Git, I believe in the laws of intention, so I write down all the things that I want, even those that seem outlandish. And even if they don’t come true, at least I know I put it out there, you know, turned an idea into something real and tangible. Plus, who am I kidding, I’m a bit OCD - its the Virgo in me.

Cal, its true, its ambitious. We’ll see. I’ve really just decided that i need to train to keep me focused. 2010 was a great year, but also fraught with a lot of distractions (the good and bad, but mostly the ‘too good’, lol!). I’m hoping the training will wear me out like you would a little hyper-active puppy.


Btw the snow shoveling gave me some serious back DOMs. HA! No good deed…

Also, I decided to take this week off from Oly lifting. First because I don’t want to travel to Queens with the snow, second because I want to spend some time at MY gym before the resolutioners take over, and lastly because I’m on vacation! And thus I can do whatever the fuck I want. tee hee.

I won’t lie though, and I think I’ve said it before, the Oly lifting takes a lot out of me - not so much physically, but mentally. Its quite sad to admit this lapse in mental fortitude, but sometimes I have to really motivate myself to train. So I’m basically considering this a bit of an Oly deload. I already miss it and will probably practice snatching later tonight at my gym, so I think by next week I’ll be back in Queens with vigor.

Training last night:
bunch of back squats - worked up to an ugly 5x155. I’m going to stay here until they feel right, will also film them for verification.

N grip pullups - 4x4, 6x3 < total number has gone up, shooting for 10x4

DB presses, goblet squats, pushups, facepulls. 20 mins on the stairmill.

Tonight I’m taking a spin class (i know, i know) and then doing pilates, both classes are taught by one of my favorite trainers. I’ve been taking his pilates for about 3 years now. I lurv him. After pilates we sometimes go for coffee - gym gossip is the best!

Learning new skills is exhausting–it’s good to take a break. Enjoy your vacation and the quiet of the gym before the onslaught of the resolvers.

Your squats are awesome and your kicking ass on the pullups too. Do you train chins and pullups on different days of the week or do you just alternate them?

All that shoveling will do a number on your back.

And Nadia’s right, learning new skills is always tough. Think of your brain creating new paths. When I learned to drive I was exhausted after 30 minutes. Now I drive for hours no problem. But I hear you on the deload. Hell I’ve lifted once a week these past 3 weeks. Bad Frenchie. But I feel the itch taking hold again. I’ll go tomorrow just for you :wink:

Nadia - Thanks! The pullups I alternate on different days. So basically I treat them as a main lift and I do pronated one day, neutral the next time, chinups the next, and on and on. I want 10 for each grip, so I train them all separately.

My lovely Frenchie! Lol! I know you and Nadia are right, so I’m ok with being patient with the Oly lifting.

Alexus, i’m struggling to catch everything, so don’t worry girl, i’m right behind ya. And like I said, its two steps forward one step back.

Also did:
BB squat jumps worked up to 15x85, back extension, swiss ball ham bridges (working on getting the hammies strong)

This is a stupid question but is it normal to have lower back DOMs when you pull conventional DLs? I never had back DOMs when I pulled Sumo style…not sure if it means I’m doing something wrong or not.

Also, last night when I was leaving the gym Tony the manager stopped me and told me how much he appreciated that I shoveled the snow the other day and said that since I really did him a solid that he would waive my membership fee for January. Lol! I thought that was really sweet of him.

And finally…

Today I went in to test the chinups. 10 in 2010 BABY!!

I added music for the cat in the background who starts rockin out. HAH! And of course no shirt for my homegirl Nikki :wink:

I kip a bit, and use momentum, but hey, that’s 10 bitches!

Next year I’ll get pronated and neutral :slight_smile:

The DOMS is normal - you recruit more back pulling conventional. And yay for 10 pull-ups! That’d be a nice goal for me - but I have so many. Also, yay for the free Jan. See, good deeds do reap good rewards.
