New Dead Lift PR - 305lbs

Finally decided it was time to load my entire stack on and give it a go! 305 doesn’t seem like much @ a BW of 165, but I’m only 9 months back into the iron game after a 12 year layoff - but come to think of it, I wasn’t really that strong/built back then anyway… The lift felt strong and I’m pretty confident I have 25-30 more lbs in me still. Anyway, here it is…

That looked extra easy, congrats…

Thanks matso. I guess I finally have a reason to buy that next 305lb set!

I bet money your max is at least another 50lbs away judging by that bar speed.

looks like you use a lot more back than leg. it’s interesting how many different ways there are to deadlift.

I hope you’re right. At any rate, I’ll find out this Saturday as I’ll be lifting with Coach Staley and Phil Stevens. Hit a personal best of 320lbs on the squat with them last weekend.

I’ll let you all know and try and get vid this time. Thanks.

I noticed that too… Interesting, as it isn’t usually the case. It’s probably cuz my legs are still aching from pulling a Chevy Avalanche this past Saturday @ Coach Staley’s Bed and Barbell! Kicked my ass!

Congrats that looked easy.

Coincidentally I’ll be attempting to dead 300 tomorrow.

Great pull, I bet you could hit 315 if you wanted to.

you got more in you for sure! push yourself and go for it…keep at it!

definitely take the camera with you on your next deadlift day. I’d be amazed if you can’t make 320 with more hip drive.

If you’ll blast some Slipknot instead of 311, you could probably get 400

stop lifting in sandals…

Congrats dude, Im hoping for 385 in the next few weeks.
Keep up the awesome work

Try and not raise your hips first, you’re basically RDL the weight up. You want everything to lockout at once.

It was P.O.D actually - but you may be right at any rate!

good job, any short term/long term goals?

Thanks. Ya, I want to compete in a PL meet this October. Trying to get my DL and Squat to 2.5 x BW and bench to 1.75 x BW. I think I can make it there - we’ll see… I don’t have any hopes of placing - but having never done it before - it will be great just to be there and do my best , you know? Plus it give me motivation to train harder!

It looks like you almost stiff leg the weight up. when the bar breaks the ground it immediatly comes away form your body - not good, if you can avoid it.

Also why lift in the sandals. might as well lift barefoot and get the extra half an inch.
