New PR's

Not a PR of mine but my wife is down from 142 to 133 after two months. Also today she hit 105lbs for 12 reps on Back Squat she swears she could have got 20 so were gonna find out next week. Then she worked in with me with Reverse Band Deadlift (light purple bands) pulled 275 no problem and 300 with a very small hitch.

Congrats for your wife Reed.

I use a calculator on an app on my iphone. I think I heard somewhere that it depends on how many fast or slow twitch fibers your body is made up of. For example those with higher fast twitch fiber amounts will do better lifting higher reps, slow twitch do better for lower reps. So if a person who is primarily fast twitch lifts 195x12 the 1RM will say 280. However, they may struglle putting up 250x3 cause it requires more slow twitch recruitment which they lack. This could be completely innacurrate though and I’m gonna do some research on the topic. I just heard it from a guy that I lift with

Hey man thanks alot. I think you may have your fibers mixed up… don’t fast twitch fibers responsible for short and intense contractions? But either way I believe your right. I have no proof but believe I am Slow Twitch dominant I have never been very fast sprinter or highly powerful Guy but could still be pretty strong. For example my one Rep Max Squat is barely 385lbs right now but I can knock out sets of 10-12 with 315lbs pretty easily… but could just be I don’t Back Squat enough and my form probably goes to complete shit once I get up there.

You are correct I did have them mixed up. Thanks for correcting me on that though, I don’t want to spread false information (or believe it myself haha). I haven’t yet figured out which fiber type I mostly possess.

335 for two sumo. Wasn’t easy but didn’t hitch.

It’s really not something you should be worried about. It varies very little from person, and it actually doesn’t have as much affect as you would think anyway.

205X5 yates row,
35X14 weighted ultra wide grip pull up
160X10 kirk row

It depends, some calculators are a bit off to. 90% for 3, 85 % for 5, and I am not sure for 8 reps… But those are the closes percents that work for me on bench, deadlifts and squats seem to for me have a slightly different ratio, more reps at those percents for squats, possibly less for deadlifts.

215x5 on high bar squats, with a few in the tank… 225x5, I’m coming for you next week.

Been actually lifting with focus for about a year or so now. Been on the Texas Method for about a month and a half and my gains have been great. These PR’s are all from last week

All 5RM

Bench 160x5 to 185x5
Squat 225x5 to 275x5
DL 225x5 to 305x5

And the best part im not done yet

When I first started lifting a month or so ago, I barely pulled a 135x1 DL and it screwed my back up. Monday night I pulled 175 (while drunk, admittedly not the smartest time to try a PR) no problems, might have been able to get 180. Pretty nice way to start off the new year I would say.

lol that’s fucking awesome[/quote]Thanks man, I appreciate it. Im going to start a log tonight after I take some pictures and measurements.

205X12 high bar, close stance pause squat
weighted natural glute hamraises, plates on chest 20X10
front squat hold with walkout 315X40

Some more :). I will certainly be getting a 225X12 soon enough for the high bar squats, might even get 245X8-12 before the accumulation cycle for me gets over.

Havent had any 1rm prs in a while but with lighter weights i feel like ive been performing faster, cleaner and easier reps.

After christmas i had gotten sick so i was fkd up for a little bit.

good call man that’s a great way to start. hopefully you are getting on SS or another proven program too. Glad to have ya

Close grip floor press 170X5
#1 close grip floor racklockout 155X6
bent over row 185X10
weighted wide neutral grip pull up 25X15

I second that you should go do SS, or any other proven linear progression program. Then after about 8-12 weeks, or you have stalled a few times then switch to something like 5/3/1.

I began SS about a month ago, and I started a basic log. Here is the link. http://tnation.T-Nation.com/free_online_forum/blog_sports_body_training_performance_bodybuilding_log/slotegealldays_beginner_training_log

Updating with pictures in a few minutes

Squated 315x10. OUT OF NOWHERE. By far my best squat ever.

Finally got my back squat upto 100kg/220lbs. Am bit of a fatty at 107kg/229lb bodyweight

Back Squat 315 for 12 for me.
My wife killed 115 for 12 deep reps she is gonna be repping bodyweight with in the month.
