Never Walk Alone

Drop it like it’s hot GURL!

Oly lifters MUST LWI!

Carry on, Senorita.

I hope you don’t think i am trying to be an internet know it all but one thing i have used for many years to help with arms is to turn the knuckles down toward the floor before the pull. It really seems to help keep the arms in a position that makes it hard to use them during pull (keeps them straight)
Looking forward to following your progress.

Maschy, your training is powerful, don’t feel silly for posting your training ;(
It’s exciting, for me at least, to see you improving with the lifts.

I have a log whose title is supposed to be going up with max PRs and it’s been the same number for quite a while. But I’m still here 0:)

<3

I’m with everyone else Maschy. Keep posting away… Even if you don’t think it’s anything special there’s probably someone out there drawing inspiration or ideas from your training…(or theres just me who is your interwebz not-so secret admirer

Oh and… LWI! (now that i know the real meaning)

I feel like a jerk because my lifts are anything but ‘powerful’ and I feel like logging them right now is pretty silly - So I’m just logging if there’s something even remotely interesting to report, which as of today is nothing.

aw :frowning:

I think I get what you mean, though. I held off starting a log here for quite some time because I thought my training was very unimpressive compared to what other people were doing… Lots of tiny step forward, large step back sorts of movements…

So maybe I’m being a bit selfish in wanting to hear how things are going - even if it is a step back. Just so I don’t feel so alone in that. I guess it helps me to see that yeah, this is just the way it is, rather than me thinking that the issue is that I particularly suck.

Glad to hear that your cleans are feeling better

Oh… I just realized I wasn’t sure if you meant your oly lifting or your strength stuff… I’ve been having trouble with my strength stuff lately, too. Haven’t got stronger for a while :frowning: I guess it is because I’ve been focusing on the oly stuff… But yeah, demoralized a bit that my strength isn’t better. Guess it is similar to how Nikki struggles a bit with strength since she is focused on cutting? Not sure… Don’t suppose it is possible to get better at everything all at once. Most unfair :-p

Masch- I love how you give your training blow-by-blow, the vids, everything. Keep up the good work honey. Smile;)

Hey Deb! actually it depends - when I’m at the Oly gym I pretty much just train Snatches and C&Js which takes about an 1.5 hrs - that’s pretty normal for me. But when I’m just doing technique work at my gym, which I do on my lower body day, that does take a good 2hrs…so yeah. And I wish you could train with me too!! That would be hot. I mean, fun. And I do recommend running the lifts piece by piece like I do on lower day. I find that’s really helped me “get the feel” of the lifts.

And the only problem I have with my shrugs is keeping my arms loose and straight, i.e. not muscling up the bar. Not sure what you mean about what you’re doing? I saw your C&J in the Oly thread, looked good! Have you video’d your snatch? (hee hee!)[/quote]
I’ve started doing the piece by piece work too. I was doing good until my trainer threw on a bunch more weight and I was worthless lol.

I have some really terrible snatch videos :\ I posted one of them in one of the oly threads and I was thinking about posting another but I know what you mean not feeling powerful. I only see my trainer once a week or longer so I’ve been using the videos and T-Nation to keep myself working on my weaknesses and forcing myself to be more accountable to good form. But I still don’t like posting the snatch ones because they suck!

I hope you keep posting all your details because I’m enjoying reading along and getting a lot out of it. But I know I’m not one to talk since I don’t have a log =o (However I’ve been attempting to post in the oly log.)

pssst whispers we all love us some Mascherano so plz don’t hold back on the logging.
Kthxby.

Yeah gurl! Its been dropped. MiM, i saw your vids. Just killed me. I’m so happy for you! <3!

Ink - Oh yeah, they so have to lock it out! Its the only way. lol! I should say LWI to my coach. This could catch like wild fire!

Germanone - No please, you know more than I do - feel free to opine! I totally get what you’re saying and I do normally try to point my wrists outs. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks Nik! I appreciate the encouragement  And honestly I go to your log not only for the PRs, but also for the cocoa espresso. lol!

sigh. gregron…i’m sorry if i can’t stop swooning over you. Its just that you remind me of one of my ex’s, Nick. OMG, he was so juicy and delicious, and WAY out of my leaugue. Real sweet too! Sigh. Turned out he had a girlfriend! Oh dear.

Hey Alexus! Ok, cool! I also go to your log to see how things are faring too, draw inspiration. Its good to sort of work together, no? Anyways, thanks! I appreciate the support  What program are you doing? I saw one recently called Shcweitzman, swartman, something like that. It was for beginners and it was pretty cool. The first few weeks are all working from a dead hang, and accessory lifts including front squatz. Sets, reps were like 4x5. I think it sounds pretty solid! If you’re interested i’ll get the book from my coach.

Thanks Veggie!

Deb, I saw the snatch vids! (btw, i’m so nervous to post in the Oly thread! with this jerky avi no less. facepalm) I thought they looked great! You move weight! I love hearing the feedback on your lifts too because it also helps me learn

Aww! Thanks Mainie

HAH! Me encanta! Ya se, ya se. Y te lo juro, estoy tratando de ser mejor con mi misas. Voy acordar ‘sana y sabrosa’ - es perfecto! Gracias nena

On to training!!!

Not much to tell actually…Oly is moving along. I have a major problem though and this is that I keep hitting my knees on the first pull! Its really terrible. I have bruises under my kneecaps! I don’t know what’s wrong with my brain, as I can’t seem to understand, or even conceptualize (!) what I’m supposed to do to rectify this. And my poor coach is pulling his hair out trying to explain it to me:

“bend over, ass higher, now squaaaaat…ok, now go in the reverse direction…NO!” mascherano sad face

I might go ask Glenn Pendlay what he thinks. Maybe I just need someone else to explain it to me, or something?

Anyways, aside from that everything is going fine and today I got to play with 35kg. It was fun! I didn’t catch a single snatch, but it was cool see if I could do it. I pulled a couple from the floor but it didn’t make it past my belly button, so I then just did from a dead hang. I got under them, but I couldn’t land them. Ah well.

And that’s pretty much it really. I was supposed to do an upper workout yesterday and i got into the gym but wasn’t able to finish it. i had one of those all day headaches, so i cut it short. I’ll finish it tomorrow when i do my legs.

Of note on that was that I DB pressed 3x50. Finally got past 45s! 65lbs seems so very, very far away. lol!

Alrighty y’alls. Thanks for popping by. Have a great weekend!

Oh! One more thing - i’m so slooooooow on the snathes. UGH!

k. bye y’alls!

Its good to sort of work together, no?

Indeed, it is

I’m going to finalize my program today (been putting it off for a while now). Posted an attempt over on the Oly Forum a while back and just need to alter it a bit in light of feedback and some realizations I’ve made with respect to more / less intense days. Need to alter standard programs a fair bit since my squat numbers are limiting at the moment - which isn’t at all typical.

Love your avatar!!

Great work with 35kg! 30kg wasn’t playing so happily with me yesterday :-/

I dunno what to say about the knee issue that might help, but it is definitely an issue that I’ve experienced. I’ve recently started setting up with the bar further in front of me (I used to think it was about dragging the bar up your shins in a Ripptoe-style deadlift fashion) and extending from the knee (so my knee comes back out the way) for the first part of the movement. But… Some people are saying stuff about knees and hips extending at the same rate from the floor, so I’m not sure on this… Still figuring things.

although your new avi is sexiness all over, my eyes are drawn to your lips all the time.

those were meant to be bitten.

And I agree with getting a little help somewhere else on the lifts you are really stuck. Having someone explain the same thing in a different way can make all the difference.

I agree with NIM about your lips AND getting someone else to explain it

There has been a few times that someone will explain how to do something to me that just makes so much sense. I have to ‘see’ it to be able to do it. Other times someone says something and I am like WUT!!!

lol, anyways awesome stuff lady!! Keep atter

You pressed 50s!! That is SO AWESOME! You are my hero, seriously. Good luck with snatch-catching. (I just had to say it).

It sounds like you are feeling righteous again. Yeah baby! I really enjoy reading your log. All of the oly lifting stories sound so athletic and challenging. I mean seriously, all I do is lift heavy things and look hot. Sorry to hear about your headache. Sucks. Do you get migraines? I had a horrible headache last night but it was from some kid spraying a ton of air freshener in the restroom at the office. Anyhow, love the new avi and nice work.

Great job on presses. For the pull, as the bar leaves the floor make sure hips and shoulders are rising at the same time. Also your weight should shift just a bit toward your heals and let your knees drift back (hope i explained that well). This gets your knees out of the way. I teach basic oly lifts to people who are not oly lifters and hitting the knees is very common and painful. Hope that helps.

Aww Maschy, no sad face!
You’ll get it soon, tell your coach to have some damn patience. Or I’ll tell him…

Congrats on pressing the 50s, I know that was a goal for you for a short while.
Now get on to the wide pull-ups, because with all those chins, I know you can get some.

Oh, and yeah, the new avvie is very hawt. Along with the lips, the HAIR! It’s so big… that’s what she said.

Kbye ;D

Thanks Masch! =)

I think you shouldn’t worry about posting in the oly forum. I’ll bet your log here gets more traffic with all your admirers  Nothing wrong with you avi either!
