Need Some Help With Motivation

I’m a high school football player. I have the talent to get a scholarship to a division 1 school, but I seem to have lost my fire. I have lost motivation to train, and I need to find a way to get the desire back. I will be a junior. I’m 6 feet 2 inches tall. I currently weigh about 290. I need to drop down to about 260-270. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

Pussy!

Take steroids…seriously.

just bc u have the talent to get into a d 1 school dosnt mean u will.
they look for heart to and they can spot out bitches who are big but wont push there selfs.
if u need inspiration maybe you shouldnt play football bc the real football players i know wait 8 months for next season and bust there butts every day.

I understand what it’s like to loose motivation. The best thing that worked for me is get a buddy who knows nothing about lifting and bring him along. I wanted to show my friend up and the competition helped me with my “fire” as you so call it…

I have always wanted to play college football. It’s been my dream ever since I was a little kid. I just love to play football. I just need to re-ignite my desire. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you need motivation in any way then you don’t want it enough I am afraid. If its your dream then why do you need to be fucking motivated? Jesus, get out their and bust ass.

You’ve lost motivation to play hard in football, or you’ve lost motivation to train hard to play football? Or both?

Since the problem seems to be pyschological either way, perhaps you should consider seeing a sports psychologist.

Is there a possibility that you’ve been overtraining?

It’s a good observation. If you are not overtraining are your parents supportive, against it or indifferent to it? Do you have someone who knows this is your dream and supports you?

Stay away from the twinkies. What??? Did you think they were going to put hair on your chest??? You know what to do. Just don’t be a pussy about it. Eat right. Train hard. And stay away from the fucking “Shit-food”. Worthless…

You say you have the “talent” to make it to D1 but not the motivation? That’s too bad, because all of the other guys competing for that same scholarship are probably in the gym RIGHT NOW busting their ass and making their dreams come true.

Motivation comes from within, not from a bunch of goons (myself included) on a weightlifting forum.

Now get off the computer and up off your fat, whiney, lazy ass and make it happen.

If you truly have the talent and waste it your not only going to piss you self off but also people like me who don’t have the talent.

I would kill to be in your shoes and if I had the slightest chance you can gaurentee it would be my number 1 priority to make it happen.

I would kill to get a chance at a D-1 scholarship. I play volleyball and have been busting my ass for 4 years trying to get one (which is hard as hell when your a 5’9" middle). If you need motivation, you need to take a look at yourself for a second and see what matters to you. No one can do it for you.

Grab your balls, get your lazy ass to the gym and train. If you don’t, and you ruin this opportunity, a few years down the road you will be filled with regret. Life is tough enough as it is, don’t add to it.

Then again maybe you dont have the talent. Talent isn’t purely physical it’s mental as well. Develop the ability to stoke that inner fire. Look at what Jerry Rice does day in and day out to prepare for the season. He is 43 years old, has nothing left to prove and is simply the greatest wide receiver of all time! That’s motivation. Head over to the Over 35 forum and read about men twice and three times your age busting their ass…busting their ass for the simple love it.

Don’t squander this chance, now get to work.

That’s like the third pussy wimp in the last 24 hours posting about how they have lost motivation/are thinking about giving up training.

Give up. You’ll make us buffed studs look even better.

I think the best motivation comes from Lance Armstrong’s cameo in Dodgeball.

Lance Armstrong: Quit? You know, once I was thinking of quitting when I was diagnosed with brain, lung and testicular cancer all at the same time. But with the love and support of my friends and family, I got back on the bike and won the Tour de France five times in a row. But I’m sure you have a good reason to quit. So what are you dying of that’s keeping you from the finals?

Peter La Fleur: Right now it feels a little bit like… shame.

Lance Armstrong: Well, I guess if a person never quit when the going got tough, they wouldn’t anything to regret for the rest of their life. Well good luck to you Peter. I’m sure this decision won’t haunt you forever.

Now it’s time to ask yourself…

What are you dying of thats keeping you from the finals?

I like deans post. The bottem line is that you shouldnt cheat yourself and only give a half ass effort…so just give up. But if you want to be something and improve your skills and make use of your talent do it… I challenge you to work hard and not give up; and now I have your screen name so I will pm you from time to time to see how everything is going…if you are worth it …which I dont think you are…So prove me wrong by succeding.

Is this for real? Are you doing this so people will give you a pat on the back?

I go to med school with a guy who whines about how he could have played pro football. This guy is a fat ass that looks like he never touched a weight in his life. I’ve seen him run and he looks like a monkey screwing a football.

Don’t be like this guy…
“Woulda, coulda, shoulda”.

“If only I had a time machine, I’d go back and take state…”

college costs about $80,000 (give or take 30G) these days. Lets say you’re as good as you think you are, and you are able to get a full scholarship somewhere… that’s like getting 50-110 thousand bucks (depending on the school). Do you know how long it will take you to make that much money flipping hamburgers? about 4 years, ironically the same amount of time as college, but which do you think will actually take you somewhere in life? Lets say you really improve while you’re in school and have the opportunity to go pro, maybe NFL, Arena, Canada, or Europe, any of those careers has GOT to be better than some burger flippin.

oh, and lets say you don’t turn out to be all that good, at least you got an education and a degree that will take you somewhere in life!
