The guys at T-Nation, the authors and the members, are awesome. You guys have helped me out sooo much! So firstly i wanna say thanks! The whole Physique Clique concept is amazing and i love the fact you guys help others in achieving their goals.
A bit about me; im 22 and have been training seriously for the past 3 yrs. Ive basically been following Chad Waterbury’s programs to add mass to my skinny frame. His workouts have also dramatically improved my stamina and endurance to help me play football (soccer) to my highest ability. However as a full time student i have defiantly put my body through some bad times; binge drinking and eating junk food, consequently i have put on some fat around my body; this is not acceptable to me!
Enter the Velocity Diet. The article was a brilliant read and so was the log Chris and many other members posted. It defiantly inspired me to give it a try. I started researching the diet a month prior to my start date. Many of my questions were answered by simply reading very helpful posts by members. However i had to directly contact Chris in order to clarify a few things.
I usually play really high intense indoor soccer twice a week; i will be giving that up through out the duration of diet. I will be following the workout program Chris posted. Basically i will be following the diet exactly how Chris planned it.
Now I’m not exactly sure what my bf% is but im 6ft1 and weight 197.4lbs. In the right lighting my top four abs are slightly visible but the bottom sucks. Im using this diet to, in the words of Chris, get ‘ridiculously lean’.
Excited and nervous to start. I thought it would be a piece of cake, a lot harder than I thought. Had a great session in the gym, evening was difficult. Felt hungary very strong urge to binge; resisted temptation.
Had a good sleep, went for walk in the morning, came back feeling very fresh and energetic. Day has been incredibly easy maybe due to the fact that ive been occupied with so many things and thus haven??t noticed any hunger cravings.
Feeling energetic during day maybe because of the HOT-ROX. A lot of free time on my hands due to the fact im not cooking, evening times are most difficult. Sitting around with nothing to do makes me want to give up and binge, I wont do it!! Very tired now , looking forward to tomorrow.
Again today was easy. Protein shakes are keeping me full, enjoying the taste, but problems are starting to occur. Firstly no matter how much water i drink i feel thristy. My mouth is really dry and so are my lips ( i noticed other members suffering the same problems). My breath stinks!!! Im loving the morning walks, makes me feel good, i actually felt like busting out a run but carried on with the brisk walk.
Todays workout was fantastic!! Had so much energy for it, loved the excersises. Ive started to notice a trend wherby the mornings and day i do not feel hungary, feel energetic. But evenings are bloody hard. My stmoach feels wierd, i dont feel hungary but it just feels empty. Wierd feeling. Oh yeh my sleep last night was utter crap…maybe because of the HOT-ROX, never used it before.
Good luck with everything. I’m gonna start cutting like end of February so I’m still deciding on what diet/routine I’m going to follow so I’m interested in reading everyone’s feedback on various diets and such.
Right im really starting to get used to this. The strong urge i had to binge the first couple of days seems to be slowly disappearing. I felt very weird the first couple of days but everything is starting to feel alot better, mouth aint as dry, stomach generally doesn’t feel empty (night times are still a bit hard though).
I think its important that when considering a cutting diet to remember that doing the velocity will certainly help you in the long term with the food choices you make. I see junk food around me all day but my desire to indulge is slowly disappearing.
Ive lost 5 pounds so far. That alone has made significant visual changes to my body. Main thing is i feel great, really energetic all day. I’m loving the diet, love the walk in the mornings, i suppose its still early days though i may start to suffer in the 2nd week. Anyways i’ll keep you posted.
I think i spoke too soon. Im starting to really struggle with this. Its my 8th day now and i thought i was gona breeze through this but god damm i am hungry. The thing is i know that my inner will power will not let me give up, but man i am finding this hard now.
The weekend went well, my choice of meal was grilled chicken and veg. I think todays been my hardest day. Stomach feels sooo dodgy. The shakes are starting to make me feel bloated, i feel like burping but its not coming. My workouts are still great; strength has not decreased one tiny bit and i’m loving the morning walks. Its only really in the evenings im struggling but no sacrifice no victory (just finished watching transformers) i wont give up.
good luck. Whenever you want to cheat, remember why you’re doing this. This always works for me. Feeling good about yourself is way better than eating candy or other cheat items.
Ok update time. Im on day 11 now. Training again was great. I think i really need to empathize this point because i thought i was going to hate weight training during this diet. But no, i slightly increased my weights on each exercise and exercised with real good intensity. Im drinking half a Surge serving before i train, along with BCAAs, somethings obviously working.
In terms of the diet itself, i’m finding it a breeze again. Had a tough couple of days but i managed to get through it and am feeling great. Total weight loss so far is 9 pounds.
No headaches, mood swings no crap like that. Sleeping is great no problems in that department. Im trying to be as honest as i can be here, made no alterations to the diet just following it as prescribed (maybe thats why its
working).
Hard to tell but you look about as lean as I do. I have no idea what my BF% is either so I can’t help you out. I’ve used calipers but I don’t think they are accurate. The calipers say 10% but I weight 182 and there is no way that I am that lean because I don’t look super muscular and at 10% 182 I would look huge.
I’d say anywhere from 10-13percent If I HAD to guess.
From what I understand everyones body is slightly different in terms of where it stores the bodyfat. The are general differences between girls and guys (pear v.s. apple), but individual differences occur to. That being said your midsection is pretty lean. I know that I have very little bodyfat ANYWHERE except my midsection, so if MY abs looked like that that would place me at 10 percent maybe even less.
You may (and probably are) different. Perhaps you have fatty deposits on your back, or more on your thighs. The only good way to judge would be a bigger spread of pictures. Or go get tested. Nice work btw, keep it up good luck.
Hey thanks for your input. I suppose judging it on the basis everyone is different does put things in better perspective for me. Man it is a bitch though trying to get rid of the bit of fat right at the bottom but im optimistic with 16 days left. I guess i have more fat on my thighs. Anyway when im totally finished i’ll post complete total body pics. I’ll never post them on rate my physique though. I’ll sound stupid if i said im not doing this for the visual appearance but i rather become quicker, more agile on the football (soccer) field thats my passion. I want to push my body as hard as i can to become a great athlete; the velocity diet is kinda like kick start to a long hard road ahead of me. You like basketball, maybe you can relate.
This is day 5 of the diet for me and those evening cravings do get a bit hard but I’ve found that drinking a little bit of vinegar or taking tiny bites of natural peanut butter throughout the evening helps control those (taking bites of PB that equals about a table spoon a night, were talking very small). I’ve lost 6.7 pounds so far although i’ve got a bit more fat than you do to lose. Looks like you’ll finish about a week ahead of me but keep it up. The things that keep me going are all the ones who told me theres no way you can stick to this or all the people who tell you how impressed they are that you can handle something like this.
Something I’d like some input on as far as how you “feel”. I don’t know how to exactly put it but I feel alot more clear I guess you could say, I can focus alot better and never feel tired (thank you HOT-ROX). It’s weird to think that on a diet this extreme I feel the best I’ve ever felt in my whole life as far normal resting feeling goes.
Oh totally. I am 6’4 and could barely dunk! I play the 3 or the 4 and the ability to finish strong is quite important. Anyways I am in the gym one day squatting and I think to myself “my legs are a lot bigger than those skinny kids who are 5’7 and grab the rim, what the heck is my problem vertically?”…bodyfat was the answer.
I get what your saying. It’s inefficient. It serves little to no athletic purpose in terms of performance. When I squat down and prepare to jump up, not only are my back, hip, core, quad, hammys and calves lifting themselves…there lifting the rest of my body (FAT INCLUDED), so it became apparent to me the key was to reduce down from my 20 percent bodyfat to a decent number (10-12) so that I’ve got less to get up in the air! Seems incredibly simple in hindsight, but sometimes you just don’t recognize things that are right in your face.
Same thing with you. When your out on the pitch, that fat is impeding your ability to perform. It slows you down, reduces your ability to cut, heck it the only thing it might be good for is trapping the ball hahah
