Never Walk Alone

weighted sit ups -

DEF will add mass to the midsection.

So will pizza and beer, unfortunately.

sigh

Hi Maschy!

Smoke that team this weekend! I’ll look forward to hearing about the carnage and havoc you wreak upon them.

Definitely warm up that hammie carefully and well. No more injuries!!!

Good luck at your game.
Please do warm up thoroughly, no rush. If the game started and you’re not warmed up enough yet, just tell the coach to chillax while you finish warming up =D

Hell yeah on the carb-load! Woot!
I know my cheat meal of garlic knots, pizza and zeppolis will have me kicking soccer chicks’ asses.

Hello beautiful people!

I’m just popping in right quick to say that I was just on Elite and was pleasantly surprised to see an article by Molly! (well, i put two and two together - Molly, Skye - lol! Sneaky! then confirmed through Jim)

!!! thank you for linking that Molly article! she’s the bomb!!–The Bear is as well :)!

oh, AWESOME!!!

I miss Molly…

Thanks for sharing!!

How did your game go??

Maschy I was thinking about you when I was watching the RedBulls season opener the other night. Hope that you are killing it on the soccer field!

Thanks for posting the link. Made me feel good to read that article because actually do most of that stuff.

Cheers sweetie, keep us up-to-date on the shoulder rehab if you can.

Hows the season coming along Masch? Did you guys beat the hardest team in the league?

Do you do a lot of running? I went to an AC Milan game one time and those dudes ran AT LEAST 2 miles before the game even started lol. They were just running lap after lap after lap like it was nothing.

Aww! Hi Greg, you’re so cute. I love when you come in here…i’ll answer you in two shakes sexy! But first…

Just to clarify for my little trolla loca Bree (and anyone else who cares), the abs that you saw in that particular pic were a consequence of leaning out from soccer and a full body lifting program (squats and other unilateral work), but NOT from doing any direct ab work, and especially NOT weighted ab work.

Once I started adding in the weighted ab stuff a la Jim Wendler 5/3/1 accessory work (which I wanted and needed in order to get my squat and DL #s up) my waist and abs got thicker. So now, even when my abs are showing, my waist doesn’t look like that (no hip crease in other words). Pic attached is my old avi from November 2010 - for comparison.

Maybe like Edgy says, I have pizza and beer syndrome, so perhaps I can lean out some and we can see if I can replicate my old abs look…but my feeling is that my body has changed irreversibly. Well, i mean, I can always STOP training all together and not eat, but that would suck massive hairy, donkey cock and ballz! So my compromise is no more weighted abs.

Wow. That was a lot of words on abzzzzz…zzzz…ha!

Anyways, thank you all for checking in on me and for all the good luck wishes in my soccer game!

And you are most welcome Brute and Veg for the link to the article - i love supporting other people’s accomplishments and Molly rocks!

Alexus - haha! Its true, i was bitching about being hyooge! I’m so fickle. I’m glad to report that I’m getting in some upper body work though, so i’m feeling a bit better.

Nadia, I still didn’t get to do the concurrent training. I ran out of time on Friday - hopefully this week! I’ll let you know how it goes.

And Nadia and Greg, I won’t be modest when I say that I do indeed believe that I am incredibly well conditioned. I can last 90 mins with no problem, which I chalk up to really good recovery in between sprints. I can sprint 50 yrds and recover at a light jog in about 20 seconds. But i’ve been playing soccer since I was 5…so it ain’t all that special! But whatever toot toot!

Git, i’ll def try to get some footie vids!

Hi Ginger!

Kimba, i warmed up well, thank you! Not a single ache from the hammie! YAY!!

Cocoa Espresso - the carb load wasn’t as successful as normal. lol! i coulda/shoulda gotten in a lot more grub, but oh well!

MiM and Greg, thanks for asking about the game. Well…

We lost (sad face) but we didn’t have our regular goalie and the ref made 2 questionable calls in the box that resulted in 2 PKs. I mean really, 2?! But on a happy note, I played well!

As some of you know, I’m a midfielder. I play mostly on the wings (left or right), but I also get moved around quite a bit depending on what the game is doing. This sucks for me since I like playing wing half - but its actually a testament to my speed and conditioning, so it is what it is. In the last game I got moved in the 2nd half twice - once to center mid and then to stopper. We play 4-4-2 and basically me moving into central defense is the coach saying “everyone is going to playing offensively, so we’re going to need you to run back on the defense if we loose the ball”

Anyways, shoulder is coming along. I’m starting to do a little more aggressive rehab work - snatch DLs, pullups, presses, lat pulls.

I also started doing some Oly drills with a light bar and on my lower day this week I’ll try out some drills with a little more weight. I’m hoping to get back into Oly by first week of April…

Fingers crossed y’alls! And thanks for checking in

Regarding the training abs comment: I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t directly train my abs. Or very rarely. I suppose there’s the argument that it will make me stronger. But I use the converse argument that my abs get trained every time I squat, DL, and bench. Hmm.

Glad to see you checking in, Maschy. Hope the heeling happens in a hurry.

I will ravage you Greg.

Hey Snap! Thanks! And I completely agree re: indirectly training abs with squat, Dl, etc. At least for me, weightlifting is enough to keep my core feeling strong (particularly since I believe a strong back => strong abs). But like you said, i’m sure adding direct ab training certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Sigh…Listen youse two, I said not eating and training would suck big balls in a bad way!

And anyways, its me against the pork industry and I’m on a mission! I won’t let you down guys.

Bacon, Work it!

You live in the finest city of carbs, and your carb load wasn’t successful?

Glad to hear that you were on your A-game, despite the loss. It doesn’t matter, take pride that 1) your hammie held up and 2) YOU did a good job. You got slackers on your team, ones that don’t show up heh heh

It’s always a great day when you check in; keep up the killer balancing-act training with soccer and oly and weights and pilates and conditioning and everything else you do <3

You said that you could stop eating and training all together. I know exactly how you meant it, but it’s fun picking on you, AND you like the attention. Don’t deny it.

Haha, those little pigs don’t stand a chance!

BWI!

Imma be reincarnated into bacon for my next life.
