My Baby Got Sauce

Thanks for the input. I think HARA’s got it spot on. 5/3/1 done CORRECTLY. I think that’s the route I’m going to take (the PLer version of it). I’ll go the ‘keep it simple, dumbass’ route for now.

Goals:
-Weighed in at 64.something with a full breakfast/coffee/water. A coach in my flight said it might make sense to cut back to 132 next time because I don’t have the musculature yet to fill out the 148. So, my plan is to get RIPPED AS SHIT in the next 5 months.

Hey there Lula. I’m no PL coach but at this early stage in your future long and awesome PL career, I would disagree with spending the next few months tryig to get stronger through better programming (531 for PLers) AND trying to get super lean. You are already lean and schmexy as it is.

Getting leaner will make it VERY hard to get significantly stronger. And it will be frustrating as shit trying to manage school, work, PL programming and being super strict with your diet. You are already frustrated that your numbers aren’t moving, right? Train hard, eat well and beat your current PRs at the 6/16 meet. Once that one is in the record books, then you can assess. IMO, FWIW, OMG, POIDH

5/3/1. I will only think about Westside when I go equipped and working towards my ultimate goal. Going off of giterdone, fuck cutting. It’s just going to cause you to stress hardcore, and you won’t improve on your numbers very well. So that only leaves one thing, get the musculature.

Since you got until June, I would run a few months with the bulk phase. BBB is awesome for this. Then drop into meet prep. If you want, drop me the date, and I can write it out how I would do it, if I wasn’t with Josh. Though, finding out we think alike on how to get ready for a meet. Except this injury part…

See, this is the part that is really frustrating for me. I’ve never really seen a correlation between my food intake and my lifting performance, so it’s hard for me to imagine that I’m going to lose a lot strength wise but cutting a little (and I should stop using the word cutting, because I don’t think that’s technically what I’d be doing). Honestly, if I could harden up (i.e. lose ass and increase abs) and not lose a pound, I’d be ok with that. I’m not married to a number on a scale…but I am a little bit married to how I’m going to look in shorts or a bikini. When it comes to building muscle v. being lean, I feel I have a dual personality. Throw in the PT stuff and I’m your average schizophrenic. Argh.

And ha!..IMO FWIW OMG POIDH…I just turned a guy down for a date because he used LOL and TTYL in the same text. Mebbe I need to relax my standards.

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

I’m leaning toward 5/3/1–Just physiologically, westside makes sense to me. But, I think since I’m still starting out, there are a lot of gains to be made by keeping it simple. And yea, I don’t see a bulk phase in my near future. Talk to me next November and MAYBE I’d think about it. But I’m going to be spending my summer in the Hamptons of the Midwest (heyoooo) and will be in bikini every weekend. I will not be in a bulk phase when this happens. Plus, the lighter I get, the more impressive my lifts get, no? Ugh. I hate diet talk.

Ha. Dont relax them. If I realized that I had used LOL and TTYL while trying to score a hot date Id want to punch myself in the face.

Awesome job on our first meet-

way to tear it up!!
I think your text standards are good

what is this talk about losing ass? stop that crazy talk!

I’m certainly no expert on cutting or whatever, but I would think the weight you would want to lose shouldn’t effect the squat and DL, but Ive heard often that bench strength really correlates with weight gain. Do what makes you happy and what you feel is attainable with everything else you may have going on.

Agreed nothing wrong with standards. It just seems weird to be that casual with a woman you are trying to impress. It’s like swearing in front of someone you just met. Maybe that’s just me though? I like to wait until I know someone better before I introduce them to the potty mouth.

and congrats on the first meet.

See, that wouldn’t be a deal breaker for me, the LOL and TTYL. But I’m working with a phone from 1995, so homeboy better be brief! I also like smiley faces

I get you on the cutting, etc. I personally feel you won’t lose strength if you lean out. But you are super lean as is! So I don’t know where that’s going to go from…

My best bet, and what it sounds like you plan to do if I’m reading you correctly, would be to focus on putting on some lean mass, which will probably not change your weight all that much, might even help you drop a few pounds, and then come meet time give the water manipulation a try?

Looking forward to following your new program!! Its gonna be fun!

Just on the cutting weight point, I suppose it depends on whether the objective is to 1. hit the same numbers at a lighter weight class or 2. to increase the absolute total at the same or somewhat higher BW or 3. to hit bigger numbers at a lighter weight class.

  1. hard but doable
  2. likely
  3. a bitch

I’d pick 2. and then lean out for summer to be all schmexy in my bikini. Er…you know what I mean.

git-i’m beginning to love your trips in here because you call me shmexy and refer to a date with me as a ‘hot date.’ sigh my ego is appropriately inflated.

kmc-thanks!!

matty-I should be careful how I word things. I definitely want ass. A big, beautiful, bubble butt, to be precise, so have no worries. I’ve read that about weight:bench as well…I’ll just have to get beastly strong then.

Charliehorse-YES. You totally get it. And even besides the fact that he should be putting on his game face, (watch me alienate half of TN in 3…2…), I think LOL should be reserved for 13 year old girls. Or I’ll expand it to just females. But no self-respecting man should throw up an LOL for a text. Feel free to use your fucking potty mouth in here, I don’t mind. And thanks for starting that race for plates thread, I love that.

Maschy-I’m cool with brevity, but who uses even TTYL anymore minus a cartoon tiger!? The other week I kind of ruled a guy out because he wore white nike shocks with jeans, I think I’m a product of the Seinfeld (or was it Friends?) generation and probably look for faults. Oh well. And yes! You are reading correct about adding lean mass. I fully know the scale isn’t an honest predictor of leanness, but I sure wouldn’t be mad about being about looking super strong and being the weight i am now. (PIC above is your 1995 phone)

Playing the weight class game is quite common in powerlifting. I understand why the coach gave you the advice to cut to the 60s. The 67.5 female open class is very cluttered and competitive, even at local meets. The lower weight classes have a lot more room. You’re sitting sort of smack in the middle of the classes.

If you can cut the weight and continue to make gains, I think it’s good advice. You’ll have to experiment with it and see, though. I’m not sure you have the wiggle room on your body to cut that much weight without sacrificing . . . something.

I’ve come for the sauce.

Well I’m fucked then if that is the case… If you knew me on a personal base, you would know that I love to laugh and enjoy life (scary thought after reading my log…). Why I hate anything to convey who I am over a damn screen and keyboard. I make people, and myself, laugh a lot. Maybe some of the sickest shit you can hear, but I still get a laughing “what the fuck”. I guess expressing that over a screen is wrong.

catching up in here…congrats on the meet…beastly!!

Git: I’m going option 3. Obviously I have to choose the hardest option. It’s my nature.

Snap: I think I’m going do exactly that. If I’m losing weight and noticing NOTHING is moving, then I’ll stop. But I don’t have a ridiculous
amount to lose that I think it should go unnoticed. Regardless, I need to get stronger (states the obvious).

Count: Now I’m going to need you to be specific. Are we talking the sweetandsouronmypussy kind (as referred to on page 1), or are we still talking cocktail? I mean I’ve got both.

Kouba: By no means take what I said earlier seriously. Foot-in-mouth. And my standards are totally whacked. For example, I take the texting and white nikes thing as a reason not to go out with a guy, yet my ex was a 31 year old struggling actor (see also: bartender) who lived at his parents’. Apparently being a man-boy isn’t on my list of dequalifications (IS NOW). Keep on throwing out the lols.

Deja: Thanks! Had some of the best bacon ever last weekend, thought of you. (I would say not to be creeped out, but maybe a little?!?

  1. Option 3. Cute and stubborn…figures. But I know you can do it.

  2. sweetandsouronmypussy made me go to page 1 (secretly hoping that it had something to do with a girls night out and too much gin)

  3. man-boy was friggin funny.

I agree with the big boys - I’d much rather you LWI and fuel yourself but I understand the competitive drive. Only now you aren’t making it me vs me so much. Remember that if you find yourself frustrated by the outcome, and not finding the fun anymore.

I don’t want to sound negative so go ahead and prove me wrong.

All good. We all have our little quirks. In what little I’ve been in, the little quirks can make it a great relationship, or a relationshit. Depends on the partner, and if they actually enjoy life.
