It’s too bad you can’t provide any evidence to back up this huge assumption.

Who really cares about any of these “professional” competitions. Take away the steroids and synthol and these guys wouldn’t be able to compete in a natural competition. Its to bad that these guys are have ruined this sport for real athletes who work hard and get all thier gains naturally. Look at the stomachs on these guys its pathetic.[/quote]
Wait. Did you just call bodybuilders athletes?

Take away the steroids and synthol and you have the natural competitors dunce. Don’t think that chemicals let them workout with less intensity than anyone else. These people bust their ass just as hard, no harder, than anyone else.
They are athletes like people who play that canadian game where you sweep the ice so some heavy stone can glide.

Trying to sneak the word “Athletes” in huh?, I remember many years ago when there were rumors that the Weiders were trying to get bodybuilding in the olympics, lol, what a joke.

Nahh, don’t think so.

I am curious as to how you base your opionion that they are not athletes?
Curlers are athletes. Bodybuilders are not. Bodybuilders do participate in activities that help athletes but are far from athletes.

If curlers are athletes, then bobybuilders are athletes. Hell, if curlers are athletes, then my Grandama Rose is an athlete and she died in 1982.

So you’re saying that all the work, sweat, and blood loss in the gym and the strcit dieting doesn’t count as athleticism? Is it because the compete by poses? Buddy, walk a mile in one of their shoes and tell me they aren’t an athlete. You are a fool. A fucking blind fool.
There is no athletism in bodybuilding. None. Absolutely none.
Curlers have talent. Bodybuilder’s don’t. Given the right genetics, training, drugs and diet anyone could be a bodybuilder.
Curlers and all athletes have skill and talent.

Exactly. If you’re not going to take into consideration all the hard work that goes into the competition, then anyone who can run is as much of an athlete as any sprinter.
The competition doesn’t make them athletes, it’s all the hard work and training.

You must have one badass grandmother then.
Olympic speed walkers are more athletic than bodybuilders.

Bodybuilders do participate in one activity that athletes do to make better athletes but bodybuilding (dieting, training, shaving ones ass, posing) is not an athletic endeavor.

But they don’t compete in poses. They are judged by aesthetic standards not by some form of skill or talent they possess.
Posing is just something they do to accentuate their features. It is a far cry from anything athletic.
Bodybuilders are no more athletic than Miss USA contestants. I don’t care how hard they train, bodybuilding is not a sport that compares athletic prowess. If you call posing athletic, then you have to say that Miss USA contestants are MORE athletic, because they not only have to pose, but they pose in high heels and even get judged on walking. That is much more athletic than just walking out on a stage and striking a few poses.
You don’t even have to be athletic to train in such a way to induce and keep hypertrophy. Hell, powerlifters are much more athletic, because their physical performance actually is worth something in their competitions.
I have competed both as a bodybuilder and a powerlifter, so I’m not trying to denigrate anyone. To say that bodybuilding is “easy” is bullshit, but to say that it’s athletic by its nature is absurd. I know all of you guys that couldn’t cut it in real sports that try to satisfy the competition bug with bodybuilding are going to get your panties in a wad over this, but I’m sorry, you just can’t argue that walking around stage in a thong where how you walk around in that thong is a trivial percentage of what you’re judged on is athletic. Strippers display much more athleticism and get paid better.

But you’re not a bodybuilder nor could you be. Don’t dismiss what they do just because the trophy comes from a stage show. These people bust their ASS to get where they are. So you are way off base with your accusation.
