I dont know if anybody noticed… Stan Mcquay is back?
Yeah, Stan won a show earlier this year that qualified him for the 202 Showdown. Little Dave Henry is going to be TOUGH to beat… Like, really, really tough.

I am NOT a Jay Cutler fan…but after watching the streaming webcast and pouring over the pre-judging pics at flex.com, I must give kudos to him.
Jay will win the 2009 Mr. Olympia.
This is the most streamlined I’ve seen him, the most conditioned I’ve seen him, all with that awesome amount of pure beef hanging on him.

I think you are calling this a tad early. Cutler looks better than usual, but some of you gushing over him like this make me wonder if we are looking at the same pics.
on comparison shots on flex online id say dex definatly trumps jay
WOW. Freeman has been busy. I will have to check out more pics for him. Looks slightly less aesthetic than usual in that particular pic posted but jesus, the mass gained is crazy. Just missed it by the looks of it. A real pity. One of the best structures of all time. Going by whats there, id have Dex for a repeat. Tight as hell after that. Cant wait to see what happens!!
Kai Greene’s back shots are amazing. He beats everyone in that department, he doesn’t look as good as he did in the Aus PRO though.

Ah, but part of the entertainment value in watching these contests is the prognostication process! : )
Yes, it is definitely too early to tell, but I’m basing my subjective analysis on the webcast and on comparison photos…not the individual ones. The commentator said something on the webcast that made alot of sense: when looking at each competitor individually and by themself, they all look awesome. It’s when you put them together that the weaknesses (for that year) begin to reveal themselves.
Also, oftentimes (but not all the time I concede), the progression of the callouts, the number of callouts, and who gets called out with whom (and what group) will give away the thinking of the judges. I noted that Jay got called out ONLY with the top 6 (as determined by the very 1st callout and when the judges called BACK the top 6) and that Dexter got called back not only with the top 6 but also in a 3 man comparison between Phil, and Kai. Then the final callout was just Dexter and Jay.
What that tells me is that they have DExter in 2nd place, and they wanted to make sure by comparing him again with the competitors who will get 3rd and 4th (Phil or Kai).
Again, I think it all depends on who can hold their condition for now, roughly over 12 hours!
GREAT Olympia. These guys are really IN SHAPE. As of this morning, I am impressed with almost all of them and feel a little bad for some that didn’t hit their mark (as determined again by the comparisons shown on the webcast…it’s funny, the webcast made the competitors look different than the pictures themselves. To be frank, the pictures seem to augment their look; the video was more telling. My opinion).

I am not sure Cutler is doing better than this…but then I am not at the show.[/quote]
When they are compared in a group, Cutler looks a mile wider than Phil. When flexed and posing, Phil’s shape is a beautiful thing to behold…but Cutler’s pure size and condition (yes, Cutler is more cut than Phil this time around) just overwhelms him in my humble opinion.
Again, I don’t know why, but the pics don’t really tell the story versus the webcast. It is weird. Even in comparison pics, Kai is actually plain HUGE in the webcast, but the pictures (to me) make him look alot less impressive than the video.

This is what makes this competition so fun, and reveals that there are so many differing opinions on bodybuilding features that everyone ranks differently from one another! : )
Dex looks great. But in my opinion, no way he trumps Jay. Jay is practically just as conditioned, and carries just too much mass.
Note that I wrote the above cringing…I really don’t like the Jay Cutler general physique, but I’m trying to see how the judges seem to be seeing this contest.
Personally, if I were to pick who I really think should win based upon overall package, it would be Dex. I just don’t think the judges appear to see it that way based on yesterday.
