“hi, my name is heavythrower, and i haven’t lifted in 5 days”
Eveything OK? Hope all is well and you just haven’t had time to update us.
hahaha, busted! i have been lifting, but they have been so [piss poor that i am embarrassed to post them. my low back has been jacked up for weeks now, for no damn good reason other than i am near 40, and i have ben having serious tendonitis in both forearms/brachialis insertions to the point i can barely grip or pull anything. my last “real” workout i worked up to 100kg in the clean, and could do no more, and 220kg in the deadlift before i had to stop. i cant do chins now either. today i jst played around with machines and dumbells and did a BB type chest and back workout. total bullshit.
thanks for checking in though! as soon as i am doing anything interesting i will post it!

Not sure how to interpret that one… looks like weights but what about reps?

Hmmmmm… naw.
ok, my back is messed up.
hurts all the time, have trouble sleeping, cant stand or sit for long periods of time without major problems. gonna rehab it like i did when i blew out 3 discs back in march of 2002. for now only dragging a sled and pushing a prowler for low body, lots of low abds, and upperbody stuff.
back in bama this week visiting my dayughters, so no access to a sled, so i did 8 25 yard “sprints” with their mom’s mercedes R class, curb wieght a little over 6000lbs, this was a great workout, my herat and lungs and legs got a tremendous workout, i was pumped to hell and back, veins popping out of my thighs and calves, and NO low back pain at all during this. whoo-hoo!
Ever try Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM for your joint aches and pains? I was going to retire from lifting about 9 years ago because of pain in various tendons and joints. A friend turned me unto the stuff above and after about a month of taking every day, my pains and aches went away, even until this day. I take the Glucosamine/Chondroitin made by Optimum Nutrition and the cheapest MSM I can find.
You have to let it take time to build up in your system before you see any relief. When you do, you’ll be ‘addicted’ just like I am. It took me from thinking of quitting to thinking of setting some new PR’s! Let me know what you think?

What do you recall here … about 30 days for initial effects and then 60-90 for full relief? I hear different numbers but have personally never taken the stuff religiously enough to get there.
Dan
hey art, thanks for the advice. i am going to try that. it has taking me a few years to get into the habbit of taking fish oil and a multivitamin every day, and an asprin(i have a heart condition), i need to start the msm and glcosomine, as you are not the first to reccomend it to me.
how much of each do you take?
ok, here it goes. i am stupid. heavythrower is a complete idiot.
my back is fucked up. we know this, right? i just posted how i was laying off the squats and pulls right?
here is what happened today. went to go get a flat fixed in my ex’s car. looked like it was going to take an hour or so to get to it, so i had some time to kill and t the little gym i use here in bama when visiting was only 5 minutes away. so i went in to do some abds, and maybe some(gasp) cardio.
got in there and there was this big jacked up dude PLAYING with 315 on the flat bench, like maybe 10-15 reps. my pride was kicking me in the ass, and seeing how he looked only average from waste down, typical of the dudes in the southeastern area who work the shit out of the bench but because of “bad knees or bad backs do to highschool football, etc” or “i dont want my legs to get too big” they do NOTHING for their low body.
deadlifts were out of the question, so my dumb ass decides to squat.
here it goes:
135x 25
225x5, 245x3, 275x3, 315x3, 335x3, 365x3, 385x3, 405x3, 425x3, ouch! ok. i really needed to stop here. everybody hear that? i REALLY needed to stop here.
but read my first words, i am stupid. instead of stopping, i decided it was time to add my belt. 455x3, 475x3, 495x3. none of these felt real bad, started to add some knee wraps and keep going, but i finally came to my senses and stopped.
also the big dude came up to me and noticing how deep i was going asked “man, dont that shit hurt yo knees and back? da-yum! that shit hurts me jus lookin at it” mission accomplised, so i stopped here.
finished with some abds and shrugs and bodyweight split squats in a circuit and went to get the tire fixed.
after sitting down for about 45 minutes waiting for them to finish with the car, got up, and now i REALLY know how stupid i am. PAIN. almost could not stand straight up. hobbled to the car and how i made it home without anesthesia i dont know. i am sitting here typing after 800mg of ibuprofin and 2 vicodins.
by tommarro, i will know even more so how fucking stupid i am im sure.
i really need to be flogged for this , so please do not hold back and feel free to rip me appart. have fun, i deserve it.
Damn, Heavy
I haven’t squated since the last time I tried something similar. My back wasn’t up to it butI went ahead and squated anyway.
I’m back to the neurosurgeon in March.
This thread is going to get old real quick if you kill yourself showing off.
Anyway, best of luck. Have you had anyone relook at your back?
no, but when i ruptured three discs 4 years ago, it was LOTS worse than it is now, and i went two 4 doctors, 2 wanted me to have surgery, 2 did not, and i rehabbed it myself. so i will probably try just backing off and doing what helped it at the time before i go back to seek medical advice.

you are in bama now, but where do you live? (me = too lazy to dig through thread to see) … you need to get to a doctor like Ryan Smith … he can help
damn you ;|
i live and work most of the time in the northern california, i travel for a living.
Heavy,
I take 1500mg Glucosamine & 1200mg Chondroitin - they come from Optimum Nutrition CSA I think it’s called. I take 2 tabs in the am and 2 tabs in the pm. I take 1000mg MSM only in the am with the Glusocamine/Chondroitin.
…about your workout…I got the lock on stupidity. When you look it up in the dictionary or online, my pic is next to it! Sounds like you’ll ‘recover’ only to go heavier next time 'cause this time didn’t kill you, only hobbled you a bit. Till next post, heal up and tell us about your next workout.
I highly recommend the Glucosomine/condroiton/MSM. I still get aches and pains when I’m taking it, but if I ever stop WHOA NELLY!!!
Take care of that back, Heavy this thread is too good to end because of that.
And not EVERYONE in the southeast avoids squats. Almost everyone, but not ALL.
Of course if he’s early 20’s, trying to get enough facial hair for a goatee, wears a wifebeater and can’t put a hat on straight you can bet he’s not squatting.
