sorry to post such a non-bodybuilding oriented achievement and a low level one at that. But ring work has been my mode lately. The muscle-up is my sattori if you will.
Also, this has been my goal for ages and today I owned that fooker three times. Not in a row of course, with large breaks in between. but once I did it and no one was watching they were all playing with themselves or something. So then I had to do it again on video for posterity etc.
I thought my elbows were going to explode. I’d hate to actually see what D or E level moves are like.
HD video coming as soon a julius gets it to me on disc.
In other news: I finally found a spray on skin moisturizer which sounds mad ghey, which is ok of course. But you see now that I have this I can quit putting cream on my so-dry-i-scratch-till-it-bleeds arms and calves and get some hand callouses back. Previously the cream softened up my hands like a babys. Now I can have man-hands again. Like a farmer and shit.

Cool. Where do you hang your rings from? I was thinking about getting some rings but I have no idea where I would hang them…[/quote]
At my BJJ/MT/wrestling gym they also run strongman type conditioning classes. So my buddies who run that shit have two pieces of webbing tied to one of the I-beams on the roof. So it’s an optimal setup. Plus my buddy julius is our gymnastics coach every sunday. He’s more into floor work though. I’m “the muscle ups guy” because I wank for that shit.
But I Also just hang that shit from the rack or a high chin bar at the uni gym. In the next condo I’m moving to it has a porch with a deck above it on the second floor. If I loop the ring webbing from the 2x4’s on the 2nd floor deck I can train rings on the porch.
Also, soccer up rights, tree limbs and many other places are great for the rings. If you have 2x6 or 2x8 joyces in your main floor you can drill D rings into your basement roof.
Nice, grats man. Have you been working on the iron cross at all? I think muscle-ups might be my next goal for ring-work. I rock at weighted pull-ups and weighted dips, so it only seems natural to do that next. What was your progression like?

Uh well, I trained the negative very slowly, especially through the “transition” between chin and dip. Also start using your false grip for all ring work now. The false grip makes or breaks it. Then just keep trying till one day you hit it. Every coach I read said It’s basically a matter of “pushing harder” at your stick point. Hence the name I suppose. But once you get it i suppose you can own it, like your first chin or something.
Nice. My false grip is generally really good until I put my arms at full extension. I use it on the cross and it generally holds perfectly will I get to 90 and then completely straighten my elbows too. That’s when it starts to break - it just feels like it’s destroying my tendons. Same thing on false grip pull-ups. It feels fine unless I drop down to straight arms/deadweight. Did you experience that at first too?

What I’ve noticed is that you can’t go to fully extended hang with false grip. Most of the oly guys Ive watched start at an extended hang and then pull into their false grip and their arms are bent. I can’t seem to fully extend without losing it either.

Alright great, I thought I was doing something wrong. Thanks a lot man .

I just read now that the reason is because it shortens your tendons responsible for pulling and therefore prevents extension while maintaining the grip. apparently there are some guys that can go straight arm with false grip. But since we aren’t being judged in the olympics, fuk it.
