My Baby Got Sauce

lula, how wonderful that you did so well and had such a great experience! You have found your tribe.

It will be interesting to see you “get ripped” between now and June when you have the goal of making weight for a competition rather than the body-image situation that has been the case up until now.

Congrats!! So glad you had a blast at your first meet. time to recover and then nail down the training plan for the June meet !!

and yes, us PL’ers are a the nicest bunch, even if we aren’t hairy :-))

CONGRATS!

haha another PL is born!!!

good job at the meet. take what you learned from it and bring it to the next. The fire is contagious, I’ll use some of it to push me through my workout tonight.

Lula It was great meeting YOU! Speaking of HOT …

How nuts is it with a room full of people, I sat right next to your biggest fan  Yess, ha maybe over a couple beers or a scoop of Surge we need to talk about him, oh my! Joking aside, how cool you had such great support! He pointed out all kinds of people from your gym, tap into them!!!

He was cracking me up " There was this girl that just showed up at the gym one day…she is like loading all these plates on the bar, I run over to her and say, WHOA THERE, whatcha doin? and BAM she just lifts it up, like it was nothin! She is so strong!!"

You had such QUIET CONFIDENCE, LOVED THAT!! You looked focused and in your ZONE!

As far as the singlet goes, I feel better about putting one on, not sure if its cause you rocked it, or it just takes on a whole new meaning for me. That would be the last thing on my mind. Would like to hear a bit more about what the atmosphere in there did for you, did it make you feel stronger? Did it make you feel rushed with the commands? Did it help you get in the zone? What?

Im looking forward to see what you do with your training, not to mention “getting ripped”, you had incredible muscle definition, Very nice!

PS. Im pretty sure you had REPS left with that last DL!!!

EDIT: Relentless, Im in trouble!

Yay! So glad to hear your meet went well  Way to kick ass, lula!

Congratulations on a fine first meet. I look forward to following your continued success.

Thanks guys, lots of room to grow. I’m excited.

OMG, when I saw you sitting next to him I had to laugh. Definitely over a couple beers we can talk about him. I have to say though, he’s excellent at breaking the ice. He was the first to ‘welcome’ me at that gym. Nice…interesting-guy. And YES. I am tapping into them, or at least, working on it. So far I feel like the annoying dog that follows them around, but I’m determined to prove myself useful sooner or later.

Quiet confidence, I like that. I’m definitely an internalizer, which a lot of people misread. I think part of it on Saturday was that I never quite knew when I was up to go, and my mind was on a million other things, that I just kind of got up and did my lift.

The atmosphere—I had a brief moment during squat warm ups when I saw girls warming up with 225 that I was like, OMG what did you get yourself into? But then I gave myself a pep talk and repeated the me v. me mantra and got over it. Honestly, when I was under the bar, I didn’t hear a whole lot. I remember hearing someone cat call my first squat so that helped to boost my confidence a little bit…beyond that I pretty much zoned in on the ref in front of me.

And yea, the singlet’s not so bad. You would look HOT HOT HOT. June 2012, it’s going to be epic. G, clear your schedule!!

SORRY FOR THE TEXT VOMIT:

Speaking of training:

I can’t decide exactly how to take training. I like 5/3/1 for the simplicity, and I know I haven’t run it long enough to see real improvements…but I’m still disappointed my squat hasn’t moved. I like the idea of Westside, especially the dynamic effort days…but I worry that it’s too complicated to keep up being in school full time and working part time.

Any opinions??

So, I’m researching. And reading. But for the week, I think I’m going to AMRAP my heart out and figure something solid out starting next week.

I’m here to say I can’t help! (again LOL)

But kudos to you GORL you kilt it at the meet so exciting and inspiring!

I’ve been meaning to update you on the important stuff:

Spray tan-$40+student+I’ve eaten a lot of carrots and pumpkin the past few months, so I’ve kind of got an orangy tint anyway=no go
Underwears-Went with a thong. Happy with my decision.
Hot menz-they were there. PL meets are excellent places to meet men that fit your requirements (gigantic, if I remember correctly). You would be such a hit it’d be ridiculous.

Well I prefer minimum +6 inches height on me… not written in stone
and I prefer +100LBS on me… not written in stone
Um yeah basically gigantic! yay.
I will have to get me to one of dem der meets! (not to compete, to oogle and fondle DUH!)

and sankyou LOL.
I don’t really <3 spraytanning. I’m all about the fake n bake. I don’t use any lotion so I turn brown with not a hint of orange.

I really recommend Madcow 5x5 as simple as it gets, run it for 9 weeks, rinse and repeat. Linear progression, you will get stronger.

Soooooo, is there going to be videos? Or at least singlet pics? 'cause your fans are waiting, little lady.

Since you are familiar with 531 and busy with school and work, I would lean toward the 531 version for PLers.

I AM ON TEAM 5/3/1!!! (Obviously)

I did westside for a while and I effing hated the DE days, and all the band chain stuff that I couldn’t do/had no idea how to do etc etc…

I think I would love to do westside if I actually got to train with the westside dudes/dudette’s though, with smart people watching me and telling me what to do and how to do it.

Otherwise I am supa content that I KNOW how 5/3/1 works and not having doubts in a program is one of the most important parts of a program.

Awesome job on your first meet and particular 'grats on the deadlift PR! 5/3/1 is a good programme - if you don’t have much in the way of help you can’t go far wrong with it.

congrats on your meet!!

are you sure about cutting?

cut because you don’t have the musculature yet…

is cutting likely to help you get the musculature??

so glad you had a blast! how cool to not feel like a freak and to get inspired!

I 2nd a vid of the singlet, I’m still not too sure about those things though.

Me vs Me mantra, very good! I’m having to come up with a few of my own mantras/affirmations/blah blah to say to myself.

<-----votes for 5/3/1 done correctly, you will look fierce because you’ll be fierce.

531 for PLers sounds good!
