New PR's Part 2

Kind of a random PR, but I tried something new:

drop set: back squat 225x20, 135x I don’t know how many but 10ish. I originally intended to go for 30 at 225, and maybe I could have gotten there, but the bar was slipping on my back on the last few reps, and I didn’t really know how to fix the problem. This was killer regardless, my conditioning is terrible right now.[/quote]
You can try chalking the bar/your back if sweat is causing the bar to slip.

185 for 10 strict and 1 Push Press

ok I can’t help it old habits die hard and I feel stupid weird not posting this here… So Big Red Machine if it still bothers you I post this here… Get over it

Deadlift from the floor 2 sets of 5 with 500lbs.

Nice deadlift, but I keep hereing your name all over T Nation, and I really thought you’d be bigger  Anyway I got 405x8, in full depth squat on Tues. Thats a new PR, this time around, so I’ll take it, because I worked dam hard for it. ‘‘They’’ said it was easier to gain strength the second time around, who the hell are "they’’ and what can they squat, lol I’ll try and get some vids for future PR’s. Peace out

X2 on what DSSG said about chalking your back. Also, what kind of shirt are you wearing? If you’re wearing a sleeveless shirt with a low back it won’t do you any favours. A t-shirt is ideal here.

Hahaha sorry for letting you down anytime. I have never trained for size really this my first ever time really dedicating any time volume and trying to put size on. But at 5’7" 210-215 I’m not the smallest just not a body builder either. I’m just kinda good at picking up heavy stuff.

The shirt was definitely a problem. It was an under armor t-shirt, so really slippery. I usually wear a regular t shirt, just wasn’t really thinking. I should have also chalked. I just didn’t anticipate the slippage the way I should have. I generally just chalk for heavy lifts.

its ok Flip live and learn man we all mistakes. I did the same thing once (didn’t anticipate the slippage) on this big girl I took home one time. Def had to chalk up for her.

Deadlifted 315lbx5 today.

I did it last week, but the last two reps were so spaced out that they might as well have been singles (10+ seconds in between). The reps were much quicker today, though the last rep was painful.

Now onto 405x5. I hope to get that within 6-8 months, but more realistic would be a year.

Deadlift: 180kg x 9, very happy about this because I’ve found that I’ve gotten so much better at keeping form on deadlifts, even when I’m working at high %s or fatigued from high reps.

Chins: BW x 13 @183lbs

Ab rollout (from toes): BW x 8

Seated calf raise: 4 plates x 10, then the most miserable dropset of calf raises ever: 5 plates x 5, 4 plates x 5, 3 plates x 6, 2 plates x 8, 1 plate x 10.

Press 55kg x 8 for a 2 rep PR, then 60kg x 3 for a 1 rep PR

Those ab rollouts left my abs in a pretty miserable state, but I hit some decent numbers today all the same.

Paused bench: 90kg x 8 (or maybe 9? Not sure, so we’ll say 8)
Weighted chins: 3x9x5kg and 7x10kg

Went for 410 lb on the squat. Felt pretty good so I went for 415. Little bit of a grinder but I got it. 10 lb pr.

And now a 260 lb snatch grip deadlift. 5lb PR. PRs every time I do these right now.

But the real PR in my mind was that I managed to get in 3 cluster sets after the ramp. I’m mentally (and physically) building up the work capacity. All in all, that’s still only 40% or so of the total workout with these, but I’m getting there.

I love the “things are blacking out and I can barely walk” feeling from the cluster sets. Reminds me of my 20 rep squats.

A single cluster set is… do a rep, wait 10 seconds, do another rep… repeat until you can’t do any more reps. Done with 90% of your max. They can get kind of rough since you get just enough recovery to work at 90%, but not enough to feel good doing it.

New PBR’s today on two exercises. Took my 185 dead to 205 x8, and my squat to 185 x 15.

To those chiming in on criticism, read. When I got a pm before I EVER posted on this site and am called a rapist because I was a correctional officer, one, I posted legit thought and kept the rest to myself. They are thoughts on weight lifted to percentage of body weight, and we’re one was egging some on I didnt whine it sounded negative. Interesting some people did not have ALL the information. I see worst posts to that one.

With all the fuss from a long week ago I forgot to post a personal best off duty achievement, I stopped a child amber alert in my city and a second one with some buddies three days ago. There are important things in life to get jacked over and the real test is one’s response despite having all the knowledge one thinks is adequate, and making those decisions quickly without emotion.

Squatted 132.5kg x 8 without a belt yesterday

Bench 87.5 x 9 - 2.5kg PR, did some Jokers, then added a jerry rigged slingshot (couple of short bands) and got 100kg for a triple with more to spare.

Congratulations.

Not to discredit that, but this thread is for training PRs.

Pretty sure I set reading comprehension PRs every time I read one of his posts

I managed a PR yesterday and squatted 130kgs/286lbs for 1 which works out to be just over twice my bodyweight
