My Velocity Diet Journal!

Day 1 (1/2/07)
I chose to start my diet today because I had a hangover New Year’s Day and dieting with a hangover just triples it for me. I know some people are going to say another New Year’s Day resolution I know but F YOU! I am not stopping before 28 days PERIOD. This will help me mentally and professionally so I am giving myself no option. I am mainly doing this to modify my cravings for long term results.
5 shakes
15 fish oil
5 servings of flax seed meal
1 PWO shake 50g protein, 40g carbs.

Day 2 (1/3/07)
5 shakes
15 fish oil
5 servings of flax seed meal

Day 4 (1/4/07)
5 shakes
15 fish oil
5 servings of flax seed meal
1 PWO shake 50g protein, 40g carbs.
Day 5 see above. I think I??ll take some pics tomorrow if I get a chance.

Day 5 (1/6/07)
Today was very hard. It was my nephew’s birthday. There was pasta, meatballs, chicken wings, cheese cake, ice cream cake, regular cake, and a 2 gallon tub of ice cream! I made sure I had a shake before I went and had ice water and chewed the ice cubes. It was the hardest part of the diet so far. Today was the first day things REALLY got to me. I made it through because I read Gus’s thread and Chris Shugart’s inspirational posts. So I am going to go back to day one and remember what I can so maybe I can help someone else.
I changed up my shakes today. I alternate between protein with fish oil and protein with flax meal.

I will be much better at updating the log well now that I have a log.
Biotest supps on the way so no excuses!

My Stats: Day 1
I will use a tape tomorrow the 6th: 5’9" 228lbs ~20% bf
My weight is down to 220 today.

Toaday was going great until 5:30. I do not know what happened but my eyes got very dry and I had an amonia taste in my mouth. As soon as I got home I had a shake and a tablespoon of PB. No workout so just the 5 shakes. I will be able to train tomorrow so I am already looking forward to the sugar.

I think I would’ve caved at the bday party…nice work

I had that problem at a Grizzlies game last week. Didnt’ get a chance to have a shake before going and had to endure everyone around me sucking down BBQ Nachos and shite.

Not fun :frowning:

Btw I’ve been having one solid meal a day and still making great progress. Usually grilled chicken or fish, steamed broccoli, and a handful of mixed nuts.

I’d recommend some HOT-ROX too. Take that stuff on an empty stomach twice a day and you’ll be wired…not to mention you won’t be hungry for hours.

Sounds like you’re just experience ketosis to me. The taste in the mouth is a common experience. Just from respirating ketones. You get used to it. Eyes being dry is probably just dehydration. Remember you’re going to drop water like crazy cuz of the low carbs and high protein intake so remember to drink plenty of water.

thanks for the post Smartmartguy

Yeah I understood the taste was ketosis but I wanted to add it because I wasn’t sure if it was related to the dry eyes. I’ve never heard of dry eyes being related to dehydration??? I have a couple of HOT-ROX on the way and I have been drinking a Spike Shooter on some days where I need a lift.

Day 7. Another uneventful day. The only problem is I did not have time to train :frowning:

Before anyone rips me for not being dedicated: I am working all day and part time at night while I am getting a masters degree, in one year, on the nights I am not working. Not trying to B.S. but thought it was relevant.

I do have to say the peanut butter is a life saver. I am not sure if it is ok but I split the serving up into two times a day. I love PB!
I also made a shake in a blender with ice and instant coffee. I usually drink the shakes with room temp water so this was a treat. Thanks Chris.
I can??t wait to train i.e. have carbs after training tomorrow.

Well felt like shit yesterday so I will update today twice. My order came in THNKS Biotest! Ordered on Sunday and received package on Wednesday wow. I made a shake in the blender with ice, flax, chocolate Metabolic Drive, teaspoon of instant coffee and 8oz of water. It had the consistency of a milk shake. It didn’t taste like one but the consistency was great and it even tasted good.

My workouts have been kind of ok so I tried the one from Gus’ log. This was pretty different from an intensity stand point that I have been performing. I thought training this hard would cause overtraining, but I will listen to the man who wrote the diet and follow this from now on.

After the workout I felt like crap. I am not sure what happened but I thought I was getting sick. I woke up this morning and I was fine.

FOOD I WNAT FOOD.

I had a similar experience today. All day I had been craving real food, anything! Then round 5:30 ish I suddenly felt ill, like I was going to vomit. Then an hour later I felt alright. Weird stuff.

Good Luck and keep going

Day 9

Shakes all day again. Went for a walk at 3.5deg incline at 3.5mph for 45 min.

Today was better than yesterday. I am still having cravings.

I baught Berardi’s book and all I can think about is my one solid meal Saturday. I started flipping through it and I had to put it down quick.

I started the diet Tuesday and I want my solid meal on Saturdays so I skipped it Tuesday and I am waiting til Saturday. I think this was a bad move. I am not going to cheat but it would have been NICE to eat a steak yesterday.

Another one down.
219lbs

tpepper88 Yeah it comes and goes sometimes. I drink a lot of water when I feel like this and it makes me feel better. Kinda wierd but I eat the icecubes and it helps.

Keep strong!

Right on Bill021! Great job on the weight loss so far! Those walks are really important and if you’re pressed for time just study a little bit while walking.

I hear ya about the food cravings. They do change for the better but sometimes that solid meal day just doesn’t come soon enough ha ha! I have a hard time reading about other the other PC members meal plans without stomach grumblings.

You have a great attitude about the program and I honestly think you are going to accomplish more than you imagined.
Stay motivated and take care Bro!

gustavopacho Thanks for the kind words!

Today was ok but I can’t stop thinking about my solid meal tomorrow.

I’ve decided to grill up a steak at home. There is a place not too far away that sells prime beef. I’m going to go for the good stuff.

Thing that really sucks is I have a standardized test all day tomorrow, starting at 7:45. I’ll blow about $500 if I fail it. The only good thing is I can take it again, for a fee of course. Carbs would be great to have but no way I am effing this up so here goes nothing.

I have to say the peanut butter is a life saver. Did I say a life SAVER!

Try green tea. It has become my partner in crime.
Good luck on the V-Diet so far… stay POSITIVE and remember that ya ain’t doing this for ‘free’ - there is definitely a reward, and it’s worth it!

I think Im going to buy some green tea.

Well today was SOLID MEAL DAY! I stopped and got a prime rib eye. I used one of the recipes from Gourmet Nutrition. It definitely was good.

Interesting though, I wasn’t craving food that bad. I was stressed and all but the cravings were low. Even when I was cooking I was hungry but not ravenous. Weird.

Another one down.

I’m going to go for a walk in the AM and I’ll train with weights later in the day.

Keep going dude, almost there.

One thing that I really do enjoy about the vdiet are these walks. Its pretty cool just getting out of my hectic day for an our and getting some fresh air. Dont have to worry about school or money or anything. I think I will be keeping a few of these per week even after im done. Though I have to say, after an hour of walking at 3.5 mph my legs would definatley not call that walk “non-exercise.” My calfs kill!

Good luck dude

Good job! You should be proud of yourself. Each weekly meal is a great milestone, and a monument to your dedication and mental toughness.

Keep it up. And make sure to take your weekly pics and measurements etc.

Day 12

Because I ate a solid meal yesterday I decided to not have that much fat today. I had 2 tbl spoons of flax and 2 tabs of Flameout. I still had my protein as usual.

I’m having cravings again. For some reason I REALLY want a can of sirloin soup with extra sirloin that I cook and add to it. I hope this goes away by next Sat cause it would suck to blow my one meal on soup…

Went for a walk but didn’t get a chance to train. I’ll make time tomorrow to lift.

Another one down ready to start eating but I will wait.

What the heck is sirloin soup, never heard of that. Ditto on the cravings though…I just want real food againnnn. That chicken killed me.

Btw, howd your test go?

Keep going dude

You know, the cans of soup you get at the grocery store, well I think it’s Campbell’s that makes a sirloin stew or something. I had it once and it just popped into my head. I sometimes will heat a half a can of chicken noodle or sirloin soup/stew and add either chicken or sirloin to it. This keeps the carbs down along with sodium but gives me a good amount of protein. This is not a staple of my diet but a quick option that I use sometimes.

Well I could have passed them or failed them, I took three over 7 hours. I am in the middle on how I feel about them. They don’t give enough time to work through all of the problems thoroughly for a reason and I like to take my time.

I will say I skipped the HOT-ROX and took a of can of Spike Shooter with me. I know Spike helped me stay alert for the tests. I am going to pick up some Caffeine-Free Spike tabs for the next test. I have to take two more these will be in Chemistry. By the time I take them I’ll be eating carbs again.

Tpepper I was reading your thread keep it up. Its nice to know someone else is going through the same things and succeeding…

Day 13

216lbs

Had a good work-out. I started only having .5 tablespoon of pb because it felt like to much of a cheat… I dropped weight quick at the beginning and now I’ve slowed considerably.

Because I added the pwo carbs I only took in 4 Flameout and 3 tablespoon of flax. Of course I kept the protein the same.

I’m ordering more Metabolic Drive so I can try different flavors.

I’ll post pics as soon as I can find the cable that connects my camera to my laptop.

Another one down…

looking forward to Saturday’s solid meal… What to eat?? hmm

Day 14

Halfway HOME!

Well I got tired of looking for the cable for my camera so here is a pic from my cell. I know it sucks but it’s something.

Today went well. I did change some things up slightly. Someone tell me if it is bad.

Shake:
2 scoops Metabolic Drive
1 Tblespoon flax meal
1 Flameout

Now I didn’t have the last Flameout becuase I had a tblspoon of natty pb. I think this is good right?

This means I’m down 154 cal from what I should be at for a non training day… Does anybody have any input?

Day 15

I felt sick early in the day. I drank a bunch of water and pounded a shake. It is the first time I felt like I needed more calories bad.

Today was a good training day. Good PWO nutrion and everyhting went well.

I think I’m going to do 2 tblspoon of flax for the first shake and then go back to one. So my shakes will look like this.
1)
2 scoops of Metabolic Drive
2 tblespoon flax
1 Flameout

2 scoop Metabolic Drive
1 tblespoon flax
1 Flameout

2 scoop Metabolic Drive
1 tblspoon flax
1 Flameout

2 scoop Metabolic Drive
1 tblespoon flax
1 Flameout

2 scoop Metabolic Drive
1 tblspoon natty pb

comes out to 1342 calories.

a little low but I am stuck at 216…

If things don’t go down soon I’ll add calories because I can’t go lower…
suggestions?

forgot to add I take 4 HOT-ROX 2 at a time .
