Military Press

Seated Dumbell Press
8x40
6x70
4x100

HS 1-Arm Preacher Curl
10x25

V-Bar Pushdowns
40x120

Decline Situps

15xBW+35 *Weight on chest

Went straight for the 205 set… really thought I had it. The weight didn’t feel heavy unracking it and I stayed pretty damn strict I think, but just couldn’t get the bar moving. That rep felt like an eternity though, heh. Oh well.[/quote]

That’s too bad about the MP. It really looked like you’d gotten it past the point where you could lock it out. Nice fight.

i feel that i get a lot of carry over now that i’ve switched to military press from push presses. i feel like i have more power off the chest when i bench.

shoulders feel healthier as well. i think the best thing i did was to throw in the reverse grip bench though. my shoulders are balanced now since reverse grip emphasizes the medial and posterior heads more.

Do the millies translate better to flat bench because they don’t recruit any leg drive or momentum like the push presses?

Hmm. Maybe I should try reverse grip pressing the bar. Might be good for me.

Just cuz I get one comment from a woman doesn’t mean it was suppose to be directed toward you, lol.

My eyesight may never have been very good but you look significantly bigger (and older) than Jowee. Unless he’s your alter ego or imaginary friend.

I enjoyed watching him fight to lock out his MP. Your’s at 315 didn’t seem like quite as much of a battle. It was as impressive as crap but his was a fight

just check’n:) you’ve commented a few times and said “you” not joweee. yeah… we are slightly different. i have him by ten years and he has me by about 5 inches in height. i think we are pretty equally ugly though. ugliness and strength go hand in hand…at least for guys.

I think Jowee is your imaginary friend.

MM, what is your expert opinion on the instruction(s) being given in this video?

10-3-10 Deadlifts - Week 3, Wave 2

Conventional Deadlifts
8x135
4x225
1x315
5x420
3x475
1x530
*Mini bands
1x545 +20 LB PR *I’ve done 535 a while back, but it was hitched.

GHR Hyperextensions
3xBWx10

Machine Abs
2 sets

Leg Raises
2 sets

Woo got that 545. Real happy about that. Everything felt really heavy and slow today starting out. That 420 set was hard for whatever reason. I think I just wasn’t awake yet, lol. Next session I think I will just hit 500 for a single or two, then a rest week… then I should be restin and rarin to lift at the competition.

Edit: I did yank on the bar before pulling though, which I don’t like or normally do. I think I got too excited and it just happened. Did the same thing last week… gotta make sure I don’t make a habit out of that.

cycle 2, week 3.

deads against bands

warmup
135x6
225x6
315x4

working sets

(75%) 420x5
(85%)475X3
(95%)530X1

565X1 - 20LB PR against bands

hypers against bands

some x some x 3

abzzz machine

some x some x 3

next week is our deload but we will come in and work to an opener and that will be pretty much the end of heavy lifting until the meet.

considering i do basically everything opposite of what Ripptoe recommends should be your answer:) although… i do look down. i’ll give him that one.

Don’t make me come over there…

P.S. awesome vid.

Wow. That Rippetoe vid is opposite of what I do. I definitely focus on keeping my chest up and driving up with it; not my ass. I think I would tip over forward if I did what he said. Interesting the different approaches to the lifts.

And, yes, Jowie. I see you jerking with your biceps. I’m sure you know all the dangers there.

Otherwise, nice work guys.

MM, I think your imaginary friend Joweee is catching up with you on deads. You both looked really strong and now I want to try an get a set up similar to what you have there.

We weren’t nearly as hard core tonight. We fucked around with bar roll outs and bands. If you ever feel the overwhelming need to lose some teeth, this is a great way to do it. If you use the thick bands you may be peeled of a wall. Still, it’s a lot of fun
