Just wanted confirmation, specifically im doing 5x5 and in my 9th week hitting PR’s and i get Really soar somedays. My medium day is coming tomorrow and my lower back hams, glutes is still very soar. I don’t want to be overtraining so just wanted to make sure.
When i workout sore i usually dont feel the soreness. Its probably from the blood-rush from the pump. Try to stretch after a workout, that usually helps some people who get a lot of DOMS.
only problem i have while training sore if making myself do it, usually just do a lil cardio and stretching and some nice high rep warmupsets usually make me feel ready/not sore anymore.

The whole “stretch after a workout to not get sore” idea has been disproved.
I have a issue related to this topic, but really doesn’t need a whole thread. lol
The one bodypart that seems to stay sore for DAYS (2-3) is my upper back and traps. Even after a complete day of rest after, the area hurts just to flex. I’m doing the HFS program, so I’m benching and squatting 4x a week, but obviously these movements require a solid foundation (aka upper back) to be done correctly, so the soreness effs me up a little. It’s not something I’ve gotten use to either, as this has been the case for about a month now.
Any suggestions on how to speed up recovery from the DOMS?? Not expecting NO DOMS, just reduce the severity.
I rarely get sore, but my recovery is also pretty good. You can absolutely train a muscle when sore…A lot of times the soreness will subside after a few sets.

If you are sore to the point where it hurts to move or hurts to touch, then you shouldn’t workout. Also, if you feel any sharp discomfort when lifting, don’t push further.
Working out while sore shouldn’t be a problem.
Good to know about the stretching. Now I won’t feel as bad when I don’t stretch.

Figure it out for yourself. If you continue hitting PRs while sore, obviously your body is recovered enough that you’re fine. If you stop hitting PRs consistently, consider giving that body part an extra day or two before working it again.

Once you tell the lil fuckers what the secret is, they just start complaining about genetics or some other shit as to why the secret didnt work. Such a terrible cycle
