I’m really trying to get ATG - how do I know I’m going low enough?
Today’s training:
Ft squat - 5x 65, 85, 105, 2x130, 5x130 < that 2x130 was a fluke - lost concentration.
back squat - 5x 95, 115, 135, 3x145, 1x145(2 Fail)
step ups - 15x45, 2x15x60
goblet squats - 15x45,2x15x55
romanian sit ups - 4x10 (each side) x 10 - the left shoulder held up pretty well in the overhead position
pull throughs - 4x12x a bunch of stacks
This was the last day of this cycle, gonna switch up the training next week.
Tomorrow i’m doing some broomstick drills, or bar if the shoulder is ok. Also get in some rehab and pullups if i can. Sunday is soccer. Yay!
Oh and the argentinian national team is here in NYC! They’re playing the US team on Sat. I went to the last US v. Argentina game - it was actually quire a snooze fest. But i got to see the entire squad in action - Messi, Gago, THE Mascherano. It was fun!

hard lumbar arch, hip flexors engaged, the bottom of a squat is basically when your muscles are stretched out all the way and simply can’t stretch out anymore. the bottom can get lower for a particular lifter over time as the muscles lengthen. you can learn to ‘ride the bounce’ by descending more quickly and using the stretch reflex to help bounce you out the hole. once you have done that a couple times you should get the feel for where your bottom position is. i have trouble finding my bottom position sometimes - that usually means that i’ve lost the tension in my hip flexors / lumbar region.
i wanted to scream 'knees out! knees out! knees out! pull your hips through! when you got to your sticking point. not because your knees were wobbling or caving at all and you were clearly trying to get your hips through - but just because that seems to help me similarly to how gripping something really tightly with my hands helps me leg press more weight lol.
i don’t usually look at girls posterior chains, but damn you do got a good one!

When I’m trying to go ATG I just go down as low as I can. Sometimes I chicken out because I don’t want to get stuck. Doing heavy negatives helped me I think.

Masch you are way too hard on yourself, that first squat was deep as hell! I did the same thing a few weeks ago thank god I had someone spotting me. I dont think anyone can look as good as you missing out an attempt

That first squat was amazing, and the second one was awesome! Way to fail in style, chica! Maybe set the pins a hole higher so that when you do want/have to bail, you can just bottom out and the bar will get picked up, rather than having to crawl around and dump it.

Or widening your stance. I recently widened my stance and it helps for going deep… heh heh “go deep”
