i’m having a hard time getting motivated for the gym lately. i was rocking and rolling about a month ago. i went five days a week at 5:30 in the morning and actually woke up excited to work out.
i had been working off and on for a while before that, but nothing significant, and before that i’d been going hard core.
i was well on my way back in to the shape i was in and would like to be in.
then i got sick for about two weeks with a nasty respritory virus.
now, i’ve been healthy for two weeks and have been to the gym twice. both times i gave myself a sub par work out.
i almost cringe at the though of going to the gym. it’s like a complete 180!
how do you motivate yourself?
i was almost back on a schedule and am now at ground zero.
is this burn out? laziness?
any pointers to get me enthused again?
Did you go to College?
If so, you would know that its mostly habit. You don’t like to go to class because its boring, your professor sucks, or mayb you want to sleep in after a long night with your girl.
But you still gotta do it if you want the degree. Its perfectly normal to feel like not going to the gym sometimes. but you still have te do it to achievev the result you want. No weights, no body. No exceptions to this rule.
Do it and make a habit out of it.
Also, make sure that you are eating enough and properly (cut down on the excessive carbs and simple sugars), and get plenty of rest.
Overtraining can make you fool drained and lazy. Read articles by Dr John Berardi to find out what you gotta eat, when and how.[/quote]
yeah, i’ll be wrapping up a degree in a few months. good analogy. i do just need to make myself go. i just havn’t had the motivation lately that i did before i got sick.
i appreciate the advice on eating and sleeping. i used to wrestle and have a pretty good handle on nutrition and healthy foods.
i’ve seen some of Berardi’s stuff, and he is definately insightful at times. i prefer to train like an athlete rather than a body builder though. i’m after over all health, agility, speed, strength etc rather than ballooning my muscles up as large as possible.
his definition of over training is a little different than mine. i don’t think that it is a problem. i’m just wanting motivation tips that others use i guess.
