Quiting The BBing Lifestyle...

although working out has singly been my favorite hobby of all time, i think its time for me to hang up the coat and just give up. i mean, its just so god damn expensive and time consuming to keep up with this lifestyle.

i not only have to pay for my car insurance (which is 4000 a year), but groceries as well, and i gotta admit its a bit tough with noone hiring me yet for part time work.

idk if i just want to casually work out and do all bodyweight exercises while not really eating a set diet and not caring about bulking or cutting cause i know for a fact that its killing me to balance the three most important things in my life: money, school, and working out.

i dont know what u guys think about it, but its a sad thought that i may end up completing later on.

Um . . . apart from a gym membership, it don’t cost a thing. Maybe a LITTLE more in food. The marginal increases in cost over a “normal” lifestyle (and don’t tell me that supplements are “necessary”) are so small it’s not even worth getting into.

Carry on, then. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.

Get over this whiny episode. Don’t be a quitter.

Good luck,

D

This post is pretty baffling to me, more so for what you leave out than what you say.

First off, what in the world is so expensive about the “bodybuilding lifestyle”? I need to get an idea of what you think this lifestyle is and what specific things about it are so pricey. There are tons of guys out there who have built great physiques without living in the lap of luxury.

Why are you having such a hard time balancing out school, money and working out? If your profile reads right, you’re a high school student for God’s sake. You should have more free time than 99.99% of the people on this site, for one thing… which brings us back to the money piece.

A gym membership and groceries is just not the most expensive thing in the world, my friend. Plus, you can go with less expensive food sources and buy in bulk if you need to save cash.

And why in the world is your car insurance $4K a year? Do you mow people down at will Grand Theft Auto style?

Seriously, details.

You’re a great troll. That or you’re a total loser. Bodybuilding will not missing you.

There are a lot of guys here not making a lot of money but making good gains in the gym.

Yeah having to pay for car insurance so you can drive to the gym is hard. Might as well stop bodybuilding so you don’t have to get a part time job. Now you can stay home 24/7. Good thinking!

I hope this is a joke.

Dunno what is so expensive. If you are going to college, it usually costs next to nothing for a membership at their facility. (If they have one of course) If you can not afford a gym membership, just buy a new/used weight set for your own use.

I did exactly what you are talking about and went from 5’10 at 185 and 6.5% bodyfat to 165lbs with maybe 8-9% bodyfat in a matter of a few months.

I still went to the gym, I still kinda ate healthy, but I’d miss meals and not be as consistent with my training.

I went from being in good shape to not good shape in a short period of time.

I rationalized in a very similar manner, telling myself “I’m sick of eating every 2-3.5hrs, I shouldn’t have to be this disciplined” and forgetting how much hard work it took me to get to where I was. It was a bad move and I did it because I was frustrated with other things, hanging out with people who were smoking weed all day, and feeling stagnant in my everyday life.

I would say nothing good came of it, I should have seperated myself from my friends, got some new hobbies and continued lifting and eating good.

I was stubborn when I chose to do it and probably wouldn’t have listened to anyone’s advice, but take a hard look around at what’s going on in your life before you make any decisions. In fact I’d recommend you eat a big healthy meal and then think about things.

Good luck.

How the hell is your car insurance that high? Are you that big of a liability… I didnt even think that was possible…

.

Life don’t get any easier man.
This kind of attitude will transfer over well to the rest of your life like school, carrer, reltionships, etc.
Have fun living with your parents into your 30’s

If that is all it takes to rattle your cage, I got news for you.

You never even started.

I don’t bodybuild, but I go to the gym and eat good.

whats so expensive? gas, car insurance, groceries, supps, all at less than $10 an hour with ~20 something hrs a week.

and no i dont have any free time. im lucky to work out in my free time if i have any, which i rarely dont.

well thx for all the remarks guys. i really feel like shit now.

Stop being a fucking whiner. If you give in with this so easily, then what are you going to do when other things get hard? Yup, you will give in.

You won’t be missed, learn to have some fucking determination and work ethic

Edit: You don’t NEED the supplements, cut that out and put that money towards food or w/e else

Did the same. NOT WORTH IT. I repeat, NOT WORTH IT.

If you keep grinding, one day you will realize that a. You look better than 95% of the population b. You’re stronger than most grown men and c. You WORKED HARD, and accomplished something.

But whatever, if you wanna give up then go ahead.

So roughly $200/week. What’s your rent? If you’re not paying rent, I can’t see why you’re stressing.

Shop around for new insurance. You’re either getting ripped off, or you shouldn’t be behind the wheel of a car.

Car and insurance too expensive? Public transit, bike, walk. Make use of those muscles.

Supplements? What supplements are you buying that are so damned expensive that they’re chewing up your cash? I can see maybe a protein powder and oils (flax, olive, etc) for extra calories… but I’d barely call those supplements. Nor is the powder needed, it just makes things more convenient.

Groceries? There’s many a thread and/or article around here about eating a good diet on a cheap budget. Check them out.

Live in an area where there are farms within easy travelling distance? Check out the local farmer’s markets. Food’s cheaper and of higher quality as often as not. Plus if you look around, you might find some farms are willing to trade labour for food. A day or two a week can keep you set in meat, and the labour will do you good (I’ve been considering the same myself).

I’m not getting where your excuses are coming from.

Doesn’t really seem bad especially when you compare your problems to those others face.

Drug addiction, Disease, starvation, floods, war, communisim, dry skin…um boils… frogs… locusts… death of the first born son…yadda yadda yadda.

Oh yeah and genocide.

Two tears in a bucket, go get yourself a napkin.

Obviously you were not really that much into the life style or you wouldn’t give up so easily. You just thought you were.

Well I guess you should just go say goodbye to your Squart rack curling buddies, they’ll just have to find somebody eles to to lay on the flat bench and help them with their assisted upright rows.

Is this tough love reverse psycology BS working yet?
