much strength with how I’ve done for the last few comps, and my lines were gash in the snatch and cleans.
The Central and SW open is just going to be for platform experiance and to lift somewhere different than Mytholmroid (you ever lifted there?). If I feel good on the day I’ll shoot for the 240+ total. If I’m feeling gash I’ll go for a 6 out of 6.
No chance I’ll be doing double unders or kipping pullups at my comp![/quote]
Aight. Yeah find a way to make it work for you.
Take it easy on your wrists and don’t blow it up as it’ll just set you back weeks/ months
I’ve done about 2 or 3 comps at Mythomroid. I think in 2008 I racked 150 twice but I couldn’t stand up with it
The double unders will be savage to say the least…going to have a go tonight.

Wont go into depth with this mornings training as I’m training later at the club, but I just got a 120 clean with a two second pause at the knee with no wrist pain. Actually worked well as I was making sure I was BOLT upright and punching my elbows super quick.
Bet it was raining when you were in Mytholmroid, microclimate of sh1t.

Good to hear mate but take it easy on the wrists. Sn is a killer on wrists if they are ‘tweaked’.
oh yeah LOL the guys that competed on Saturday ‘felt’ okay but all lifted/ felt terrible on Monday LOL adrenaline crash and CNS fatigue from the comp LOL. Little bro still CJ 100 the 2nd time around and tripled 70 for his Snatch though. He said it felt heavy as well. But this is to be expected.
It was drizzling when I was at Mytholmroid :P. Takes me hrs to get there!

Haven’t done PS in forever. I guess my old PR was somewhere around 85, so the 95 is a big PR, but that was to be expected. I was definitely good for the 97.5; if my bar path wasn’t being so crappy lately I would’ve taken more shots at it. Maybe next time.

Felt good snatching, i think im finally learning how to get a good pull. tomorrow ill be looking for a new pr on clean and jerk.
Thumbs got a load of skin missing so had to use straps, so low clean and jerk volume! So far I’ve added 42kg to my total in 2011, good year so far, just need to nail the 135 jerk and its 47 kgs
The 97.5 is a PR, yes. I attempted 100 but was too tired after several missed attempts. Soon though. I’ve been training at a Crossfit gym owned by a Maryland alumni. A couple of friends and I lift there in exchange for cleaning up (vacuuming, mopping) the gym after lifting. He is a really nice guy and it has been a great deal for us.

do people remember that vid that was posted about the chinese chick who had a pretty wide grip for her cleans? there was some discussion about whether this was a revolutionary new technique that the chinese had discovered or something like that…
i’m wondering more about it because it has since come up again in conversation. some national level lifters of a different country experimenting with adopting the technique…
at the time… i had a hypothesis that it was because that chick had longer femurs compared to most other chinese lifters. that because of her longer femurs she was externally rotating her legs (frog leg) more than most in order to get her hips in close to the bar and keep her knees out the way. because of that… she needed to adopt a wider grip on the bar because her grip needed to be wider than her knees.
um… does this analysis sound plausible to people? or could there be another reason for her adopting a wider grip?
qtrtguy?
koing?
(other people too, of course)?
um… i simply don’t understand the explanation about maybe she could pull it higher with a wider grip…
some have suggested that it means she doesn’t have to shift her grip out for the jerk… i’m not sure about that one either…
sorry i will hunt out the vid later.

You dont need to have your arms outside of your legs in the frog style (see 3:55):
i don’t quite understand the way he lifts… why on earth does he do that for??
i thought the point of frogging was to get the knees out the way to get the hips in close to the bar… but he doesn’t externally rotate his femur as much as i’d think he would. and because his hands are in the way he can’t pull his hips in closer to the bar - which was kinda what i figured the whole point of frog legging was…
how does a wider grip help her get more height on the bar?? is it because you can use hip drive more effectively with a snatch grip, or something?
you do deadlift less weight with a snatch grip because it’s a longer range of motion and more difficult to hold onto the bar, but the 1st pull isn’t the limiting factor on the clean so it doesn’t really matter. she probably uses the wider grip to put the bar in a better position for the 2nd pull, on her hips rather than on her thighs. same concept as what say donny shankle does, except instead of using arm bend she’s using a wide grip. the wide grip automatically puts the bar higher.
